I just got off work. The update on my lock screen was Moore pitched great and the bullpen blew a 5-2 lead in the ninth

Every single reliever gave up a run. You can't make this shit up. I still wouldn't have traded Panik for Melancon or Miller ( which was supposedly where the asking price started ). Oh well. I don't see anyone stopping the Cubs now.

Of course I'm wrong on Toronto every year.

I still want Baker and Harper to fail more than anyone else though.

for as much credit as Bochy gets as a manger, he sure did wet the bed tonight. mix and match. mix and match. mix and match.
WTF! tell a hurler to take the mound and own the fucking thing for a change. Bochy went by the book because
everybody else does it and look what happened

I haven't seen anything yet, just looked at the box score. Why the fuck did you use so many relievers on the ninth? That's one inning. They just didn't have it this year.

I wouldn't blame any of that on Bochy though, or Evans and Sabean. I've already heard some fans calling for his head.

The fuck? It's like those same ones I witnessed booing Keith Foulke in Boston. I kinda feel sorry for JohnK with what he has to deal with now. Oh well. Happens to every team I suppose.

As much as I want to support Epstein and Hoyer, I kind of want them to lose. The attitudes with a bunch of guys ( save for two ) that haven't won anything before is shocking.

Let's go Dodgers.

:? Fuck.

Kill,
Giants used 5 relievers in the 9th because Bochy decided it was a great idea
to take out the starter because he threw 120 pitches after 8.
Needless to say, Moore had only given up 2 hits and had what, 10 K's through 8.
Yet, Bochy went to the binder and decided that his worthless pen was good enough to get 3 outs.
Leave Moore in there, have him spin a few more breaking pitches and get 3 outs, or two or 1.

That's what I was thinking. I was going to watch the game, but now I don't think I'm gonna.

Oh well.

I was reading a few weeks ago that SF is the reason that relievers are going to start getting really big money now. That does fly in the face of the WAR or VoRP stat, but the game is changing.

Relievers don't count for that many "wins" over the season, but blowing an 8 game division lead?

Chapman, etc. is going to get paid. I wonder what James, Dewan, and Law, etc. are going to think/say about it.

That wasn't a brutal loss or anything. Thanks Bobby Evans for not addressing the closer situation at the deadline.Too bad because the Cubs were doing their best to blow this series. On the bright side, the Giants bullpen should be dramatically different next year.

regarding the game last night, Matt Moore should have pitched the 9th. He is cruising with a two hitter and Bochy removes him? Why? You could tell by the body language
in the dugout and postgame, Matt Moore did not ask out of the game. He won't burn Bochy by saying anything controversial, but you have to pin the loss on Bochy.
He messed up by going to one of the weakest pens in the game. Just the night before the pen blew the save, LOL!!!

Price was pushed about his playoff history late last week. The reporter asked him about his 0-8 record and he responded that he actually has 2 wins but not as a starter.
That wasn't too smart as a look back at those two wins revealed:
Win #1. Back in 2008 against Boston. Pitched 2/3 of an inning and got the win.
Win # 2. Gift wrapped. Last year with Toronto, Gibbons, apparently wanting to get the mental monkey off of Price's back, pulls Dickey with two outs in the 4th with a 7-1 lead
so that Price could get the win. He proceeded to give up 3 runs in 3 innings but got the elusive W.

I can't say I'm against Bochy's decision. Moore was at over 100 pitches ( 120, I believe ) and there were still two more potential 7 game series to play.

This is on the bullpen not doing their job. Romo,
and Casilla are done, but I believe Law and Strickland are going to be very good. They're both way young. The FO's fuck up IMO was assuming they'll be ready in time. The same can be said for Matt Cain ( I believed it too  ), also the "why didn't they trade for a closer?" is asinine.

Trade who? Against 28 other teams with a deeper farm? Cracka, please.

Price was a beast in 2008. I remember watching him come out of the bullpen and thinking they've got this guy starting next year, Longoria, Maddon? They're going to be good for a long time.

