The call on Will Smith was criminal.

You know it's coming straight from his office. Officials didn't just all of a sudden decide good hits should be flagged. Butkus, Dobler and Tatum would amass millions in fines if they played today.Tommy wrote:

Blame the mentality of the Midwest.
Things move a lot slower in that area versus other parts of the world

It's comical how much of a different team the Saints are in the Dome. We are going to eat the Lions alive on Sunday. That fucking Rams loss has us pegged for the rest of the season, though. People aren't viewing us as a threat. The rest of our schedule is a cake walk though. We are certainly better than the 49ers.

Obviously it can be abused to douchey levels by certain idiots, but it kinda makes sense.
When I'm watching a Redskins game, I often think to myself, "Christ, we are getting our asses kicked." It just feels right.

"We," in sports teams bugs the shit out of me. More so for college fans that never went to the University they are cheering for we. It's HUGE in Ohio with Buckeyes. People that never went to a community college much less OSU have no right to say we as compared to someone with a degree from OSU hanging on their wall.
Re: NFL 2011 Thread
You're right, how does a Team President who built a team that won more games in one decade than ANY other team, EVER, and went to TWO Super Bowls in the last five years, have a job??! I DON'T GET IT! Never mind the NINE consecutive seasons of 10+ wins from 2002-2010. Never mind he won the NFL's executive of the year award SIX TIMES. Oh yeah, that's why he has a job. But none of that matters according to you, and he should just be fired for one bad season in which we lost our franchise QB.bane wrote:Colts fired D Coordinator soon to be replaced by another cover 2 genius Im sure. Oh yeah, I forgot, you're a fucking Texans fan, who wouldn't know a successful franchise if it were staring you in the face. During that same stint of 2002-2010, the Texans had exactly ZERO playoff appearances, barely ONE winning season, and NEVER once won the season series against the Colts. Yeah, what a model franchise.
As for Caldwell, he's done a fine job under the circumstances. He led us to a Super Bowl two years ago. He led us to the playoffs last year even with all the injuries we incurred. That's not forgotten. Would the Texans fire Kubiak if he took them to the Super Bowl two years ago and playoffs last year?? I THINK NOT!! Or maybe they would, seeing as how they're a pathetic franchise that's never won ten games in a season, much less made the playoffs.
Luckily our owner is not a weak minded, ignorant fool that's easily swayed by idiots such as this Texans fan. The Polians are 100% safe in their positions, and Caldwell will be evaluated and he certainly has a good chance to return next year as well.

Re: NFL 2011 Thread
Obviously today was a day of great change for us. I agree 100% with the release of Larry Coyer. He just was not getting the job done. I've been calling for him to be gone for weeks now. Hopefully a change in voice will lead to some inspiration for our defense. I expect some personnel changes this week as well. As for Orlovsky starting, I also agree with that move. Painter was not progressing as he needed to. He wasn't making the throws, too many wrong reads, too many mistakes. Hopefully Orlovsky can step in and make a positive difference. The sad reality is, after having one starting QB for every game from 1998-2011, we've had three different starters this year.
These moves show nobody is throwing in the towel, we want to win and we want to win now.

Where are all the idiots who insisted it was impossible we could take a #1 Quarterback and keep Peyton Manning as well? Our owner and President have both confirmed recently that it's very possible the team will go that route, just as I've stated for weeks. Please, everyone who said this would NEVER happen, show up now and eat your crow.

I'm not sure what your epically horrible franchise's fainungs have to do with the Texans, but go ahead and project away if it makes you feel better. Your coach sucks and baby Polian is a horrible GM. To be fair, the Texans had to start out from scratch. Houston didn't get to steal their team from another city.

Re: NFL 2011 Thread
How does a city "steal" a team from another city? Team ownership had the right to move the team to whatever city they felt would support the franchise. The city of Baltimore did not support the franchise, so ownership moved the team to a city that did. Clearly it was a good decision.Tenacious_Dio wrote:To be fair, the Texans had to start out from scratch. Houston didn't get to steal their team from another city.

How old are you? Do you not remember the Colts moving in the middle of the night? There is a reason the Colts are referred to as "the team from Indianapolis" in Baltimore. I'm also a fan of a transplanted team but I understand why people in Houston are still upset.

It's depressing that this side discussion is derailing the true discussion, which should be about the pathetic Colts and their second 0-11 record since 1986 (gee, MY team hasn't been 0-11 in my lifetime, I can only imagine how awful that must be).cc117 wrote: How old are you? But I'll provide some perspective here - yes, the Colts were beloved in Baltimore, and Baltimorians loathe the Irsays, to the point that bars and restaurants in the area actually offered special deals when Irsay, sr, croaked to celebrate his death. It's also heartwarming to know that the greatest Colt ever, Johnny Unitas, refused to have anything to do with the Indy Colts, and adopted the Ravens as his team in the last years of his life.
But in reality, the city absolutely forced Irsay's hand. They were going to claim the team via eminent domain or some shit - in fact the city council voted to the morning after the Colts went to Indy. They refused to build them a new stadium, while Indy already built a nice dome for them.
He really had no choice. The fucking city was going to steal the team if you can believe that! No doubt it wouldn't have held up in court but it would have kept the team there for years probably.

Bud Adams can kiss our asses, but Nashville isn't to blame. That goes to our mayor at the time and Adams' greed. The Oilers were well supported here. They were beloved, even when they sucked. That move was pure politics and the clashing egos of a couple of old rich assholes.cc117 wrote:Tenacious_Dio wrote:Why do I bother?poizond13 wrote:The city of Baltimore did not support the franchise
