Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Anybody care about tonight's fights?
Me? I will watch, but not really.
Hopefully the Korean Zombie shocks the world,
but I doubt it.
The Machida fight will be the typical Machida fight.
Davis will try to take him down & not do it. Machida
will counter punch the entire fight. And Davis might
& that's a big might make a mistake & Machida will
take him out, but I doubt it.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Too bad for KZ man, Aldo was getting tired.
First guy who wins ONE of the first three rounds will be the next champion in that weight class.

Yeah he was & I agree with you.mullet_head wrote:Too bad for KZ man, Aldo was getting tired.

I don't know if this makes sense or not, but to me Aldo doesn't fight like a champion. When he had KZ against cage he was doing absolutely nothing.
Even if Machida won the fight, he did nothing to show he should be next in line to lose to Jones.
Davis pushed the pace & got the take downs when they counted most.
Good win for Davis.
Overall a pretty good night of fights huh?
Oh yeah, thumbs up to Brian Stann. Was this is first fight that he got to call?
If so, he did a good job. Actually like him more than Rogan.

Talk about kicking a man when he is down.
This takes it to an entirely different level.

Thing is, he's been fighting more like this SINCE he became the champion whereas before he was an absolute animal.yeahbuddy wrote: I don't know if this makes sense or not, but to me Aldo doesn't fight like a champion. When he had KZ against cage he was doing absolutely nothing.
His method of securing the first 3 rounds and coasting on the last two is frustrating as hell to watch.
Rogan gets on my nerves usually but I miss him if something big happens and he issn't there. I would have loved to watch him lose his shit in the stann vs wanderlei fight.yeahbuddy wrote: If so, he did a good job. Actually like him more than Rogan.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
The stann vs wanderlei fight was absolutely brutal.
Funny when Stann was introduced last night, I wanted
to go watch that fight again.
Machida wants a rematch. I'm tired of these fighters losing
& wanting a rematch. If they would've taken care of
business there would be no need.
I think the only fighter who lost and didn't want a rematch
was Anderson Silva.
I do love when Rogan gets excited. How about when Mir submitted
Big Nog. His call was great. That's another fight I have to watch
again.

Well,
its revealed today the reason Aldo didn't deliver any of his kicks was because he broke his foot with his first kick of the night.

Still, KZ fought his heart out, deserves a lot of credit imo.

Who's watching the Fox Sports 1 debut show this evening? Looks like a good night of fights from top to bottom. Yeah, they could have a better headliner, but it should still be an interesting match up. Wondering what Overeem is going to bring tonight. He went back to Holland to train his standup. Brown isn't a slouch either. Joe Lauzon is always in crazy fights. This Connor McGregor kid has a lot of hype behind him, but this is a tough fight for him.

I will be watching. I just have to figure out if we get the Fox Sports 1 channel or not. I've read it is taking over for the Speed channel & I have no clue where it is. When I look it up online for my time warner area it shows a channel # I don't get. I might have to go to my go to ufc online viewing pleasure website.EddieVanHeineken wrote:Who's watching the Fox Sports 1 debut show this evening? WOW Overeem got knocked the fuck out, this has been one sick card so far. Way better than the last few ppvs for sure.
I'm think I'm going to bed so that the shitty main fight coming doesn't ruin it for me. Who wants to see a guy humping another for 25 minutes.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Overall a great night of fights & a lot of surprises.
It looks like Uriah Hall is nothing special & his freight
train has become permanently derailed.
McGregor looks like the real deal. Max Holloway had no
idea what to do against him.
Brown looks like another Johnny Hendricks in the making.
Faber looked good although do not see him going for a title
shot anytime soon.
And for me of all the fighters in the UFC I get the greatest pleasure
seeing Overeem getting knocked out.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Loved seeing big dumb 'Reem getting KTFO after he should have finished the fight earlier. Kept walking into those kicks.
Good night of fights for sure, except for the boring Hall fight.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Thinking again about last night-
there was a lot of impressive performances.
Who would of thought Sonnen would submit
Shogun in the 1st rd.
How nice was it to see Browne hang in there,
not give up, & take out Overeem.
Faber should've lost that fight. I've never seen
him get nailed like that, and come back the way
he did last night.
What about what McDonald did against Pickett.
Last night had everything. Knockouts, submissions,
ground & pound etc etc etc.
Whether they are doing it by design or not, I like how
the ufc is mixing up the announcers. The Rogan/Goldberg
team has gotten to be stale. Whenever those two are
partnered with somebody else (like last night) its always
a good time.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Was camping this Saturday, just watched most of teh fights. The man and Co main had really unexpected finishes, both Reem and Shogun are most likely going to be gatekeepers at best for the rest of their career. I can't believe Reem couldn't figure out not to plod forward and walk into his front kicks. Were the Lauzon/Johnson, Mcgregor/Holloway, and Faber/Alcantara fights any good? I don't feel like watching them right this second.