Price argueably had the best stuff for the free agent pitchers. The problem as I see it ( backed up by Pedro ) is he doesn't keep hitters off balance. Throw inside, make them scared to lean over the plate to chase outside pitches. He used Madbum as an example with those two in the postseason.

*ETA

Cleveland to start Kluber @ Estrada in game 1 of the ALCS.

Now that I think about it, it's still too early to crown the Cubs champions. Both Toronto and Cleveland have very good breaking ball pitchers. That seems to be Chicago's kryptonite. Both upcoming series should be pretty good.

I'd waterboard Bochy for taking out Moore AND THEN trying to use 5 pitchers to close it out.

Not sure of Moore's pitch count but he was SHARP in the 8th, three up and three down, struck out two "swinging and looking" with a fly out. At least bring him out for that first batter, hit, walk or to see what he had in the tank. From the way Moore pitched the 8th the pitch count goes out the window at least one "Moore" batter with a better chance of keeping momentum.

Then his Mix and matched shit looked like the keystone cops. He was managing on panic, desperation and lost his shit. One of those first 3 pitchers could have worked an OUT if not the inning. Hard to do when you only throw one or two pitches or get yanked when a batter got wood on a good pitch. You're gone! NEXT!

Since the Dodgers can't win on the Road I don't expect LAD to win in Washington and I don't want to see them face the arrogance of the NYCubs, with LAD in disarray they're way over powered and be lucky to win one. Roberts inexperience is showing but he's been so good for the team the players are pulling it out for him. Roberts should have a long run at being a head coach. Just wished he had the last two post seasons of experience behind him.

What Roberts did to Kershaw was just rude and wrong. Of course Clayton isn't going to come off the mound without being gang tackled. Once he put someone on base, go to the pen! Don't let him load the fucking bases on a 110+
Total rookie move that should have cost them the game. But again, he's good with players and they saved it for him.

I'm still in shock at how Roberts and Bochy managed those last/late innings.

It's real easy to second guess Bochy. He is argueably the best manager in baseball currently with what he accomplished with San Fran.

The bullpen just didn't do their job. I think if they would have won last night they possibly would have won game 5 too. The Cubs did not want to see Cueto again....well maybe one of their pitchers did

With the pen in it's state I don't believe SF would have won it all.

LAD is an anomally to me. Kerahaw pitches for them and he's the guy you want to face? Roberts is better than Mattingly, but his inexperience ( like Mattingly ) is his achilles heel. What LAD has going for them is they are facing the dumbest motherfucker in the game in Dusty Baker.

Regardless of my love for Theo, Hoyer, and Lester. The arrogance of the Cubs ( especially 3rd runner up Cy winner Arrieta and Baez ) is pissing me off.

As seen with facing Moore, their unfamiliarity with breaking ball pitchers is the only thing that could be their downfall. Think Boston/Colorado 2007 or Verlander 2012, you try to fastball an NL team? That's your plan?

I want the Cubs to win for their actual fans ( I have a couple of buddies from Chicago ), but want them to lose for reasons stated above. Think about this though.

Both AL teams are breaking ball pitcher heavy. Imagine a Kluber or Estrada @ Arrieta and the best offense in baseball World Series. That could be a good fucking series. Seriously good.

Go baseball.

No question Bochy is one of the best but he blew it last night IMO. Players can have bad games I think the same goes for Managers and I totally believe Bochy blew it. I picked up a lot watching them this last month and even his Pen line up had me scratching my head, I guess that's why I don't get paid the big bucks.
I bet if he had to do it over again he most certainly would have. I think he was confident with the lead, all the momentum and was looking ahead then started to panic and made some bad calls to the pen in desperation.

I believe SF with Cueto would have pulled it off. Even going in I said they had a shot. I was the one who didn't give up on SF since the break, the last month, the last week and down to the last game....Even after the Dodgers beat them up in LA then clinched I said the Giants will take LA at home in the last games of the season and I wasn't giving up on SF till the last game......Then I brought up if they make the WC it's game on, they're a better team, they'd get hot and they showed it.

