No team that bases it's success on Swedish sweethearts has ever won the Cup,why would this year be any different?

Heading to the parade in the morning for an all day binge. They're expecting 1 million.
B's are in nice shape going forward. Spooner, Knight (thank you, Kessel), Caron and Kampfer are going to be full time rookie additions with 8 or so million to spare.

Uh, because he was playing hurt. That guy carried the Canucks through an entire series, and is one of the best in the game. Beaking the sedins and Luongo is warranted, but now your douche-baggary is really showing.Aquanetsuperhold wrote: Kesler looks great in his underwear, but not in this series

The Boston Bruins weren’t the only winners on Wednesday night. Figures released this afternoon show CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada shattered its own record set two nights earlier in the 2011 Stanley Cup final, drawing an average audience of 8.76 million viewers to the game 7 telecast.Aquanetsuperhold wrote:Gibsonite wrote:Lots of truth in this editorial..

EDMONTON - And now, Vancouver, do you understand why the nation never endorsed or embraced the Canucks as Canada's Team?
Canadians didn't like the team, didn't like the organization and they especially didn't like the fans.
That makes the game the most-watched NHL game in Hockey Night in Canada history and the second-highest watched game in CBC sports history finishing slightly behind the 2002 Men’s Olympic Gold Medal game between Canada and the U.S., which drew 8.96 million viewers. The game 6 audience for the Canucks and Bruins attracted an average of 6.6 million viewers.
According to CBC, Wednesday’s audience peaked at 11.2 million hockey fans. That occurred late in the second period, just as the Bruins took a 3-0 lead en route to their 4-0 victory to clinch the franchise’s first Stanley Cup since 1972. Overall, CBC says 18.45 million tuned in to some portion of Wednesday’s telecast.
nbc had their best numbers in 35 years for the nhl.
the air canada center in TORONTO was open to watch the game 7.
i guess all those canadians were boston fans.
and the american audience? please. boston ranks second behind new york in sports teams everyone hates.

They had the ceremony and parade on TV. Comcast is going to run it on demand for the next week in case anyone missed it.

They are called Duck Boats. We call them a big pain in the ass when you are trying to get through Boston and you're stuck behind one of them.
Instead of tour buses, Boston started the with Duck Boats. You can drive them both on land and sea, or The Charles River. This link will tell you more about them and where they came from

I was getting used to watching playoff hockey every couple of nights. Now there's nothing worth watching on TV.

While I love baseball and am a Yankees nutswinger, I agree. Summer sucks for sports fans.
Re: The official NHL thread
Yep. It's killin' me. I love watching the Sox once a week or so, but I can't watch every game. Or even most games for that matter.Tommy wrote:SkyDog112046 wrote:I was getting used to watching playoff hockey every couple of nights. Now there's nothing worth watching on TV.

I know I have nothing to complain about since the B's won, but god damnit I miss hockey already.

I hear you on the once a week baseball games. I like watching baseball, but there is a huge difference between playoff hockey and baseball games before the all-star break. This interleague stuff is for the birds.LetUsPrey wrote:Yep. It's killin' me. I love watching the Sox once a week or so, but I can't watch every game. Tommy, it's even worse this year than normal without NFL training camps getting reading to open in a few weeks, or at least the uncertainty of it.

Next season can't get here fast enough. Already a ton of intriguing storylines. The east is going to be a war. I think it will be the Kings year in the west.

Phoenix or Florida could use some support.Anne_Thrax wrote:Somebody find me a team to cheer for next year. I'M OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS.
Nashville. Good team to get behind and more than likely will be taking Atlanta's place in the division next year.

I'm going to keep an enthusiastic eye toward Winnipeg -- hopefully they compete and can make a little noise.
Even though the city is a bit on the small side for NHL, there is no doubt that they are hockey-mad.......

Depends on what type of team you like... superstar roster, working-class, finesse, grit, Original Six, newer franchise, major city, yada yada...Anne_Thrax wrote:Somebody find me a team to cheer for next year. I'M OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS.
Why not Calgary? That's where the original Atlanta Flames ended up...

It's best to go with Columbus and Florida. Top to bottom, Florida is the worst run team in the NHL, and Columbus is probably second.

I'm thinking a Marchand jersey ought to do it.
