It's odd being in L.A. where there are a bunch of 'classic' places and really only one new one in Staples. The facelifts for the '84 Olympics make some places look even more decrepit. Dodger Stadium has the advantage of being new enough to not look like the older parks and the land that allows them to add merch and concessions that seem modern. But unless you're going for an event, the arenas/stadiums kinda suck.
Recently I hit a couple places that really floored me:
*Cowboys Stadium! I don't like the team, but had to see the place when going through Dallas. I thought Reliant in Houston was amazing but wow Jerry Jones must have been jealous of anything and everything they built in Houston. The size... the set-up... the Tom Landry statue... Leon Lett having a locker... Offering $11 beers to people taking the tour in June... Great place! The tour was $17.50 for those who care, but it's fun to go on the field and see people posing on the star and throwing passes to their kids.
*Talladega Speedway! Hey it's fun because of the Will Farrell movie too, but they house the International Motorsports Hall Of Fame Museum. There are a ton of great things to see ranging from the Kool Aid sponsored car that crashed into a wall that's in shambles to the Budweiser Rocket Car that set the land speed record in the 70's. A track tour and the museum was $14... and considering what it costs out here to go to someplace like Universal, that's a fuckin' bargain.

Actually pitched in a Little League game at Fenway Park in 1978. Was very cool and awesome. Rick Burelson and Fred Lynn helped coach my team.
