Curt Schilling either has CTE or he just hates the Democratic Party
Curt Schilling recently made the following comments on like 610 AM in Kansas City, which hosted ESPN analyst and should-be Hall of Famer Curt Schilling yesterday. As usual, Schilling set us all straight on how the presidential race should turn out:
The host asked if Schilling thinks Hillary Clinton will go to prison. “I hope she does,” said Schilling. “If I’m gonna believe, and I don’t have any reason not to believe, that she gave classified information on hundreds if not thousands of emails on a public server after what happened to General Petraeus, she should buried under a jail somewhere.”

He actually accepted the qualifying offer of $15.8 MM in November. Not sure if there if there is some clause that I may have missed and he only gets $1.5 MM?killeverything wrote:Brett Anderson out 3-5 months with back surgery ( accepted LAD's 1.5m arbitration ).
If so, the Dodgers will be fine; otherwise, that still sucks for them, because despite their rotation depth, they're paying $15.8 MM to a guy that's missing 3-5 months...

15.8m. I misread the amount.

Yeah, I was referring to the online package. I'm never at home so I shut off cable a while ago. I know that the online package is like $20 less this year and their upgrades are pretty sweet. I'm probably moving in a month so I'll purchase it in a bit.Machado wrote:I think you are referring to MLB.TV. Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
This kid does not get it and he won't be worth the hundreds of millions of dollars that someone is more than likely to pay him to play. I guess the young guys these days have flair, while the previous regime of young guys lacked the flair? Ok Bryce, you go girl
Reigning National League MVP Bryce Harper took aim at baseball’s "unwritten rules," age-old decrees that the Washington Nationals outfielder has often been accused of violating.
"Baseball's tired," Harper told ESPN The Magazine. "It's a tired sport, because you can't express yourself. You can't do what people in other sports do. I'm not saying baseball is, you know, boring or anything like that, but it's the excitement of the young guys who are coming into the game now who have flair.”
Harper, 23, has never shied away from criticizing the unwritten rules, including last season when teammate Jonathan Papelbon drilled Baltimore’s Manny Machado after Machado apparently took a little too long to get around the bases on a home run he hit in a previous at bat.
Harper advocates violating the code because, well, baseball needs it.
"If a guy pumps his fist at me on the mound, I'm going to go, 'Yeah, you got me. Good for you. Hopefully I get you next time,’” Harper told the magazine. “That's what makes the game fun. You want kids to play the game, right? What are kids playing these days? Football, basketball. Look at those players – Steph Curry, LeBron James. It's exciting to see those players in those sports. Cam Newton – I love the way Cam goes about it. He smiles, he laughs. It's that flair. The dramatic."
Papelbon certainly didn’t take too kindly to Harper’s comments about Machado or the fact he didn’t run out a fly-out a few days later in late-season game. Papelbon confronted Harper, igniting a dugout scuffle that saw Papelbon grab Harper's throat.
Papelbon was suspended four games and issued an apology to Harper and the rest of the team at the start of spring training.
Harper told ESPN The Magazine that he shouldn’t have told reporters that Papelbon hitting Machado with a pitch was a mistake in his eyes, but he added the culture of the game should change and emotion should be embraced.
"Jose Fernandez is a great example,” said Harper of the Miami Marlins pitcher who got in an epic stare-off with Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth last season. “Jose Fernandez will strike you out and stare you down into the dugout and pump his fist. And if you hit a homer and pimp it? He doesn't care. Because you got him. That's part of the game. It's not the old feeling – hoorah ... if you pimp a homer, I'm going to hit you right in the teeth. No. If a guy pimps a homer for a game-winning shot ... I mean – sorry."

Nationals star Harper called baseball a "tired" sport in an interview with ESPN, and San Francisco's Romo finds Harper way off base. "Don't put your foot in your mouth when you're the face of the game and you just won the MVP," Romo told the Bay Area News Group. "I'm sorry, but just shut up."

Adam LaRoche retires and leaves a reported $13M on the table. LaRoche admitted today that his reason for retiring
was because the WS told him he could no longer have his 14 yr son in the clubhouse every single day.
Are you kidding me LaRoche?
The WS request was very reasonable. This is not about "family first", as Bryce Harper referred to earlier today.
Every single day is too much. Kenny Williams made it very clear that no kid should be in the clubhouse, let alone every single day.
Sorry Adam, you are reaching for sympathy and are lucky that teams allowed this to date. Enough was enough.

I don't know how I feel about this. Yeah, that's your kid and that's sweet, but if I was a teammate and one had their kid every day....in the clubhouse I wouldn't like it either.Machado wrote:Adam LaRoche retires and leaves a reported $13M on the table. Seriously, why should I have to be punished for your choices. I imagine a mlb clubhouse is the same anywhere. Lots of cussing, smack talking, etc. I wouldn't want to be forced to be on better behavior because there's a young'in around.
The media's gonna run this "#1 Dad" shit into the ground though.

