ARod is not my hero. Pay attention and you might learn something.
IMO, the entire steroid era is much ado about nothing. MLB wanted the players to use steroids because the games popularity level was very low.
The strike was a few years old. Teams like the Expos were possibly robbed of a WS title.
Here comes the players with steroids and the next thing the public knows is there are certain players making national headlines and the majority of the country cannot wait until their next at bat.
The game survived and thrived as a result.
IMO, the situation is ridiculous. The players were left out to dry, while the owners and the commish laughed all the way to the bank. The same owners and the commish all washed their hands on the matter and were quick to point fingers anywhere but in their own direction.
If MLB fans wants the 500 foot home runs and offensive/pitching records to be broken, then players will need PED's in order to make that happen.
Me and my trolls? I don't know about trolls, maybe you're playing too much World of War Craft. I hinted but never talked about it over the years but ya, playing football and other sports I met a lot of lower level sports players including knowing and playing against some professional players. So piss off with your ESPN magazine.
Are you daft?Machado wrote: If the MLB fans want the 162 game season and the extended playoffs and for games to be played in November, then players will need those PED's in order to recover from the previous night game and play at a high level.
PED's is a reason players are getting hurt! Steroids UN-naturally builds muscles mass.....It don't strengthen tissue, tendons, ACL or joints leading players to blow more ankles, hamstrings, sprains, ACL's, muscles tears, joint problems and other countless other issues.
Because of Roids a co-player popped a pectoral muscle benching and also needed shoulder surgery because the inflammation in the rotator cuff caused bone spurs and chips. I suffer from the same cuff injury.
Steroids like cortisone can lead to nerve damage, deterioration of cartilage and tissue, osteoporosis, torn tendons and again a countless list of issues.
---------------------------------------------------------
Giving an injured player something so they can play the next night is how players end up with season and career ending injuries. You have no clue how closely that shit needs to be moderated.
I wonder how you tie your shoes in the morning.

I chalked up KC making the WS last year to just being hot at the right time ( ie. CHW in 05' ). They're playing really well this year albeit a little "dickish." According to John Dewan's Stat Of The Week 05/14 KC leads the majors with 30 runs saved.
The top 5:
KC 30
HOU 20
TOR 19
DET 16
TAM 15
The bottom 5:
PHI -36
CHW -21
CLE -19
BOS -15
WAS -15

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Oakland's biggest issue IMO is their defense ( .982 fielding percentage 13 out of 15 in AL ). The reason they brought Washington back into the ranks is his defensive coaching. "He's the best of the best infield coaches in the game." - Elvis AndrewsDOWN2WHISKEY wrote:My A's are stinking up the MLB! Billy Beane needs to make some changes to better the team because his changes this past off season sure ain't helping!
Remember how good Eric Chavez was? Actually that whole A's infield defense ( not 1B ) was spectacular. Chavez gives all the credit to Washington. An early fix like defense is something I would expect Beane to notice and immediately address.
It's still way early. I think once Oakland and Seattle heat up the West is going to be vicious. It's cool as hell about the Astros but I don't think they can retain that pace.
Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
How about that Bryce Harper? He was ejected yet another time a couple days ago in D.C. What a punk? The fact that he has gotten off to a great start makes him even more of a douche.

I think the West will come out as baseball's best this season I believe. Houston looks like the real deal although I still think Seattle wins the division.

I didn't think you were hating on them. Just telling it like it is. I don't think that what they've been doing is sustainable either. I think they're on their way to being a special team, but probably not this year. I hope I'm wrong. After the last few years of dismal baseball it's awesome to see the Astros winning again.

Their on an 8 game losing streak that would drop any team, it happens. I don't know about this HIGH expectations but they have a good team, no ones expecting to contend for the title. They was in 3rd not very far back...I want them to finish 2nd in the division at least but expect a 3rd.....It's all about not being basement dwellers....It's my understanding some idiot built that new stadium the wrong fucking place which is a problem. The only thing I don't like where it's at is that it's just too far away for us, and the man has to get up at 4am for work the next day. Long ass drive and shitty fucking traffic. I was going to ask if you've been to the park it looks nice. They had a number of complaints.....Little Havana was a gripe and said there was much better locations for access but the major reason is it totally pissed off tax payers, a flop of epic proportions. They've brought up other things I can't recall so I did a quick google and came up with this.....Sounds pretty ugly, full of lies, court battles, crooked contractors, fraud and down right criminal activities but who knows, I don't live their.
Six lies about the Marlins stadium
http://www.miaminewtimes.com/news/six-l ... um-6380692
It's a long detailed read, here's a couple small quotes that go into further detail.
-------------------------------------
it is: a $515 million money sucker that is probably the worst deal for taxpayers of any stadium in America.
-----------------
The stadium will rejuvenate Little Havana.
"We're going to have economic vitality in an area I represent that has been neglected for many, many years." — former city Commissioner Joe Sanchez, March 19, 2009, before voting for the stadium
The Ugly Truth: There's little evidence that new stadiums do anything other than enrich their owners. Some scholars even argue the new parks hurt communities by drawing clients away from local bars, restaurants, and theaters.
"If there's any spillover, it doesn't go more than a block or two," says Neil deMause, author of the 2008 book Field of Schemes: How the Great Stadium Swindle Turns Public Money Into Private Profit. "The whole point of a new stadium is to have all this shopping and food inside so you spend all your money there."
---------------------------------------
Then there's this: Miami-Dade County leaders were so incompetent in negotiating the project that they stuck taxpayers with interest rates that would have made a mid-housing-bubble speculator gasp. By the time the bonds are paid off in 40 years, we will have sunk $2.4 billion into the boondoggle. And did we mention the team pays no taxes on the land?
Worst. Deal. Ever.

I remember when the Expos moved, it reminds me the day Modell extracted the Browns from Cleveland. I moved to Cleveland shortly after the Browns were stolen and the city was dead, it sucked the life right out of people it was so bizarre. Visiting the empty Stadium was "ERIE"
Where's home land security during hostel take overs. I'm guessing owners table meetings would be a laugh.

Other then pulling up stats I finally watched my first full game the other day and didn't recognize the Dodgers. Nice to see a lot of home grown on the field and still winning. Not sure how they're doing it with that line up, maybe without Puigy and Crawfish the dugout is playing better music.

One of the questions I read on fangraphs was talking about how their new look outfield has bats, but not the defense. Maybe that has something to do with it. I know when the season started some scouts thought it could be a problem.UtahRatt wrote: My point and question to all this is, before the season the Padres loaded up, what happened in San Diego?
