I heard 7yrs/180mil.

Edit - I guess 7/180 would be the total including his 2 remaining years.

That option could net him 200 Mil. Not bad work if you can get it.

Just went over the schedule and realized the Astros are out of the division. Chicago Cubs, your last place table is ready for you again!

More than likely; but, man is it going to be ugly in Houston this year. I'm thinking they'll surpass the Mets 120 loss mark this century. Although getting new ownership ( means that GM Ed Wade is gone ) and implementing a new system could be interesting.

The Stos' brought in Jeff Luhnow from St. Louis to GM for them and he has some interesting ideas such as piggybacking young pitchers ( I just read about this this morning ). Which means the 5 man rotation essentially becomes a 10 man rotation with pitchers rotating to ensure they all accumulate the same IP for their development. It's something used in A ball. Sounds too "works on paper" to me.

Anyways it'll be interesting to see what happens in Houston, maybe they become like the next Tampa Bay soon. Anyone is better than who they had at GM previously.

Oh and Miami called up their #1 prospect ( ranked #13 overall ) Jose Fernandez. He was drafted #14 in the first round in 2011. He went 14-1, 1.75ERA,10.6K/9, 2.4BB/9 in 2 class A leagues last season. They think he has the potential to be a #1 or 2 so welome to the bigs.

*edit* He's being straddled with a 150-170IP limit this season.

Curious deal there. Really thought the would trade him with Profar in the wings. Greatly overpaying as well.

Holy shit in the opening day game I was most looking forward to seeing San Fran at the "New New York Yankees 2.0" LA Dodgers, Clayton Kershaw hit a HR in the eighth when the Giants BP imploded.

How many Cy Young winners have hit a HR before? I can't think of one.

*edit*

Fernando Valenzula won the Cy in 1981, he also hit 10HRs over his career.

Yu Darvish has a perfect game through 8, vs the Astros. 14 K's to boot.

Hope I didn't just jinx it...

I actually feel bad. Some guy named Marwin Gonzalez just singled with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to ruin it.

You don't think Darvish was on Sludge, between innings, to stay loose, do you?

If I was at Minute Maid Park tonight I'd be pissed right about now. Seeing a perfect game tossed by the opposition will probably be the highlight of the year for 'Stros fans.

That piggyback rotation thing is supposedly just being used by all their farm teams. Luhnow is kind of a mad scientist though, so who knows? He's traded away almost every single vet they have, so the big club looks more AAA than major league, but their farm system has gone from one of the worst in baseball to one of the best in a very short time. I think they're going to be horrendous this season, and probably next as well, but once those kids start getting big club ready they should be set to compete for a long time. It's going to be at least 2015 before anyone in Houston can get very excited about their team's chances though. Personally, I like the long view, but new unis and new league or not, it's going to be a very long season in Houston.

Hey Kill- I just stopped by to correct any Red Sux posts for you. You haven't posted those words in this thread so that I could fix them. What the hell is up with that? I went all the way back to January too.

Maybe I should say something about baseball?

Um......... I love my Yankees- but I am not at all optimistic this year. Too many hip injuries. Maybe the best I can hope for is a finish above .500.

Awesome. Mariano returns, as does RubyKane. It's too easy to pick on the MFY this season. Boston may have Dempster ( WTF? ) but I would still rather not be NY. Gonna be ugly in the Bronx.

That is pretty funny, however I am glad Davis and the O's have left Tampa as he singlehandedly crushed the Rays. After game one and the opening shot in game two I was screaming for them to just walk him! (also we got dicked in the 9th yesterday).

And the fact that Kevin Youkilis is tarnishing that uniform by putting it on makes me sick. It would be a dream come true for me if the Yanks won the WS, yet somehow he still lost.
There are certain things that should never be- and him wearing pinstripes is one of those things.
