Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
ESPN aired the Steve Bartman movie this week, 'Catching Hell'-
Did anybody watch?
Terrific 2 hour film.
My 1st reaction was-Why are they spending so much time talk about
Buckner and the '86 series?
Bartman did not participate in the movie.
There is plenty of "new" video footage of the play & the aftermath as well.
Moises Alou is also interviewed. He still claims the ball would have been caught.
Did you know Bartman was not all alone at the game? His two friends were sitting to his right. Though they left him at the stadium after the incident.
I wonder if they are still all friends??

Turns out that Longoria's game-winning blast over the baby gate in left field was an epic nut shot.

That really blows. Apart from some bad final months of 2 or 3 seasons, the Sox have been epic with him. 2 WS titles, their first one in 86 years, made the postseason for 5 of his 8 seasons. They have a bad last month to an otherwise excellent season minus the first 2 weeks and all of that means nothing now.tin00can wrote:Francona out in Boston, and Tony Reagins resigns as GM of the Angels.

He lost the locker room this year and was unable to get it under control. It finally caught up to them at the end of the year when guys who were slacking got out of shape and players stopped trying. They need to bring in a complete asshole next year to put things back in order. Someone who will take charge and isn't afraid to stand up to guys making big money.David_Lee_Halen wrote:That really blows. Continuing the great season. We now have two AL series tied at 1-1. And a day that surprises no one Milwaukee is up 2-0, and one that surprises everyone Philly lost today.
Those Cardinals are a hell of a lot tougher than I gave them credit for. Holy shit. Off Cliff Lee too.

Yankees could not hit the ball today.
Game 3 is huge.
Feels like another heavyweight match-up, except these two starters faced off only days ago.
Where the fuck is Tex and his bat?
Both he and ARod need to watch Cano and follow his lead.

Game 3 they have to hit the ball off Verlander. Detroit has the edge in pitching, that's why I think they'll win this series. Detroit also gets to feast on bullpen ace AJ for game 4.Machado wrote:Yankees could not hit the ball today.

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Fuck Selig for letting Jerry Meals work the fucking post season after that fucked up call in Atl earlier in the season. that fuck was the eptiome of inconsistency for both teams tonight. And Pujols is a cunt for being the only guy to give him a piece of his mind, only problem was the pitch he bitched about was right down the middle. I wish some crazed phillie fan would blacken both his eyes.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Well C.C. is clearly a #1 starter and a horse. No reason he can't match zeros w/Verlander tonight.killeverything wrote:Game 3 they have to hit the ball off Verlander. Game 4 features A.J. vs Porcello.
Is that going to be a 11-10 game? Very possible.

I'm not saying Alou would have caught the ball, but it would be nice if the fan had given him the opportunity to miss it cleanly.Machado wrote:ESPN aired the Steve Bartman movie this week, 'Catching Hell'-

A.J. is starting game 4 tonight.
The guy might throw 7 innings of 2 run ball or
get knocked out of the game by the 3rd inning.
You never know
Getting a W and returning to The Bronx for game 5 and Nova is what I'm looking forward to the most.
Losing last night was awful.
I really question the 1st pitch fastball Soriano threw to D. Young. Even I know the guy likes to swing at the 1st pitch, so how about throwing him something off-speed. WTF!!!!

Awful for you maybe. Gereat for me. Although the Yankees damn near rallied against Valverde again. I swear he's trying to get Todd Jones's old nickname The Roller Coaster.Machado wrote:A.J. is starting game 4 tonight.

I'm talking the 9th when Valverde couldn't find the plate for three batters. Walking two and seemed like he was about to walk Jeter.Machado wrote:Yankees did rally against Verlander. That inning had all the signs of a Yankee rally.madmaxfan wrote: I'm talking the 9th when Valverde couldn't find the plate for three batters. Walking two and seemed like he was about to walk Jeter.
Valverde threw a lot of pitches in game 2. He was only going to do so well in game 3.
I tell you something, he should have been given a called strike 3 on Jeter.
The home plate umpire was awful.
Anyway, how possible is it that Valverde will be available for the 3rd
consecutive day?

Possibly. Nova is Aaron Small 2K, even if the MFY make it past Detroit, they won't Texas. Where is Can'tStop's retarded ass? Tampa was knocked out. Don't bold shit when you don't know what the fuck you're talking about ( Ellsbury's defensive history, the glaring example ).madmaxfan wrote:Well so much for wrapping things up at home. I tell you what, John Smoltz in the TBS booth is a wonderful addition. The guy was basically calling the game about 3 steps ahead all night. Ron Darling had nothing to offer the telecast because Smoltz was nailing point after point.madmaxfan wrote:Well so much for wrapping things up at home. He declared A.J. needed an "at 'em" ball in the 1st and then he got one.
Anyway, Granderson saved the game with that catch in the 1st. If the ball is not caught, game is probably over and A.J. is again the butt of jokes.
ARod looks to be getting "hot" at the plate. Same can be said for Tex.
Might be something to look forward to tomorrow night in The Bronx.

Not to mention that catch in the 6th or 7th were he looked like Superman flying thru the air. After that point Comerica was so quiet you could almost hear crickets. I've never been in a packed stadium that was so quiet. I think everybody there new the game was pretty much over at that point.

I still can't believe Dumbrowksi made that trade. That trade, not resigning Polanco and the ridiculous contract he gave Dontrelle Willis are hands down the worst moves he's madeMachado wrote:What makes the 2 catches even sweeter is Granderson was oncemadmaxfan wrote: Not to mention that catch in the 6th or 7th were he looked like Superman flying thru the air. Francona filling in for McCarver during the ALCS. I'm sure his analysis will be good, but don't look for him to criticize anyone.

Heard about that last night. I wonder what sort/kind of medical procedure he will be having? Not that it matters.
