Washington will take the division. Bravos have zero offense. Freeman can't score all the runs by himself.

And I still say the pitching will fall apart before the season ends.

Atlanta in first a game up. I just don't believe in Washington, I don't see them holding out. I picture a mid season slump that they don't recover from.

Of course it needs to be said.....It's April.

Cub's are in last place, already 6 games out with 4 wins.

ESPN POWER RANKINGS

29th Chicago Cubs

With a pair of series defeats this past week, the Cubs run their streak to nine straight series without notching a series win. The streak dates back to early September 2013.

Soriano happy to be playing for the present.

Alfonso Soriano agreed to a trade to the New York Yankees, he saw the writing on the wall and decided, at 38 years old he didn't have 100 years to wait till the Cub's might have a change to win.

1st Ortiz all week long, now Pedroia arguing ball n strikes. .....maybe asking the most hated player in the sport to take ova for Salty wasnt a very good idea. Then again, why stick with the kind of team chemistry that brought a championship?

18 innings of no run baseball in one day. Why score and try to win when being shutout and swept by the Yankees is so much faster?

At least they're not the Diamondbacks!

#29
Chicago Cubs 4W 10L -13 differential

#30
Arizona 4w 14L -48 differential!

Arizona has given up 115 runs so fucking far! Almost twice the differential then the 2nd worst team.

The Cub's staff seems to be doing ok, just can't get anyone across the plate.

Angels have the best offense in the league and that's without Josh Hamilton (who was on a ridiculous pace before his injury) and Kole Calhoun (who was just warming up before his). If the bullpen can settle down, they have a shot to contend. And, Pujols finally looks good. Not quite 2010 Pujols, but maybe 2011.

If they aren't going to FUCKING SCORE trade those arms. Losing 1-0, 2-0 (twice) and 5-0 is a waste of good starters. Trade them to teams that can use them and get bodies/draft picks.

I'm going to sound like a broken record here but I fucking hate my favorite team.

Travis Wood had a homer and 4 RBI last night.

Anthony Rizzo just called him Travis Trout on Chicago radio.

San Diego's Josh Johnson will undergo his second Tommy John tomorrow. I was expecting him to have quite a resurgence in SD's Petco Park. I thought the Padres picking him up was possibly the steal of the offseason.

:?

I don't think the Cub's are that embarrassing, not in the way I root for Miami but the Cub's have it tough, if they was in the AL $East they'd be in the thick of the weak! Then again they're the Cub's, I like um a bit better then last season.

Dodgers hit a skid and all the issues are still piling up again with Kershaw coming in as "H. Ryu" goes out but I'm not expecting them to magically explode like last year, it's the West so they could blow a month or two and still put something together or hope SF catches the same plague.

The Rockies are destroying at the plate....Looking like Rockies baseball.
Leading the MLB in...Runs, Home Runs, Doubles, Avg, RBI's and SLG.

NL
1. Troy Tulowitzki, COL .408
2. Charlie Blackmon, COL .359
3. Dee Gordon, LAD .342
4. Justin Morneau, COL .333

AZ is destroying the with the bat and Tulo is making a serious NL MVP case. The reason why I think that the Rockies will be fighting for a wildcard is their pitching is suspect.

It's lunacy to count out LAD. They and the Giants will be at each other's throats all season. I see a lot of LA's struggles being the result of Mattingly's management style. He's not Eric Wedge bad, but he's been the blame for some of their losses. This guy is available, LA ( he'll put Puig in in his place ):

Image

SF ( best record ) is doing this with a bullpen of castoffs ( I read at least 3 analysts that lamented SF's lack of bullpen  ), which is 2nd in the league with a 2.03ERA. The addition of a rejuvenated Morse, Dave Righetti as pitching coach, and a staff I don't think have reached their potential. I forsee a battle going down in the NL West this season.

I haven't paid much attention to the Cubs so far. Both they and Seattle are in rebuilding mode. The difference I see is the M's pieces are almost ready. I see those kids as being a headache for the frontrunners and fully competitive next year. According to speculation ( the FO is notoriously tight-lipped ) that's the plan.

As for Epstein's project, I don't see them at that level yet. Aside from a Dodgers/Yankees/Red Sox wallet rebuild, the process takes 5-7 years usually. If I was a Chicago fan I would be getting anxious, but it takes time....sometimes even a 100 years. :D

*edit*

Speaking of Kershaw the Dodgers just activated him from the DL and sent Pedro Baez beck to AA Rancho Cucomanga.

Rancho Cucomango sounds like the ideal setting for an 80s flick.

It's an 80's Mexican Porn flick and a Spanish restaurant dish...Beef substance enchiladas with ranchero sauce and yellow rice sprinkled with Cucomango crust scraped off the grill.

Rancho Cucomango is a Bandito lost in the desert looking for love and finds it by feeding cows Mango's while he gets his Cucomango on.