It sucks how it ended. If the CUBS would have beat them in a 5 I'd be fine but the way they blew it sucks and I'm not even a fan. Sure the Giant's isn't my favorite team but they had the shot and choked. LA isn't going to beat the CUBS and Washington isn't going to give them a series either.

LA will have a manager problems if they win this series.
I'm still baffled how Roberts handled Kershaw and fucked up Jansen....Jesus, Roberts rotated a large bullpen and set a record number of starters like a champ all season then he goes into postseason and pulls a Don thinking he only has 2 pitchers.
Walks into this series and burns out a coming of the IR Kershaw and starts bringing Jansen in the 8th inning and using him back to back? The Pen was one of the MLB's best and won them the division then he changed shit up in the post season. It's the curse of the Don. He got Jansen and Clayton shelled and both are on the border of injury.

I'm about to go ape and almost don't want LA to beat the Nat's.

Giants' Casilla laments not being called to mound
http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/1777 ... blows-lead

Sure he choked around the break but so did everyone in the pen, my question. He's been a rock in the post season for how many years and never warmed up let alone took the mound?
Casilla, 36, was part of the Giants teams that won World Series titles in 2010, 2012 and 2014, he has a 0.92 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 25 postseason appearances, all with the Giants, with one win in 2012 and four saves in 2014.

He has never blown a postseason save.

On the flip side, hat's off to the 2016 World Champion CUBS for hanging in there, taking advantage after dismantling the SF pen one pitch at a time and making one hell of a 9th inning comeback. Then buying the woman beater to close it out.

NLCS with an attitude! YA! *FIST PUMP*

I read the Casilla quotes earlier. Coulda, woulda, shoulda. You can second guess Bochy pulling Moore early. I don't think you can his use, or non use of Casilla. Casilla hasn't been the same pitcher all season.

The last few games he closed, he got shelled. Krukow was saying "he's lost his confidence out there."

So expecting Casilla that hasn't done anything to show he could close out the game to close out the game, would be stupider than pulling Moore early IMO.

The only thing Casilla has in his corner is that he's done it before. So has Romo. He went into the ninth and gave up a run.

If Casilla blew the save. "Awww! We knew it! Fire Bochy!" If Moore was left in and got hit in the ninth? "Awwww! Why didn't he take Moore out? Fire Bochy!" The reactionary shit I'm reading is hysterical.

SF had some flaws with more than one bullpen piece. It's better to show up now than in the World Series. They can be fixed. Strickland and Law look to potentially be very good later.

As I said earlier, a Toronto/Cleveland vs. Cubs WS could be very, very good.

Which is why you keep him in. Let him start the inning. He might give up a hit or he might get some quick outs(again).
I'm ok with not bringing in Casilla. That was a good move. The better move was to leave in the "hot" pitcher and the best pitcher
that team had on that particular night.

You have a point....With that said, watching the game I blame Bochy for losing the chess match. Sure one of the Pitchers should have got an out but it's hard too do when you don't leave them in for more then a couple pitches.
Suck's it would have been a great game 5.

--------
Now.....I'm shaking my head at Roberts, here we go again with the curse of the DON...
Robers just brought out our closer Jansen, in the fucking 7th now! Jansen their CLOSER has pitched in Game 1, 3, 4 and 5 now, coming out in the 8th and now the 7th.
He pitched game one, had a day off then pitched on back to back to backs 3 days in a row for innings +. Roberts line up is a copy of Dons....Clayton and Jensen are the only two pitchers on the team, run them into the ground.

Now I Jansen has given up a hit and walked 2 and got out of the 8th, now who's going to close the game? Luck time. Just trying to lose......Shit, Jansen is still pitching, he's at 2.1ip now and given up another hit. Our closer...2.1IP and has pitched the last 3 days, 4 out of the last 5. And Roberts is leaving him in........Good Games.

Now guess who's headed down to the bull pen.....Clayton Kershaw

I think they said the 7 inning went 1hour 6 minutes long and 8 pitchers were used.....

Kershaw did it. Dodgers beat Dusty Baker and hairflip boy 4-3 to face the Cubs in the NLCS.