Yeah. The kid has his own locker in the White Sox clubhouse. If I was on the team, I would be really annoyed by the kid being there every day.

Also, I heard that the White Sox clubhouse manager had huge issues with it last year.

Of course the media is going to run with the story and make Adam "the father of the year winner for 2016". Hey, its great that he took his kid to the game. But is this really the legit reason why he hung up the spikes andkilleverything wrote:I don't know how I feel about this. I know you played....Ever throw your arm out or how many times did you loft one over 1st base from SS?

Playing deep 2nd I threw my arm out and the ball sailed way off course blasting a t-ball kid in the mouth. For years I was constantly teased for it.
It was like slow motion, I felt major pain, the ball sailed wide right and the kid screamed just as it tagged the poor child square in the mouth. Game was delayed, I'm hurting and feeling like shit as everyone is looking at me while a kid is crying and bleeding all over the place. Bone spurs suck.

Sometimes you just throw wide. It was pretty rare ( I'm not Captain Clutch ), but it has happened. The worst was when we were playing Aldine ( I think ) there's a guy on 2nd and 3rd and I field a grounder backhand. I'm thinking I'm Ozzie fucking Smith until I launch it over the 1B's head.
That was rad. We lost 2-0. Guess how those runs scored.

Playing 2nd I collide with the RF, a blooper turned into a 1R scored laughing Triple. I fucking miss playing, it's hard moving on. I don't know how people do it. I like to hear others stories.
Inflammation in the shoulder makes my rotaitor cuff rub....The rub created a slight tear and spurs, tooth pick bone shavings. If I windup and unleash it's like a knife poking in my shoulder. So I moved behind the plate I was born to play. My glove sucked anyway. Did ok at 3rd, sucked everywhere else. I can toss a football but a baseball I can no longer throw unless it's cocked from the shoulder, not uncorking a windup. Boohoo......Anyway....

Anybody here mildly excited about the Rays vs Cuba baseball game tomorrow? I heard the game is playing played in front of 50,000 fans in Cuba.
The Rays have a non roster invitee player from Cuba on the travel roster. Must be a thrill for him to be returning "home" to play baseball.
Too bad the best players on the Cuba team this season defected about a month ago. Just means the talent pool for the Cuba team cannot be anywhere near
what Cuban people are accustomed to. Maybe the Rays will actually win the game, LOL!!!

Re: Killeverything's (New)NeverEndingBaseballThread
Johnny Bench is not taking a swipe at Bryce Harper. Coming from the greatest Catcher of all time, I think we should all listen to Johnny:
“You can flip your bat, cause we had guys do that … and the next time up there was chin music, and if you want to play that, that’s fine.
Bring back the excitement? Okay, well bring back the brushback pitch, the knockdown pitch. …
“I know a lot of the old-timers and a lot of people that watched baseball forever would love to see somebody have a little chin music.
If you want to do that, fine. Go ahead and flip the bat, run around the bases any way you want, but just expect the next time you come up to the plate, you better be watching how much you dig into that batter’s box.”
Bench has a point. If you want to behave a certain way, well the pitcher is also going to behave a certain way. Flip the bat Harper. Get drilled in the back, the leg, the arm, the wrist, etc...
And when you do, walk to 1st base and don't say a damn word.

Dad of the year........I'm sure he'll learn how to be a spoiled brat from a clubhouse full of pampered over paid manBabies. What the fuck is he going to learn? How to change his clothes, take a shower and talk shit? I'm sure he'll pick up a lot of great values.Anne_Thrax wrote:In case you didn't know Adam LaRoche was a complete idiot, here is a quote from him in 2013:

At that age I was already working my first real job, "pearl diving" dish washing in a cafe at a bowling ally just months before my 13th Birthday....Started at 12. Sports and work was the summer of 13. Part time @ $3.50 an hour plus waitress tips for keeping them in coffee cups if I remember right, should still have the pay stubs. Raced three times a week, worked 20+, sports n work is all I recall. I felt embarrassed but girls acted like I was an adult. I can remember that stuff but can't remember what I ate for lunch yesterday.
Definitely wasn't standing around in a clubhouse. Spoiled bitch.

And he taught his son the most important lesson of all. Did anybody here watch the baseball game in Havana yesterday? What an amazing event. Very special to witness this historic game between 2 countries
that have not had any dialogue for about 50 years.
Raul Castro and Obama sitting next to one another. Watching the Cuban citizens giving a standing US President a standing ovation. I don't know who could
have anticipated this about 8 years ago? I watched the game via ESPN, who had Eduardo Perez in the booth with 2 other broadcasters. Hearing his POV of
the event, the day, the fans in the crowd, their behavior was an interesting perspective. Over and over Perez mentioned that nobody in his family
could imagine this day. We should all hope this is just the beginning of a renewed relationship between the US and Cuba.