Johnson had Lauzon's # from the beginning. Lauzon pretty much did nothing the entire fight.slash4pres wrote:Was camping this Saturday, just watched most of teh fights. McGregor worth watching because after fight he said he hurt his knee & had to change his plan of attack. Holloway looked completely lost because he couldnt get off.
And Faber fight worth watching because I've never seen Faber in trouble the way he was at beginning of fight, and to see him turn it around the way he did was impressive. I don't like Faber at all but was impressed with what he did.
The fight to take a pass on is the Lauzon/Johnson fight.
Been reading today that more than likely Overeem is going to be cut. He makes too much money for what he does.

LOL, Overeem should have been a monster. Watching him back in K1 and Pride, he seemed to have most of the tools to be a success. Maybe he should have just stayed with standup/K1.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
He was basically doing the same thing in pride. Starting off strong against guys like Chuck Liddell, Shogun etc then gassing and getting knocked out. I admit I was somewhat unfamiliar with this HW version of him but seems like he's basically the same.WolfgangVonPage wrote:yeahbuddy wrote:slash4pres wrote:Been reading today that more than likely Overeem is going to be cut. Yeah,slash4pres wrote:Condit tore Kampmann up after the first round.
the fight sure changed at some point in the 2nd. Then that cut happened & it was all down hill for Kampmann.
Still not a fan of Condit, but he looked good.
Does he get a title shot anytime soon?

Condit lost two fights in a row, to GSP and Hendricks. In the GSP fight he went toe-to-toe with him and had a helluva fight. In the Hendricks fight (keep in mind I like Hendricks a lot) he didn't get going until it was too late, and if the fight would have gone one more round Condit would have creamed him. Good to see him getting going sooner now. He should get whomever loses the GSP/Hendricks fight.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I like Condit, dude is fierce as fuck. Never in a boring fight. Well except the Diaz one, he must have though he was Machida.yeahbuddy wrote:Yeah,slash4pres wrote:Condit tore Kampmann up after the first round.

I used to think Cerrone was promising, but after diaz, Pettis and now Dos Anjos it seems like Cowboy isn't going to be more than a gatekeeper at this point.
The fight with Perez and the Jap was awesome, all in all it was a good card with great finishes, I'm starting to enjoy this free cards more than the ppvs currently.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I know liking/disliking certain fighters is subjective, but I can't understand you can say you don't like Condit. I mean the dude brings it every single fight, has a 93% finishing rate in his victories (and the only 2 guys he didn't finish are the Juggernaut who's an absolute beast and Diaz who's pretty much impossible to finish with strikes.) The only fight by his I don't love is the Diaz fight, and even then it was interesting because it was pretty much the perfect strategy to beat Diaz, even though I thought Diaz won rounds 1,2, and 5.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I don't like Condit because of the Diaz fight.
It wasn't a fight. I thought his game plan & strategy was pussy strategy.
Also didn't like how he was the interim champ, but decided not to fight
anyone & would wait until GSP was healthy. He should've called out another fighter before GSP. Or made to fight another fighter before he got the shot @ GSP.
I agree he will probably get the GSP/Hendricks loser.
And yes, Cerrone is nothing but a gate keeper. He can never take the next step into the elite fighters. Everytime he has the chance, he loses.
Another thing about him, if the fight doesn't go his way, he looks confused & cannot change his game plan to be more effective.
I'm not a betting man, but my invisible money is on Pettis Saturday night.
Should be an exciting fight!

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
ufc has been showing the first Pettis/Henderson fight, and that was a great fight.
It could've gone either way until Pettis did his famous kick & what happened after it pretty much sealed the deal for him.
Loved how Pettis stalked Henderson for pretty much the entire fight.
