Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Seriously,
Of what I saw, Rua looked like a 50 year old man against Jones. He was already tired a minute into it.
The screwed thing is I couldnt get a hold of a clean link. I went to 3 different websites, and had problems with all. Atdhe didnt even have it
listed. I was bouncing around the entire night.
I would go ahead and pay, but money is extra tight right now.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
That went about how I expected it to, even though I was pulling for Shogun. Jones is just too big for anyone at LHW. The only guy that even has a shot at matching him physically is Phil Davis, and he isn't ready yet.
Shogun is still the man in my book, took a fight on short notice with the dude that no one wants to fight. PRIDE WILL NEVER DIE!

Atdhe had it. It was under the espn link and it didnt cut out at all.
Fuck, Shogun just got flat ass owned.

Thats how atdhe is getting around showing. Not listing it under correct title.
I thought the one Miller guy looked great.
The California Kid fight was boring.
Cro Crop was winning fight, and then "bang". Didnt he lose last fight same way?
Jones & Shogun didnt even look like they were in the same weight class.

Shogun couldn't get past that reach advantage and was getting rocked throughout the whole fight and was winded halfway through the first round.

Crocop has gone the way of other legendary strikers like Arlovski and Lidell. But at least those two still managed to look good before getting knocked out out of nowhere, Mirko just looks slow now. Sad.yeahbuddy wrote: Cro Crop was winning fight, and then "bang". Didnt he lose last fight same way?
The only fights I'll watch of him from now on will be the pride ones.
Shogun always looks like shit after a knee surgery, although I don't see him handling jones even if he was 100 percent. Who knows though?

He kept coming forward even though he was getting his ass handed to
him. Jeez, back off & get your wits back. But than again, that's better said than done.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Now that Jardine is done, Jones can take over as the king of the unorthodox. Man, what a fight. He was in control the entire way.
Nice to see Miller take out Cro Cop. I don't know why I don't like Mirko but I don't.
Enjoyed seeing Marquardt win just because I like saying Marquardt. Marquardt.

Well Jones is actually a good technical striker, he just throws goofy shit. Before he was all goofy, Phil nurse and winklejohn have him as a very good muay thai fighter. Jardine just fought weird.tin00can wrote:. Man, what a fight. Jones is like a poor mans Remy Bonjasky.
I was pretty shocked how he completely outclassed Shogun, shogun did not look good, but mean Jones still made him look like a child.
I think to beat jones you need to be able to wrestle, but even then hes like GSP(not in style) in that you can be a better striker or wrestler than him, but you gotta think about his strikes or take downs.
Hes no where near unbeatable, but five years down the line.......

Thiago Silva’s UFC 125 Drug Test Results Indicate Non-Human Sample
The results are back in the case involving Thiago Silva and the mystery drug test from UFC 125. The conclusion is that the Brazilian submitted a sample inconsistent with human urine.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission released the results of the testing on Tuesday.
According to the report, Silva allegedly submitted a sample to the commission on Jan. 1 that was tested by Quest Diagnostics and came back as an invalid sample, inconsistent with human urine.
A second sample was then sent to Sports Medicine Research & Testing Laboratory, which is accredited by the World Anti-Doping Agency, for testing and came back with the same result – urine inconsistent with that of a human.
The allegation is that Silva submitted either an altered or substituted specimen for the sample used in the drug test.
Silva has been sidelined since the Jan. 1 bout in which he was victorious over Brandon Vera at UFC 125. He was set to return to action at UFC 130 in May, but was subsequently pulled from the card when red flags popped up over the drug test.
According to Keith Kizer, Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, the penalty for the drug test on Silva could result in “revocation or suspension, and/or fine, and/or No Contest ruling” for the bout with Vera.
No penalty has been doled out at this point, but the commission has handled a similar case to this.
In 2007, former UFC heavyweight champion Kevin Randleman had a urine test come back with similar results. Randleman submitted a test that was found to have no human hormones, and as a result, he had his license to fight revoked by the commission. He was eligible to re-apply after one year.
The commission hasn’t decided on Silva’s punishment at this time, but it’s likely to end up in the same ball park. A hearing on a temporary suspension will be held on April 7. Silva also has the option to file an appeal for a formal hearing on the matter.
MMAWeekly.com will continue to update on the fallout from the testing situation and update with the punishment handed down for Silva when it becomes available.

