They'll probably draft another QB. Elway knows Orton isn't the guy. Tebow Probably isnt either but they have to give him his shot. Elway is trying to think long term. What's confusing about that?

That they got rid of Orton if they don't believe in Tebow....unless they really think Brady Quinn is the guy and if so then why isn't he playing? Not to mention that they lost depth at the QB position and they still have to pay Orton the balance of his salary this year. It seems like there's no advantage unless Orton was becoming a malcontent or distraction.

I hadn't heard that. I'd assume he was gone after this year, and he wasn't going to see the field again this season. He asked to be waived, so there probably could have been some extra locker room drama if they'd forced him to stay. It isn't uncommon for teams to cut a guy they're not going to use so that he can catch on somewhere else. With all the recent QB injuries, it was just a good time for it.

It's pretty simple. They waived Orton. If someone picked him off the wire (which KC did), KC becomes responsible for the remainder of his contract.

Well that's simple anyway...but further (and I'm not positive I have this right)

If nobody picked him up, the Broncos owed him guaranteed money. If someone signed Orton after the waiver wire, I believe they could pay him league minimum, and the Broncos are still on the hook for the balance.

The Broncos saved $750,000 on unloading Orton and he gets the balance of his 2.6 miilion deal.

Go check out some of the media reports. Tebow was so bad on Sunday that the Lions felt bad for Denver. Tebow has no business being an NFL QB. He doesn't have the arm to make the required throws. No amount of time is going to fix his issues.

Who do the Lions play this weekend?

The Bronco's will evetually start Quinn at QB to showcase him for other teams for next season, his contract is up with Denver at the end of this season.
