Uk played about as good as they could play in the 1st half,........and about as bad in the 2nd. Kansas fought hard and never gave up, just as you'd expect. Great game. The haters are hatin', but that's ok. We'll hang this banner and be proud of it. Coach Cal had done a helluva job in 3 years here, especially after the absolute hot-mess that Billy G left this place in. Alot of people hate Coach Cal, but I guarantee if he was coaching your team........you'd love him.
Hell yeah, another Wildcat fan! Here's to hoping that we'll be hanging #9 363 days from now!

Pretty GDed amazing what Cal has accomplished in his 3 short years here after the BCG fiasco. BCG, recruiting/signing kids when they were in the 8th fucking grade  (if you ever get a chance, check out where all of those extremely young recruits he signed on ended up and think about how horrible we would be were he still here - I'm talking LUCKY to even MAKE the N.I.T. - THAT is how fucking HORRIBLE that guy was while he was here).

Calipari = the BEST coach in Div.I college basketball currently. In this "one & done" system, he simply has figured out the way to best work it. He can simply get these mega HS stars to learn to drop their egos and learn to play team ball. I have no clue how he pulls it off sometimes, but he does. Hope he's here for many more years to come though I honestly think the "overzealousness" of a LOT of our fanbase (way too many that take it way too far in their fandom) will end up driving him outta here in around 5 yrs., 7 tops - just IMO. Now that he has won a NC, some of these moron fans will be expecting him to bring the hardwire home EVERY YEAR and that is just NOT going to happen. Winning a NC takes a lot of talent along with some sprinkles of luck. Period. The BEST team absolutely DOES NOT always bring the hardware home.

But hey, lets enjoy our dominance while we have him!

Skate4RnR wrote:WHOO! What a ride! Pretty good rebuilding year. Congrats to UK, the best team in the nation no doubt. They're bad and they proved it. That game was fun. I'm glad for those guys. Hats off to 'em, they're the best of the best and this tourney proved it.

See ya next year!
Sorry to have to beat your Jayhawks and the whole Thomas Robinson story really pulls at the heartstrings, even to a really CYNICAL bastard (at least I would hope - lest I would wonder if you even possessed a heart).

But only one team can win it and KY. really was the best team in college basketball this year.

I will say this, your Jayhawks played that game with a shitload of heart and they made a run for it with everything they had in the 2nd half - they REALLY WANTED it - and had they been playing anyone other than UK, I think they would have won it going away....period!

So Kansas fans don't have a DAMN thing to hang their heads about.

Hope you guys have a great team next year, I'm not really all that familiar with what kind of recruits you guys have coming in.

I do know that UK already has 2 MONSTER recruits and I keep hearing rumors that they're soon to sign the #1 (Nerlens Noel), #2 (Shabazz Muhammed) and #7 (Anthony Bennett). We get those 3, along w/#16 (Alex Poythress - whom, after dominating in the McD's game, they are saying they are upping him beyond the 16th ranking the a possible top 10 ranking - who knows? - he did look REALLY good though).

I have NO CLUE if ANY of our really good players will return (I doubt it), but who knows. But we land those 1st 3 I mentioned above, and hanging another NC banner next year is DEF. a very high possibility. We DO have PG Harrow, who transferred here from NC St. and had to sit out this last year and he's supposed to be pretty damned good (he and CJ Leslie, whom both went to NC st. were both highly ranked in their class - but Harrow felt he would have a far better chance at attaining his NBA goals if he transferred and played for Calipari and in Calipari's system, which really centers heavily around PGs).

That one missing ingredient will be that senior leadership that a guy like Darius Miller brought to this years NC team. A lot of people really underestimate just how important that upperclassman leadership is for these Frosh. Add in the fact that Jones and Lamb were returning Soph. and that just simply set up the perfect storm for winning a NC.

That's why all the fanatics screaming "we land 2 or even all 3 of those recruits, we'll be hanging banner #9 next yr. easily" might just be proved quite wrong. To Cal's credit, he has signed a couple of recruits that are more in the mid-20's/lower 30's in ranking (but look to be EXTREMELY athletic and will grow into 3 or 4 yr. players most likely) as well as Wiltjer coming back (and he should bulk up a bit and improve quite a bit - I think he'll stay for AT LEAST 3 years, maybe all 4 TBH). So Cal is no dummy and he IS setting up some guys that will prob. grow into all-stars but not in just a yrs. time, giving us some upper-classmen leadership in a few years.

So after all the above rambling, do you know much about what kind of recruits Self's bringing in next yr. Skate? Any idea in what range Kansas is projected pre-season?

You're a fucking inbred moron yourself old man, but I'll respect my elders and not even bother doing the 5 or 10 min. worth of googling that it would take to show you just how far up your ass your head is firmly lodged. Now get to bed, old fucks like need their rest.

Yeah, don't remind me of that - blah, I hate the MFYs. If they seriously win the GD W.series again this yr., man, I can't root against UK, but it will make it at the very least feel a little better, knowing that the MFY's won't be "guaranteed" a WS victory if they don't win it all next yr., etc

Go to the baseball thread - everybody let me know what they think about the Votto deal from Mon.....

I couldn't agree more about Billy G. He was the worst possible coach for UK. He was in way over his head. He treated Josh Harrelson like a fucking dog and NEVER played him. Two years later, after playing for Cal, he was drafted and plays every night in the NBA. Darius Miller almost transferred out of Kentucky because of Billy G. Miller proved to be the player that held this young team together. ............ahhhh fuck Billy G.

I hope Cal retires here myself, but to be honest, he looked like he couldn't even be happy and enjoy winning the Championship yesterday. I hope he was just tired. I'm with 'em, win or lose, but it's sure been a helluva lot of fun these last 3 years with Cal coaching the Big Blue.

ESPN's early TOP 25 has Kansas at #3 and KY at #4(of course this will change if KY gets the usual one and done's who have not committed)

The Jayhawks are projected to lose Thomas Robinson, and they will lose Tyshawn Taylor. But have we learned our lesson not to dismiss anything Bill Self does with this program? Kansas might lose Jeff Withey, but don't be surprised if he stays with more touches coming his way. Newcomers Perry Ellis and Ben McLemore will be instant studs. Kansas isn't going anywhere.

Bowaffle! Forgot you were a Wildcat fan.

Awesome.

Seriously, everybody knows we've lost before but this one was really different. Being the underdog was great because there wasn't any disappointment, just had fun and enjoyed the ride.

It's not a big deal when you know you'll be right back in it!

Wasn't too long ago poor Kentucky had Gillespie takin' 'em to the NIT. What a climb.

Earlier this week I recorded a program about "the state of college sports" with
Bob Costas on NBC Sports Network. Never knew this channel existed until I found it by mistake.
Does anybody else have this channel? Did you see the 2 hour program? I am only 15 minutes into it and Jay Bilas & Doug Flutie are having a difference of opinion. Very entertaining to watch so far.

You realize that's an ad for next year, right? That's what the 2013 means.

Or are you trying to point out something else?

The 2013 isn't circled (for a reason), genius.
