Harbaugh should have said that Kap is the QB right now because A. Smith is suffering from a concussion.
Instead Harbaugh said the team will "go with the hot hand". WTF!!!
Kap has 1 very good game, in his 1st career start and suddenly he's the man for the starting QB job over Alex? Does not make sense.

Machado: The top QBs in the game are mostly 1st round picks.
Rodgers- 1
P Manning- 1
Brees- 2
Ryan- 1
Brady- 6
Rothlisburger - 1
E Manning- 1
Schaub- 3
Flacco - 1
Romo - UFA
Dalton- 2
I think that covers most of them. I'll include Luck and RG3 because they'll both be elite before it's said and done. Point is, the Brady's of the world are few and far between. Yeah most of them bust, but go big or go home.

Re: NFL 2012 Thread
Yeah, it would be nice if Harbaugh wouldn't talk to the media much. I agree that one game is not enough to declare a starting QB. They've already been involving Kaepernick more in the overall gameplan, so Smith would already have to expect an increased presence from Kaepernick after a game like Mondays. No need to publicly state anything, really.Machado wrote:noam_bombsky wrote:Nice to see the niners make a statement against the bears after struggling against st. louis last week! It's obvious that Cutler being out was a bigger blow to the bears than Smith being out was to the niners, but I don't think many were expecting the bears defense to be overpowered like they were. San Fran should be near the top of the power rankings now...

It's about as ridiculous as the whole "We were never going to try to sign Peyton Manning, I just flew 3000 miles to watch him practice" shit he was saying in the off season.
It's like granny always said: "Some turds float to the top; some turds sink to the bottom. In the end, they all get flushed."
Re: NFL 2012 Thread
Everything Harbaugh says and does regarding the QB position suggests he's not a Smith fan and wants to replace him.

Ouch no mention of Newton or Stafford. In other Lions news, Titus Young suspended by the Lions for the Thanksgiving game for basically being a self absorbed asshole. He will probably be signed by Dallas or Oakland when he gets released next year.bane wrote:Machado: The top QBs in the game are mostly 1st round picks.

Re: NFL 2012 Thread
I really should have mentioned Stafford. My bad. That was an unintentional oversight, as he belongs with the cream of the crop. Newton has sucked this year. He had a great rookie year, but so did Vince Young. That guy really isn't worthy of that kind of props right now IMO. Im not ready to write him off, maybe it's just a sophomore slump, but he isn't in the same company as the guys I mentioned right now as far as I'm concerned.sin wrote:Ouch no mention of Newton or Stafford. Detroit is one stupid football team. Bad play calling, dumb clock management, and it seems as if nobody is aware of the game situation. They should have won that game today. The coaches have to take the blame for that one. Up by 7 with around 8 minutes to go and just out of field goal range. Instead of trying to manage the clock and get into field goal range to go up by two scores they start taking shots down field. Get into FG range first, take some time off the clock, and then try to put the game away. Then in OT they were in field goal range and try running the ball straight up the middle into a defense that was expecting it, lose 2 yards, and end up missing a FG they would have otherwise made. I haven't seen many of their games this year. Do they always do stupid shit like this?

RG3 is 17/23 for 272 and 4tds, plus 30 yards from 4 rushes.
Not too shabby with 10 minutes remaining.
Two weeks ago I'd have said Luck was RotY. The picture's not so clear now.

RG3 is FAR AND AWAY the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year right now, in every quantifiable category that matters. He has only 4 INTS, a ton of TDs, rushing yards up the ass, is throwing for 70 percent, and is singlehandedly carrying a banged up football team with many holes on his back.demolition23 wrote:RG3 is 17/23 for 272 and 4tds, plus 30 yards from 4 rushes.

You can't compare him with any other rookies right now, regardless of team records.
The entire country saw it today. Skins 0-6 lifetime vs. Dallas on Thanksgiving? Yeah, not anymore. The Skins defense - particularly the secondary - is still scary. No lead is safe. But when this team gets healthy, and maybe adds a couple pieces, look out. At least looking at the records, RG3 singlehandedly has this team in the NFC East title race.
And "free agent bust" Pierre Garcon also had a fabulous game, showing what he can actually do when he gets on the field. And he's not even healthy.
Not much out of UncleGreg'sAssBoy lately. Where is he these days? Find some other black QB to talk shit about, on some other message board?

The coach is an idiot for that, but the rule is also fairly idiotic. How is throwing out a challenge at teh wrong time such an egregious act that it should result in something that should have been reviewed being let go? Stupid.exitflagger wrote:Well no shit. You still drunk from Thanksgiving??? Calm down. Roger Griffith III had a good game, but look at who he was playing. Dallas is beyond pathetic. Most of his big passes were to WIDE OPEN receivers. All I saw beyond that is a guy who runs around a lot and gets hit a lot. Don't get me wrong, he played well and won them the game. But I certainly didn't see anything that "wowed" me. And Garcon is still a bust until he proves he can stay healthy and produce consistently.Crazy Levi wrote:RG3 is FAR AND AWAY the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year right now, in every quantifiable category that matters. The Lions really did get screwed in this game. At the same time, they had plenty of chances to win and didn't take advantage. The Texans played like shit and got the game handed to them by the refs and the Lions themselves. Schwartz is a fool for throwing the flag, but he should never even been in that position. It's pathetic that the refs could not get such an easy call right. The runner was so obviously down that the refs must have been the only people in the whole stadium that thought he wasn't. Inexcusable and pathetic.sin wrote:I was too nervous to notice, but my wife said it looked like Hanson and the kick holder felt rushed to get the kick off. As for the rule of not being able to review if you illegally throw the flag, it's a dumb rule and will be changed by next year.

Watching Jim Schwartz fuck that game up for his team was amazing. Who settles for a 47 yard FG, and on 3rd down? He still had that smug look on his face the whole time he was blowing it. Fuck him.

I didnt think there was any chance he'd miss that kick. Credit where it's due, Houston was lucky today. The Detroit passing game is pretty amazing. Texans were banged up on defense and Stafford carved them up like a thanksgiving turkey. The Forsett TD was a bizarre sequence of events. I'm not going to say it cost Detroit the game because who knows whether or not Houston scores on that drive anyway, but that's a really dumb rule. Finally, there's something wrong with that Suh dude. Seriously.sin wrote:

Andrew Leaf will need to have a good game to keep pace. Another 4 turnover day probably won't cut it.

Did y'all see Mark Sanchez run into his own offensive lineman's ass and fumble for a Patriot TD?
It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
PS. As a Skins fan I am still wary of crowning RG3 as Our Lord and Savior. This team won't be fixed till Snyder is OUT. They'll find a way to break my heart over and over again, they always have. At least they're fun to watch.

Luck just has to keep doing what he's doing and he will win this thing comfortably. Voters value a QB that makes plays with his arm and wins games, over a QB who scrambles a lot, takes sacks, and occasionally can hit a wide open receiver fairly well.Crazy Levi wrote:Good luck on Sunday excuse machine.

Still, he's been behaving himself for several years now. As long as he stays out of it there is a chance.
And the team was fun to watch last year.

Luck started great, but RG3 has gained on him hugely.
LAST 4 Games:
Luck: 1291 yds (really good) 5tds (mediocre) 5 (bad)
RG3: 903 yds (solid) 9tds (good) 1 int (excellent)
If the Skins get close to the playoffs and/or Luck doesn't finish strong I'd say RG3 has a solid shot at it.
