The NFL needs to make a rule against "throwing" the season (to get the #1 draft pick), like the Colts did.

It's true. Favre just kept coming. He was like some kind of unstoppable, game-losing INT throwing zombie.bigbuttskinner wrote:Gotta stand up for what is right, here. Saints did break the rules. As much as they tried, Favre still kept coming.

Ooooh....the IRS sounds like they're getting involved now. The NFL has already done their legwork and they have names and amonts of unclaimed income.

I'm hearing Williams won't be allowed to coach at all this season. They're talking about taking away the Saints franchise tag ability for at least one year. Since they just tagged Brees, will that make him an unrestricted free agent?eddie lee roth wrote:Gregg Williams just watched the latest Peyton Manning video and has put out a league wide fiddy cent bounty.

Saints are going to be receive a very harsh penalty and they certainly deserve the harsh punishment.johnk5150 wrote:I'm hearing Williams won't be allowed to coach at all this season. The NFL has to protect their brand. The NFL can not look the other way, even if "a lot of teams" are doing the very same thing.
Saints were stupid enough to get caught 1st, so they will pay the ultimate price.
You go Goodell!!

Re: Saints CHEATED, Super Bowl Victory TAINTED
I find it funny they need extra incentive to hit quartebacks in the playoffs for example in this situation "Kurt Warner" "Brett Farve" as the reward to going to the superbowl is not enough reason to give all you have.
Most teams give all they have in playoffs which is why they playoffs are even better then regular NFL games cause it's so close to the superbowl and you lose you go home.Again the fact they needed this extra push to give more then 100 percent with everything on the line is ridiculous.

ESPN.COM features an article written by someone who suggests
Sean Peyton should be fired for having knowledge of the situation and
doing nothing to stop it.
Sounds a little extreme, but I would not totally disagree with that.

so glad NFL will take care of this bounty thing. Now my Chiefs with Orton can win the AFC West in 2013
Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"

You mean the same Orton lead Chiefs that defeated the Denver Broncos AT HOME to end the 2011 season, handing them their 3rd straight loss and didn't allow Teblow in the end zone?LAglamrocker wrote:so glad NFL will take care of this bounty thing. Sounds like you may not have to worry about crying about Orton anymore LA13, Cassel will return as starting QB for the team..

for fuck's sakes. WHAT IS THE RULE???? i'd like to see what the rulebook says on what the penalty is. i'm not doubting the cockloving gingertard. all i've heard on the radio and in the paper and on here is that the nfl has a rule but not one fucking person can explain it.Tenacious_Dio wrote:
There's a rule against it, and the Saints will get hit hard. They're not the only ones who do it, but they're the ones who got caught. In this "player safety first" era, Goodell will want to make an example of them. I'm guessing they'll lose a few draft picks.

Letting a pissed off Brees become a free agent would be a huge punishment for them. It could make some very interesting football this year.johnk5150 wrote:I'm hearing Williams won't be allowed to coach at all this season. I'm sure teams would be willing to let go of Romo, Sanchez, Flacco or Alex Smith among others in a heartbeat if Brees became available.

Pure speculation.
Until Goodell says Payton is fired, this is not news.

All I've heard is that it is a suspendable, fineable and taking away of draft picks type of "crime". I don't think it's a lose your job type of one.Machado wrote:Pure speculation.

I've heard similar. Never once have heard that Payton has been dismissed.Facedown wrote:All I've heard is that it is a suspendable, fineable and taking away of draft picks type of "crime". I don't think it's a lose your job type of one.Machado wrote:Pure speculation.

The penalty needs to be severe enough so that no other NFL team even thinks about doing this sort of thing ever again.
i.e.
Payton and The Saints will be made examples of and probably receive a penalty that will be described as, "severe"

Re: Saints CHEATED, Super Bowl Victory TAINTED
When federal invesigators start sniffing around this professional booster and looking into paying players to intentionally hurt QBs and fuck with gambling lines, Payton's going to have to worry about more than being fired. The NFL told the Saints to stay away from that guy and they ignored them. This story is growing.Facedown wrote:All I've heard is that it is a suspendable, fineable and taking away of draft picks type of "crime". This guy. Payton is in bed with him in many business ventures. This trail leads all the way to the head coach. Badly.Crazy Levi wrote:What do you mean?johnk5150 wrote:The NFL told the Saints to stay away from that guy and they ignored them.

It's really an interesting story. This is the kind of stuff we are used to hearing about NCAA sports...but this is the PROs so who cares?johnk5150 wrote:This guy. Well, I guess the NFL. Just like the NCAA, they make their own decisions. Could end badly for the Saints.
In the end, I don't think Peyton will be suspended. This ISN'T college, after all. BUt he's gonna end up with a Bellicheckesque fine for sure.