I didn't think Shields had a chance against Hendo, but he owned him. Shields to me, is like Rampage... the better his opponent is, the better he looks. That being said, I think this fight will look like GSP/Kos 2. GSP keeps it on the feet and takes advantage of Shields even shittier striking, en route to a UD.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
To me, GSP is such a machine that his fights are boring. I didnt think Shields had a chance until I saw his teammates Diaz & Melendez fight a couple of weeks ago. Since then, they've got to be doing something right in their camp to perform that way. Maybe that rubs off on Shields, maybe not. I just hope its a good fight.BozoMcMetal wrote:I didn't think Shields had a chance against Hendo, but he owned him. Shields to me, is like Rampage... the better his opponent is, the better he looks. Pretty accurate guess. It was a boring fight for sure, Shields just couldn't get anything done even though he pounded on GSP a little bit.
Didn't like seeing Couture go out like that but wow, what a kick. Loved his comment to Joe at the end: "Last time we talked about it I had a few more teeth."
Aldo came thisclose to losing his belt, amazing how Hominick got better once he got that huge hematoma.
I'm hoping that in the next UFC, Big Country pounds the fuck out of Mir's pretty face and knocks him out of the UFC.

My god. That was his diagnosis of Alzheimers

I've gotta look up what's going on with GSP's eye. He whined about it enough I wonder if some real damage was done.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I thought it was a good night of fights.
GSP fought the way he usually fights. His camp is doing damage control because GSP didnt finish the fight, or even attempt to finish. Their excuse is his eye, his eye, his eye. They say it was poked. To me it looked like a clean hit.
GSP vs Nick Diaz has to happen. My money is on Diaz.
From the beginning you could tell Shields had no stand up game at all.
Aldo fight was right up there with fight of the year honors.
Whats with watching the Facebook prelims when they always end up showing them during the ppv?
Too bad about Randy, but I could care less about "The Dragon".
I doubt that a Silva/GSP fight will ever happen. If so, Silva would destroy him.

GSP's comment that Shields stand up was better than he thought puzzles me.... how bad did he think it was gonna be....?? I did not expect those two to jab at each other for 25 minutes... Dana White better make sure he has exciting undercards on any GSP fights, his greatness bores me as well.
Nice to see Jason MacDonald back, always liked him.
Hominck was great but I do think there was something up with Aldo, he uncharacteristically gassed big time there for awhile, otherwise I don't think this fight would have lasted 5 rounds.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
GSP kept throwing that big right that never landed. If it did land, Shields always got out of it without getting nailed. Oh yeah, GSPs team said that right didnt land solidly because of the problems he was having with his eye.MotorVenom wrote:GSP's comment that Shields stand up was better than he thought puzzles me.... how bad did he think it was gonna be....?? Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I only checked out some fights because wikipedia was listing Machida's win by ko (crane kick)! They already changed it and now it's "front kick" but by God that was beautiful. Ever since Steven Segall started teaching that camp his deadly stuff they're unstoppable. I bet the Nogs are gonna use that also.
Aldo showed some good takedowns, never seen him do that before. With this judging criteria and octagon control bullshit, it's a nice tool to have in your arsenal. His Jiu-jitsu was kind of suspicious though. Maybe because he was tired?
GSP was boring as usual. Anderson Silva dancing in the octagon and hiding behind the ref is way more entertaining than George's latest fights.
The Diaz fight didn't load so I think I'm going to get the full card and check out the rest of the fights.

Last PPV sucked. Nelson might get shitcanned. I wish Jackson still wanted to fight.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Yeah, it wasnt a good night. Matt Hamill is no main event fighter. Dana White was complaining about Mir. I thought he fought a good fight. The next morning White took back most of what he said.Just.Saying wrote:Last PPV sucked. Nelson might get shitcanned. I wish Jackson still wanted to fight.
The only highlight of the night was Brian Stann(spelling). He looks like the real deal. I want to see him fight a fighter that leans more towards wrestling. I like watching the "Skyscraper" fight, but when he gets ko'd, he gets ko'd big time.
Looking forward to the Guida fight this coming weekend. He always delivers.
Also looking forward to the Dos Santos/Carwin fight. If Carwin can land one of his bombs its lights out for Dos Santos. I just hope Carwin doesnt gas out by end of first round.
Too bad about Lesnar out until 2012. There's no way he can be considered for a title match when he returns. Never thought I would want to see Lesnar/Mir 3, but now, I think it would be a good fight.

I kinda liked Big Country at first, but all he offers in the octagon is the ability to take a shitload of punches. He needs to go. The KO of Struve was fucking solid, otherwise it was a boring night. Oh yeah, Stann was good. Looking forward to seeing how he progresses.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Big Country is a very likeable guy. Its unfortunate he doesnt bring anything to the table other than that. I forget the exact quote by Joe Rogan but had something to do with him dropping some serious weight.tin00can wrote:Just.Saying wrote:Last PPV sucked. Nelson might get shitcanned. How do you think the Clay Guida fight will go?
