Interesting. It did cross my mind that usually after a fight like that, the winning fighter checks on the loser to see if he's OK and Jones didn't do that.

Looks like the Seagal fight plan didn't work.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
It worked for a round, Jones adjusted in 2nd rd, end of fight.Clovis Died wrote:Looks like the Seagal fight plan didn't work.
Inbetween rds Jones did look a bit rattled didnt he?
How about Mir vs Cain V.? that would be a good fight.

Mir v. Cain would be a great fight. Rumor is Overeem can't get licensed, we might be looking at Mir v. Lesner 3. Also can you believe Cain is hurt again, my god he is fragile.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
The last minute of last night's Mir fight had to be one of the greatest minutes of mma! Think about it- he was out, almost got submitted, almost submitted, got rolled, rolled back, and broke an arm. Whew! Right up there with the Kongo vs Berry fight a few months back. I would be fine with a Lesner/Mir 3. He had a good attitude about it last night.Clovis Died wrote:Mir v. Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
THAT....CARD...WAS....SICK!!!!
Amazing night of finishes, the last three fights were especially brutal.
I kinda wished the KZ/Hominick fight was a 15 minute war, but flash KOs are fun to see, too.
Props to Mir for being the first person to tko and sub Nog, that has to be sub of the year
I thought Machida had Jones number after the first round. If he gets past Hendo and Rashad I really don't see anyone at LHW giving him any problems.
Brian Ebersole has some crazy Guillotine defense
Tito seems to fold like a lawnchair every time he gets hit in the body.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Days later I'm still smiling about Mir V. Nog - that was really a great night of fights. Korean Zombie catching that dude, Mir making Nog go snap and Lyota dropping like a puppet after his strings were cut.....too bad all that wasn't on FOX.
Tito is done and I think he knows it - with one fight left on his contract and when you consider his history I don't think letting him have one more fight buried on a card somewhere would be such a crime.
Can we all agree NOT to shave logos/words into our chest hair, please....

The Mir submission was too much for me. That slow-motion, I wish I could erase it from my memory.

I have a feeling Overeem will fail his drug test after the fight. Shit he still has not passed as I type this.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
There's a lot riding on this fight so however/whatever he does to pass test, they will do it. I'm not saying Dana White practices illegal tactics, I'm just saying.Clovis Died wrote:I have a feeling Overeem will fail his drug test after the fight. Shit he still has not passed as I type this.
Last night STRIKEFORCE fights. Boring!
That Cyborg woman needs to fight men.
Disappointed in Melendez, but the guy he fought
did absolutely nothing. Anytime he tried to go
on the offensive side, Melendez countered with 5
or 6 of his own.
Melendez didnt show me anything that tells me that
he belongs in the UFC.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
AGREE, the last Strikeforce card was a dud, was kind of surprised to see them sign a new deal but I guess as long as the live gates are OK and they have some sort of TV deal it can't hurt for the UFC to control what essentially is starting to look like their developmental league.
I would like to see Gilbert in the UFC, I don't think he deserves a title shot right away but I'd like to see really where he is at, I enjoy watching him fight, that dude he fought had a weird style.
I hope all testing, whatever goes well and we see Lesnar V Overeem - be like two semi's colliding....

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I read it was free to a limited number of those who downloaded the UFC app. While exploring the app I tried to buy the event, but got a message from Xbox saying it had sold out already. I'm guessing the limited number of free UFC 141 slots have already been taken as well. Congrats if you got in early enough to download it and rec'd the free offer.slash4pres wrote:UFC 141 is available for free off of XBOX live.

I dont have a wireless adapter for my 360, so I used my laptop to do it. The new update on the 360 is kinda cool. I might buy another annual xbox live membership. I've been w/o for about a year.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
If you do end up getting another membership make sure to check out your local 7-11 first. They sell membership cards there. Most people buy them online through the Xbox and they charge $60/year's membership. They used to charge $50. 7-11 has the old $50/year membership cards still...at least mine does. Since most people buy them online 7-11 has old stock. Check there first and save yourself $10 if they have them stocked.yeahbuddy wrote: same here.

Thanks for the advice. I just bought 2 months for 2 bucks. I use my laptop in place of the wireless adapter, it works fine.
I thought about buying a ps3, but still debating on that.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
My thoughts of the fight in a nutshell. Nate Diaz is a badass, looked like his brother out there. Cowboy can take a hit. Brock hornswoggled us all.
Sucks man, I thought I saw so much potential.
He will take his 400k and run. Damn!
I'm flabbergast.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Ok I'm over that. Lets hope we get JDS and Reem this Spring!! Both should be healthy
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Did you see the expression on Brock's face when he got nailed with that body shot? Damn!
I figured he would retire if he lost. The only thing left for him to do would be to do a Mir vs Lesnar 3 fight. Other than that, nothing.
Nate Diaz was badass tonight. He made Cerrone look rather ordinary didnt he?
He's a lot like Nick, but the one thing that he lacks is the "going in for the kill" when he has other fighter hurt. Whenever Nick has the shot, he lazers in like hell to finish a guy.
Gotta love the Plumber coming into the octagon playing Motorhead.
The Finch knockout reminded me when Jake Shields got knocked out. Now Jon Finch can go to the back of the line. We wont be hearing from him for awhile.
Nan Phan looked a joke. Completely overwhelmed. What keeps this guy from getting cut?
Thumbs up to Clovis Died!

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Josh Barnett vs Hideki Suzuki was the craziest match I have ever seen. It was like WWE on steriods (no pun intened) Powerbombs, Suplexes, Boston Crab it was nuts Barnett won by pinning Suzuki with a 3 count!

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Part of it may have been Phan, but Hettes looked really good. Constant energy, making all the right moves - kid looked good. Looking forward to seeing him fight again.
