Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Diaz outlanded Condit in regards to head and body strikes, Condit got more strikes because of those "little baby leg kicks." While I definitely wouldn't volunteer to take one of them, but the leg kicks looked like they did NOTHING to Diaz. As a matter of fact, Diaz barely flinched when he got hit.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I just rewatched the fight, and I still give 1, 2, and 5 to Diaz. Condit definitely won round 4, and round 3 was close enough to go either way, but with COndit edging it out. I score it 48-47 Diaz.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Do you think Diaz's personality had something to do with the judges being bias towards Condit?slash4pres wrote:I just rewatched the fight, and I still give 1, 2, and 5 to Diaz. Funny how people are counting those kicks as major strikes.
What a joke!

FUCK YES!!!! Dana said the rematch will happen on his twitter! I knew there was gonna be a rematch pretty much any title fight that is that close should be rematched anyway. There needs to be a champion that is the best in the weight class, not just slightly better than number 2. They did it for Edgar/Penn, they did it for Edgar/Maynard, they did it with Shogun/Machida.

True that. This fight was too close to call a definite winner. Diaz could've easily (& should've) been given the win.slash4pres wrote:FUCK YES!!!! Dana said the rematch will happen on his twitter! Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Regarding the Diaz and Condit fight....
I was debating whether to bother even watching it because I assumed Diaz would do what he usually does...get him against the fence and go to town. Condit didn't allow that to happen. He kept bringing it back to the center of the cage (I didn't view it as running....to me it was Condit dictating where the fight would take place--> octagon control). As a whole...I thought Condit did enough to win the fight. Diaz was clearly frustrated and didn't know what to do. He couldn't keep him against the cage nor swarm him with his pitter patter punches.
After reading all the pro Diaz comments and listening to the Cesar Gracie interview on the MMA Hour, it appears people don't want Condit to have won because he didn't fight the way he said he would or fight the way people have come to expect him to. Gracie was making comments about how he had so much respect for Carlos and was disappointed he basically didn't use the Paul Daly game plan of just sitting there throwing punches until one person fell down. Do people honestly believe that someone is going to say before the fight exactly what there game plan is? He is trying sell the fight in addition to giving Diaz a false sense of security that the fight will be in his comfort zone. His ultimate goal is to win, not get ko'd. His best bet at doing so was to avoid being against the cage and getting back to where he is more effective...in the center of the cage. That is,as I said earlier, octagon control. Sorry, just moving forward is not control. If Diaz was moving forward and cutting off the cage, not permitting Condit to exit to the center, then that would have been octagon control.
Having said all that, i do think it's kind BS to have Condit fight Diaz again. I hate when the UFC does these "do overs" because they didn't get the result they wanted. Because Diaz throws a temper tantrum like a 10 year old, GSP isn't happy, and they lose out on the big pay day....they are going to force a rematch. If Diaz had won,,,,there would be no rematch. Same thing happened when Edgar beat Penn...it wasn't what they wanted so they forced a rematch. In all sports, it doesn't matter how you win, by how many points, only what the end result is.
I consider myself a fan of Diaz's fights and was looking forward to seeing him fight GSP. I gotta admit though that I like when things like this happen, because it reinforces for me the disparity between MMA and boxing....UFC actually puts guys in fights that are a viable threat and anyone can win or be ko'd....in boxing, most of the fights are not evenly matched or when they are...it usually feels like they are fixed.

That sucks. Imagine if they could book that on the card with Sonnen v Anderson (June in Brazil.)

Can someone please explain to me why Sonnen gets to fight Silva again so soon, and why Bisping was the 2nd runner up?
Where are the others?

Because Sonnen is the only dude recently to almost beat Silva. That said, given his performance against Bisping...you'd better be already working on your game plan, Sonnen.

Now we know what that hissy fit was about...Diaz, 28, who tested positive for marijuana, is a second-time offender in Nevada and, thus, faces a one-year suspension.

yeah, I just read it.
I'm a big Diaz fan, but the UFC should dump him. He's too much of a hassle.
Missing press conferences, etc etc.
Could you imagine if he won the fight what the fall out would've been?
Kiss him goodbye.

I have a feeling Diaz's team must have known something was up this week...when Cesar Gracie was contacted regarding a rematch that Dana tweeted about, all he said was "it's not happening"

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
also, before it got out that it was Nick, somebody tweeted Cesar Gracie & was told that he (Gracie) could not say anything. Which led the writer to believe it was Diaz.EddieVanHeineken wrote:I have a feeling Diaz's team must have known something was up this week...when Cesar Gracie was contacted regarding a rematch that Dana tweeted about, all he said was "it's not happening"

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
If anything pot negatively affects your performance, slows down your reflexes etc. Maybe that would explain why Nick has no head movement or footwork but that's just his style and I seriously doubt he was high during the fight...THC stays in your system for quite some time, it's not like he was on meth or crack.

Well.....shit. Prepare for the snoozefest GSP and Condit. Decision anyone?

Condit might catch GSP, but I doubt it. This fight has all the makings of the Shields fight.Clovis Died wrote:Well.....shit. Prepare for the snoozefest GSP and Condit. Decision anyone?
What cracks me up is how many think that Diaz was high during fight, or smoked the night before.
I seriously doubt that.

Yeah, I have not smoked pot in 15 years (god I'm old) but when I was baked fighting was not on the top of my list.
As safe as Condit was playing it on Diaz, I could even see him take it up a notch with GSP. Chances are GSP will not be the aggressor either.
That's what I like about Diaz, he is not trying to be your pal before the fight. He is there you kick your ass with his vicious abdomen slaps he likes to throw.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I read that Joe Rogan watched the fight again, and would've given it to Diaz. Remember during the fight he was all about what Condit was doing? And how he was winning the fight? After second viewing, not so.Clovis Died wrote:yeahbuddy wrote:Condit might catch GSP, but I doubt it. This fight has all the makings of the Shields fight.Clovis Died wrote:Well.....shit. UFC on Fox is looking like shit too. Good ole Dana, telling us fans he is doing it for us. Jim Miller v. Nate Diaz for a main event? Rest of the card is decision city except for the Heavyweight fight.

Miller vs Diaz should be a good fight.Clovis Died wrote:UFC on Fox is looking like shit too. Good ole Dana, telling us fans he is doing it for us. Jim Miller v. Nate Diaz for a main event? Rest of the card is decision city except for the Heavyweight fight.
For free? Absolutely! As a main card ppv? Ahh, no.
UFC has got a lot of bases to cover-
Fox, ppv, Fuel tv. That's a lot fights they gotta come up with, especially when so many fights have to be changed because of an injury.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
You go JDS v Cain, Evans v Davis, both easy main events, to Miller v Diaz. I mean free is free which is good, and I want the UFC on Fox to work, which means we could get some killer cards, but it seems it is going in the wrong direction......fast.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
The next Fox card looks pretty good to me, but keep in mind that it's not until May so the card could change a lot. I'm pretty psyched for Miller vs. Diaz, they are 2 of my favorite lightweights. Johnson vs. Barry is guaranteed to be a standup war. Koscheck vs Hendricks could go the way of Pierce/Kos, but I think Hendricks will keep it standing and get the KO because of Kos's predictable standup. Palhares vs Belcher should also be good too, I see Palhares winning by sub or it going to decision in a grappling war, Belcher is a blackbelt too but not on Palhares' level. I actually see it being much better than UFC on Fox 2.
I just picked up Undisputed 3 today, I haven't gotten a chance to play it, but I can't wait to stomp of some skulls!