I think Kershaw's playoff demons were exorcised.

CLAYTON KERSHAW COMES OUT FOR THE 9TH AND GETS THE SAVE!
Kershaw comes in with 2 on and 1 out in the 9th and gets the SAVE........Are you fucking serious. He just threw 110 pitches and Roberts uses the Closer Jansen to Pitch the 7th, 8th and 1 out in the 9th and he brings out Clayton.

How do you face anyone after that let alone the CUBS? Clayton and Jansen should be done for the year, Jansen has never thrown that many pitches in a game not to mention it's his 4th game in 5 days.

WTF ROBERTS? NOW WHAT?

They're gonna try to "Bumgarner" Kershaw. He and possibly Jansen probably won't be ready until game 3. This whole season is a varitable Smithsonian of what the fuck.

you two fucking clowns have a lot of balls questioning how Dave Roberts used his reliever
and Kershaw tonight. you morons should be sent home on a bus for mouthing off.
would you prefer Roberts save both hurlers for "the next game"? you worry about the next
game some other time. you win now and figure out tomorrow night down the line.

fuck, i hate stupid ass people who 2nd guess a manager in this type of fashion
because the point you 2 are trying to make is ridiculous.

onto something much more entertaining, hey Dusty, how does losing yet another playoff game feel? WOW!
earlier today i read about Dusty making plans for Chicago and the reason why he returned to managing
was to play in a series like the one he planned to play vs Chicago

What the fuck are you talking about, Forrest?

Where did I second guess Roberts? It was just unexpected. Pedro did it for 3 innings against Cleveland in '99.

I get why there is a thread in the lounge asking if you are literally retarded. It's a legitimate question.

USA TODAY: 4:27 p.m. EDT before the first pitch.......

Nationals' Dusty Baker: DC sports fans expect their teams to lose
WASHINGTON – As the Washington Nationals face their first decisive Game 5 since an infamous ninth-inning meltdown in 2012, first-year manager Dusty Baker has a simple message for fans: Remain calm.

The Nationals have lost both National League Division Series – in 2012 and 2014 - since the franchise relocated from Montreal before the 2005 season. On a far deeper level, Washington baseball franchises have not won a postseason series since the Washington Senators won the 1924 World Series.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ml ... /92010254/

He goes into a long rant about the people of Washington don't have a positive attitude and how he talked to a lot of people who believed they was going to lose before the game even started.

I hate Dusty from his days managing the CUBS and lesser with the Giants but it's funny because as a player I didn't care for him either and as a kid I liked everyone who played for LAD. I can't figure it out, he's just one of those guys I've never liked.

Oh shut the fuck up, if the Dodgers lost you'd be all over Robers like you was on Bochy acting like a know it all.

The main reason LAD made the playoffs is they had one of the best pen's then when they get in the postseason Roberts changed everything up and just about lost it.
Roberts was making a lot of Rookie moves and just because he won you think he knew exactly what he was doing and act like you work for ESPN. Fuck off, Roberts was pulling a slot machine. He was loaded with RP yet still managed to burn out his best two pitchers and use a couple of his worst. Now after the burn out they're going into the CUBS series at even more of a disadvantage. Roberts left everyone on the planet from post game hosts and announcers to fans scratching their head.

At least Bochy went by the book, his game plan. Roberts was scratching lotto tickets and lucked out. It was crazy as fuck but the way he used his pen was twice as insane as Bochy except Roberts players pulled off the win.

If Roberts lost you'd be bitching and laughing just like you did at the Giants. You fence walker. Put a cork in it.

Dusty Baker has now lost 9 straight games with a chance to clinch a playoff round. That's the longest streak in MLB History.

But who are we or anybody to second guess a manager?

Why even have an opinion or discussion. Being a Yankee and a Cowboy fan is the double whammy of stupid fans who know the least about the game while having the loudest opinion.

What's the odds Machado throws like a girl?

Jon Lester, they slimed me! I hope that's his post game quote. I dig this pic, time to cross the steams. I hope they don't make Bill sing take me out to the ball game......
