Yeah, but Bruins fans aren't blaming the loss on the refs.pieceofme wrote:Kid-Wicked wrote:where was that reffing in the 2011 finals? fuck.

One of my friends did say it was the worst referring he has seen since the 2011 final. Of course the shoe was on the other foot for the Bruins this time.

That's how I read it at first, but Nick Kypreos's assertion that the Pens are holding out for Babcock peaks my interest.wolf wrote: I read this as Shero was told to fire Bylsma, he refused, so ownership fired Shero knowing the new GM will bring in his own coach.
You're right though,Trotz probably isn't coming here without Shero.
ETA : Rumour now that this firing is the result of Shero not firing Bylsma last year at Lemieux's request.

Habs looked fantastic. Let's hope Montreal can set the tone and keep up the same momentum. And not keep getting away with too many on the ice and all the slashing.
It's only one game in I'm guessing a long series ahead.
Win or lose, I'd just like to say thanks to the Hab's for knocking that shitty Bruins team and if they do win and happen to face that shitty Chicago team I hope they beat them as well.
With that being said..........Go Rangers! GO!! Game One = SEVEN - two.

I was at the game. Rangers speed, chip and chase game, was way different then the rock'em sock'em style the B's played.
The Habs were emotionless, after going through a heated series with a bitter rival. There was no "eye of the tiger" like you saw vs the Bruins.
Everyone has been picking the Habs to win the series, so this is a good wake up call. Sharks beat the Kings 6-3 and 7-2 their first 2 games, and look what happened. Habs are well coached, with a lot of leadership, the SHOULD rebound.
Note: all bets are off if Price is hurt, as is being speculated after Chris Kreider ran him over (not on purpose IMO).

Price is alright, everything I've read just looks like he took a shot. Just a precaution pull out after the pile on.
I'm no betting on this series, I expect the Habs to rebound but it's a good start.

Not so sure Price is OK. He came out for 5 minutes, an hour before the Habs, optional practice, worked for 5 minutes, and stopped.UtahRatt wrote:Price is alright, everything I've read just looks like he took a shot. Just a precaution pull out after the pile on.

That's either, "it's fine, I'm OK, going to rest now" or "it feels like shit, I can't skate on it". There's speculation, since there's 2 days between games 2 and 3, and another 2 between 3 and 4, that he might not start on Monday. That's scary.

After watching it 20 times and the way he responded nothing seems extreme, hopefully for hab's fans.....The optional practice is normal. Just test it out then straight to rubdown, ice and rest.WOLF wrote:Not so sure Price is OK. He came out for 5 minutes, an hour before the Habs, optional practice, worked for 5 minutes, and stopped.

Looked like Price just took a good shot.....Some ice, rest and hope it don't swell up during the next game, if he can play though it, it will slowly improve after that, unlike a hammy that will nag you constantly forever.
My 2 cents. If he took a shot he should be good if he makes it through the next game...If it's a tear, spur, hyper ex, joint or pull he'll have bigger issues.

Price out for the series:
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=452556
Can you say open season on Lundqvist?
If one team, particularly the Rangers, goes up by 2-3, look out.
Seriously though, this sucks. Price is an elite goalie. Budaj and Tokarski not so much. This changes the playoffs big time, though I wouldn't pick either team to beat the Hawks or Kings anyways.

WOW. Have they even said what's his condition? After watching him move around it didn't appear that serious. Hab's are gonna have to win this series with heart. Even down by 2 The Rangers are not a brick wall or the best team but losing Price and being down 2.
They're going to need some King magic.
The Rangers have been playing better as the playoffs have been going on but Lundqvist made them look like a beast the last two.

Rumor has it Price has a partial tear of either his ACL or MCL. He wants to play with a brace, but team doctors won't let him because if he tears it completely he'll miss a good chunk of next year and it could be career altering.UtahRatt wrote:WOLF wrote:Price out for the series:

I get a feeling we might see him again this series, but in all honesty the Habs didn't lose game 2 due to their goaltending; they lost it due to the Rangers goaltending.

I can't imagine a goaltender even attempting stepping in front of the net with a ACL/MCL tear. With the way they move like a yoga instructor. No fucking way, it would have to be a micro tear and why risk a full tear? I didn't stay at a Holliday Inn but if he play's it's not torn. He took a shot.

The Habs were lucky to not have a penalty shot called against them, as Emelin and his feet of clay got beat clean, and forced Weise to hook Kreider down from behind.UtahRatt wrote:Goaltending with an ACL tear? I cant imagine anyone tearing an acl then playing a few days later. Maybe micro tears but sometimes a tear can take a week before the swelling goes down enough just to get a good scan. Clearly you'd know more about Ligament knee damage while at the same time I have two torn tendons and have to live with scar tissue mending them up just long enough to pop it again.Kid-Wicked wrote:i play with an acl tear. first time i had the surgery and was off work for 6 weeks. tore it again 4 years ago. not getting the surgery this time. gonna need a knee replacement in my future. the custom made braces are the cat's ass.UtahRatt wrote: Goaltending with an ACL tear? When I pop a Tendon, I'm off work/sports for at least a week, come back with a brace or wrap and it can take 1 to 3 months before the pain goes away. When I tore it the first time I was down for a month to 6 weeks before going back to work/sports.

Guess the Ref's took the night off during the Rangers vs Habs game. Rangers played well but got sloppy and got fucked early and often from the blind zebras. Then it went both ways but over all the Rangers lost the game.
Hat's off to the Hab's, they put in a great game and took advantage when things got sloppy even tho I thought they was out played most of it.
Lundqvist should have rejected that last shot.

I'm still shell shock at how good they've held together and have been playing. I miss Callahan. When he left I didn't think the Rangers would be near as good as they have been in this years playoffs.

Prust suspended 2 games for his head shot on Stepan.
Stepan has a broken jaw; status for rest of series up in the air.
On another note, Habs GM Marc Bergevin was named a candidate for GM of the year, along with Dean Lombardi (LA) and Bob Murray (Anaheim).
