How do you like your bullpen to begin the season?
Aceves is closing while Bailey recovers from his injury.
Bard is a starter. Can't count on him to get 3 outs in the 8th anymore.
I dont know yet. Surely the FO expected Bailey to spend time on the DL ( trading for Melancon ). It seems like they fucked up not giving the 12.5m to Pappelbon ( which they didnt have, thank you Theo ). They have 40m in pitchers on the DL.
See Im not sold on Bard as a starter he's a thrower, not a pitcher. I do take solace in the fact that Epstein will never win in Chicago though.

Unless I read wrong, this morning I read Bailey will be out for 3-4 months after having surgery on that thumb. That is a long time to be without a legit closer.
Something tells me Bard will eventually be placed back in the pen.

Bolded teams are playing their home openers.
Marlins' bats woke up huge tonight. Hanley, Buck and Infante all went yard...Infante fell a single shy of the cycle tonight, damn! And he did a full body extension dive for a ball that resulted in an out. How that was NOT a web gem, I'll never know. And I fucking. LOVE. Jose Reyes. <3
Tigers sweep the Sox and the Rays sweep the Yankees. My weekend can't get much better than that. I know its only 3 games into the season but I still love it.

He doesn't see to have his power back quite yet but he's making good contact. And yet for some reason - because he always defers to the veterans - Scioscia insists on batting Torii Hunter behind Pujols. Two out of three games so far we've had a lineup of Pujols-Hunter-Wells-Morales. Gah. Hopefully Scioscia is just tinkering with the lineup and will eventually figure out what everybody else knows, Morales belongs behind Pujols.

Ozzie messed up. In Miami, in Little Havana, Fidel Castro is their "Hitler".
I'm not surprised the protesters are out there, I'm not surprised there has been so much negative reaction from the latin community and cuban americans living in Miami.
Someone should have advised Ozzie that while he is managing the team, never bring up the name Fidel Castro. It's a no win situation.
One thing I'll give Ozzie credit for is he showed some maturity, flew down to Miami and faced the media. He could have done what so many cowards have before and released a statement.
At the very least he faced the media, did not read from a piece of paper and talked from his heart.

Its Albert Pujols while I think they massively overpaid, if there is anyone that you dont need to worry about...its him.
Anyone see Seattle come back in the top of the ninth against Texas last night? That was a good game and possibly enough evidence for Wedge to start Jaso over Olivio.

Yeah, I was just making a funny. I'm much more worried about our bullpen, which just blew its second game in a row, this time in big style. We just called up our hottest pen prospect, hope he helps somehow. And, Scott Downs might be out for a bit. That hurts.
Brian Wilson might need TJ surgery ( his second of his career ). It's crazy about SF's luck really. Go to defend their title and lose Posey for the year. Get Posey back, add Melky Cabrerra ( who might repeat his breakout season in KC ) and now Wilson's gone? Damn.
What a complete 9th inning clusterfuck last night. That was a TEAM meltdown. Bell was bad enough, but he was not helped by 3 errors. THREE ERRORS!! Poor Zambrano. Z pitched well after a 35 pitch 1st inning, thankfully allowed only 1 run. Shitty ass way to lose.
Well, if the Sox suck this year, at least the clubhouse shit will be fun.
Bobby V shits on Youk, Youk (shockingly) keeps his cool and then Pedroia shits on Bobby V.

Valentine's hiring was a PR move after last September. Everything Schilling said about the team hating him is turning out to be true. It's going back to the Wade Yankee days.
Speaking of which Clemens is going to be tried (again) this spring.

Kill-The drama is getting very good.
Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia backed his fellow infielder in comments to reporters.
"I really don't know what Bobby is trying to do," Pedroia said Monday. "That's not the way we go about our stuff around here. He'll figure that out. The whole team is behind Youk. We have each other's backs here."
Pedroia was then asked whether he thought Valentine perhaps was trying to light a fire under Youkilis, who is hitting .200 on the young season.
"Maybe that works in Japan," Pedroia said, referring to Valentine's successful stints as a manager in that country.
I can't recall the last year that I've given up on an Angels team so quickly. They're off to a typical Scioscia slow start and Texas is ridiculously good. They've already dug themselves an incredibly deep hole.
It's gonna be a long summer, but at least tickets will be cheap on stubhub.

Texas is terrifying and will be for a while. BaseballAmerica ranks them with the #1 farm system.
I think everyone knew when Nolan took the helm he was going to turn that team around.
