The guy is lying. He has his own self interests to protect and is doing whatever he can, saying whatever he can to avoid getting thrown in jail.

It was a total lie, the state police and city police said that there were no reports made by McGinger.

Now he looks even worse. He's lying about contacting the cops. And now that he's providing some meat for the press, they are going after him in a big way, and writing stories about how he appeared at a Sandusky golf game and flag football match in the months after he "stopped" the assault.

By the time this is done he's going to be in rough shape. Sandusky can't be punished immediately, so it's guys like Paterno and ginger who are going to bear the brunt of it for now.
