Broncos hire Dennis Allen as the new DC, formerly with the Saints as their DB coach. Someone tell me something good please?

What exactly did Marvin Lewis do to warrant an extension?
He's like the Liberace of bass & pot.

I believe he cut the Bengals arrest rate down dramatically this year.

Well, he's gotten Roman Harper into the pro-bowl 2 years in a row and turned the Jenkins kid into a pretty good cornerback, but if you look at the past couple of seasons, the Saints secondary has given up a lot of big plays. Most of that though can probably be tied into the scheme that Greg Williams runs. Okay, nevermind, I got nothing.

Not really. They are likely still dumping VY. This decision had a lot more to do with what Jeff Fisher wanted than vice versa. Bud Adams already announced Fisher was coming back some time ago. Obviously they had some disagreements over the past few weeks that led to things changing. That has nothing to do with Fisher's abilities as a coach. Anybody that knows anything about football would know that. But then again, you don't.

Always liked Jeff Fisher as a no nonsense guy, but when you take a critical look at the guy's tenure... they've underachieved more than they've overachieved.

They call him Coach .500 down in Nashville.

Just sayin'...

I think a lot of coaches who were on the fence (Lewis, Turner, Kubiak) were retained because of the labor uncertainty. What's the point of installing a new coaching staff & system when the players might be locked out until September? If that happens, it will be a throwaway year for most of the teams with new coaches.

If I were Carson Palmer, I'd want a trade too. It's just business as usual over there whether they win or lose.

I've got absolutely no sympathy for Marvin Lewis either, he coddled locker room cancer guys like Chad Johnson and that's why they've never won anything despite their talent. I found it amazing in games they were actually leading against the Steelers, Ochostinko would be seen pouting on the sidelines because he wasn't getting the ball. No shit, he was covered. They should have cut ties with that asshole after 2005 when he threw punches in the locker room at half time of the playoff game they were actually leading against the Steelers.

On top of that, Palmer is nowhere near the QB he once was, that elbow injury has really had an impact on his throws. It appears to me that he should have gone ahead with the Tommy John surgery as was recommended rather than be sub par for the rest of his career.

A lot of people here call him Field Goal Fisher. I wanted him to stay but after 16 seasons and 1 Super Bowl appearance I guess it is time for a change. I hope Bud Adams looks outside the organization but I'm not sure who is available at this point.

Brady got Offensive Player of the Year with 21 votes to Vick's 11. Also receiving votes were Houston running back Arian Foster with 7; Rivers with 5; Atlanta receiver Roddy White, Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and Philadelphia receiver DeSean Jackson with 2 each.
Peyton Manning got ZERO votes.

Between getting OPY and being the unanimous selection for All-Pro QB, Brady will most likely be named MVP. If you listen closely you can hear P13 starting to cry.

I concur. Enough already for Christ's sake.

As I've said before - Most of us hate the Patriots, for various reasons, and the Colts, for obvious reasons. Seeing you two idiots bicker back and forth endlessly about them has lost its charm.

And meanwhile, both Manning and Brady sit at home on their asses while trying to ignore the fact that only one QB their age has ever won a Super Bowl.

Too many NFL players make headlines for being assholes. It's good to see some of them do something nice. DeSean Jackson, Todd Herremans and Jamaal Jackson deserve kudos for this:

I believe there are 3 quarterbacks who were Brady's age or older and have won a Super Bowl. Montana, Young, Elway.

That was awesome! Thanks for sharing that!!
Yeah, it was better than seeing Aaron Rodgers ignore a cancer patient.

It's too bad neither of Plunkett's parents saw him win his two super bowls.

I'm pretty sure it's only Elway.

Montana and Young were 33. Tom Brady will be 34 by the time the next Super Bowl rolls around and Peyton will be 35.

The odds are not in their favor. The Manning/Brady era is coming to a close.

Elway won back-to-back Superbowls at 37 & 38
Johnny Unitas was 37
Earl Morrall was 36
Brad Johnson was 34
Bart Starr was 33 & 34
Len Dawson was 34
Staubach was 35 in SB XII
Plunket was 33 & 36
Theismann was 33
Montana was 33
Young was 33

Brady will be 34 (Aug) and Manning will be 35 (Mar) for next season. Not exactly spring chickens at this point but neither one of them would be the oldest QB to appear in a Superbowl for another 4 or 5 seasons. With today's modern medicine and training it's not the same as being mid-30's 40 years ago. Their era is nearing the end, but there is at least 3-4 more productive seasons left for both of them.

Well deserved.

Brady gets MVP.
I figured he would get it but not that he would be the first to get it unanimously.
