Of course, they'll be getting Hart back as well, but still, I'm just simply not buying Milwaukee being a serious contender. And the Cardinals, if they don't improve A LOT, they are going to end up being a joke. Hell, the Cubs will finish ahead of them if they keep playing at the rate they are currently. And hell, even the damn Pirates are tied w/Chicago for 2nd currently (I *think* so anyways - last I looked, I think both were 1.5 games back).sparkdaddy wrote:Go Reds!!!
It's DEFINITELY the Reds division to lose.

As for your question as to who was the last NL Central champion to win in the postseason, I don't know the answer to that. My best guess would prob. be the Cardinals. And if the Phillies big 4 pitching phenoms pitch the way they certainly can, they will stand a VERY good chance that not only winning the NL, but winning the WS as well, as they have some pretty damn good offensive production as well. VERY solid team there w/out a doubt.
However, I am VERY interested in seeing how well Homer Bailey and Johnny Cueto pitch once they return from the DL. And if they can get Massett straightened out and the rest of their bullpen keeps on pitching well, The Reds are just simply going to be extremely tough to beat.
I'll tell you a team in the AL I am VERY surprised by right now is Cleveland

You can doubt it will be the Cubs while I'll sit here knowing it won't be them. They fucking suck. They did steal their first base of the season monday night. So they have that going for them.Monkey_Julius_Bowaffle_ wrote:I highly, highly doubt it will be the CubsIf it ain't the Cubs, I just want whoever repesents the division to not get their ass kicked in the first round again. The only good thing about the demise of this team is we may only be one year away from seeing Jeff Samardjia in a Bears jersey at wideout. Where he belongs.

Just concerning last season, I don't put that on Dusty, I think the whole team shit the bed. Period. If you're including post-seasons from years before, you could be correct, I don't remember. Don't know much about Dusty pre-Cincy. There's really noone else I would rather have as our mgr. at the current moment though, I know that much.johnk5150 wrote:sparkdaddy wrote:Dusty does ok in the regular season, shits the bed in the Post season.

That's exactly what Cubs fans said when Dusty arrived, too. He was "a players' manager, free agents will come to Chicago to play for him", etc etc.Monkey_Julius_Bowaffle_ wrote:Just concerning last season, I don't put that on Dusty, I think the whole team shit the bed. Then they gagged a time or two and Dusty's thin skin became apparent. Cue the veiled accusations of racist fans, the hyper-sensitivity towards the broadcasters and writers, and the refusal to accept blame or responsibility for anything. "Awww, come on, duuuude" "I don't know, duuuude"
Maybe he learned from his time with the Cubs? Reds fans better hope so.

And also, guard your pitchers arms. Dusty knows how to use and abuse them which is probably why he shits the bed in the post season, no arms left.

Jesus. I think every year someone on this board brings up how shitty Dusty Baker is ( usually it's the baseball thread ).
San Francisco in 2002 say "hi". Chicago can blame 2003 on Bartman all they want, he didn't score eight fucking runs that inning. I'm always distrustful of "players managers". Guys that manage by their gut.
Baseball is a game of adjustments, stats and strategy. "Gut" managers don't adjust and make the neccesary changes, because they have a "feeling" ( Grady Little 2003 ). They don't play pitching matchups ( game 6 '02 Rodrigues, Eyre, Worrell ), watch pitch counts, actually Dusty has no fucking idea how to handle starters or relievers and don't even try to get him to understand the concept of LOOGY, he's had winning teams because he managed in tremendously weak Divisions. Hendry had to trade players away to get Dusty to play the young call-ups.
If I was a Cincinatti fan I would hope and pray that he gets no where near Aroldis Chapman.

Re: THE CUBS SUCK!!!!
Let's not revise what happened here regarding the '5 more outs' collapse. Dust visited the mound during the meltdown a total of zero times during the shitting of the bed. He had a resposnsibilty to go calm down his rookie pitcher as things were melting down. He sat there and let him flail in the wind as the whole fucking thing fell apart (again(Cubs style!)). The collapse was on the entire team.killeverything wrote:Jesus. I think every year someone on this board brings up how shitty Dusty Baker is ( usually it's the baseball thread ).

Regarding Bartman. Kill you're a very knowledgable baseball fan. Please was poetic on a fan's responsibility when sitting in the first row of seats while your own team is on the field. Do you think people occupying those seats should at the very least understand those situations? I'm not saying Alou would have even caught that ball. I"m saying it sucks we'll never know because the idiot (who bought those tickets from a season ticket holder) didn't understand the situation. If the Marlins had been on the field, then by all means go for the fucking ball.

I'm glad the Cubs lost that series personally, because the 2003 MFY would've eaten them alive in the World Series. I don't think Boston or NY could've done anything against Florida. So in that sense it's good, because anything that stops NY from winning a Championship is good, pure and right.
Speaking of Dusty

Chapman is losing FB speed, and Dusty hasn't even had a chance to look at the kid cockeyed yet.

John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer talked to Chapman's catcher, Ramon Hernandez, after his most recent game:
"Yesterday, he threw what 93, 94", Hernandez said. "Then today, he's throwing 91. He's throws almost 100 over every pitch. Now, he can’t get up to 93. There's got to be something. You can't lose it in one day."
Wow, sounds like Ramon is worried. Or, well, maybe.
"He's got to be a little tired. He’s been used going back-to-back, three days in a row," Hernandez said, "especially him. He's got a lot of stress. . . I think he's going to be OK."
It's true, Chapman has been getting used more often than in 2010. Wait and see, but many will be expecting the worst. Who could blame them?
I really want to see he and his 105mph FB face big league hitters. If he's already having fatigue issues, Dusty Baker will fucking kill him.

What's worse seeing the Cubs lose a World Series, or seeing the MFY win one?
Gotta take NY losing everytime by whatever means. That's what makes things right with the world. Peace, love, happiness and all that gay shit.

Well, don't feel bad, the Reds couldn't beat the Pirates (took 1 of 4 which is fucking pathetic) and the damn Diamonbacks have give them fits thus far this season as well. The Cubs can't beat the Nationals or Pirates. We're hardly worried about what good teams do right now.
Hoping it's just a typical Reds slow-start, just like April last yr. and that when we get Cueto and Bailey back, those guys will be ON, but who the hell knows. We might end up sucking as bad or worse than the fucking Cubs this season when all is said and done.
