I would like to see Nate Diaz take on Gray Maynard, that would be an awesome fight.

That Hettes kid impressed the hell out of me, he was on point yesterday, same with Gustaffson.
Nate clowned the fuck out Donald, I wanna see him fight the winner of Lauzon/Pettis, either for a title shot or to be next in line for a title eliminator
I really should've bet on the main event, I definitely predicted that Brock would retire after taking another beating, and I'm not just saying that in hindsight. People were really counting Reem's grappling out, brock was terrified of the threat of a knee or guillotine and didn't shoot after the first attempt was stuffed.

Santos' December 16, 2011 drug test came back positive for stanozolol metabolites. CSAC learned of the test results December 23, 2011 and suspended Santos's license, with the suspension applied retroactively to December 16, 2011. In accordance with Rule 368, the result of her last fight between Hiroko Yamanaka will be changed to a "No Decision".

The Belfort/Johnson fight is the only one that really has my interest.
I will still watch all the fights though. The Brazil audience goes crazy!
In the coming weeks there are a ton of great fights.
Who wins the Sonnen/Munoz fight? I'm going with Sonnen.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
The Rumble/Belfort fight will be good, no doubt. Belfort is the better striker and his defensive wrestling is great as well, plus he's a Gracie BB.
I think Sonnen will win as well, but I feel like a lot of people are counting Munoz out, though. If he gets on top of Chael, it could be over in a second, he has some of the nastiest GnP in the business. I wouldn't be surprised if he KOed spider on the ground, too. If he could bullrush Silva like Chael did and get the TD, he'll need a lot less than the 300000 punches Chael hit Silva with to KO him.

Rumble apparently came in waaaaaay overweight, Vitor said if he weighed in above 205 tomorrow he won't fight him

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I read about that. Dana is really pissed. The guy might get cut even if he fights tomorrow. I was out and about so missed the live weigh in.slash4pres wrote:Rumble apparently came in waaaaaay overweight, Vitor said if he weighed in above 205 tomorrow he won't fight him
The following is about what time the ppv starts in Brazil. Damn these guys are dedicated!
"Let's take a minute to thank the Brazilians for being such good sports about the late start time for this event. In order for the UFC to stick to its preferred 10 p.m. ET pay-per-view start time and still go live, the local crowd will be showing up for a main card that doesn't begin until 1 a.m. local time. As our own Ariel Helwani pointed out this week, that means they could be waiting until 3:30 a.m. for the main event to get started. Unless you party like Lindsay Lohan, that's normally about the time when a fun late night turns into an arduous one. If there's any crowd that can roll with that, it's the passionate 'cariocas' who jammed the HSBC Arena to the rafters just five months ago. At UFC 134, they kept the joint jumping from the first fight to the last. Then again, that one started a couple hours earlier. Let's hope they can maintain the same level of enthusiasm for this event, though perhaps without the beer-throwing this time."

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
He came in a 204 today, so the fight in on, but the way Dana was talking in his statement, it looks like the only way for rumble to keep his job is to win by a stunning ko. If he loses or wrestlefucks him to a decision, he will likely be cut.

But I would like to watch the Broncos/Pats game.
And being a die hard Laker fan I would definitely want to watch the Laker/Clipper game. I will probably tape this & watch it aferwards. Although I hate watching sporting events after they have already taken place. UFC is the only sport I will go back and watch again.
All 3 are around the same time.
The cool thing is FX is showing at least 4 or 5 fights versus Spike showing only 2.

Spinning Heel Kick KO!!! by Barbossa against Etim! Fucking Nuts, I was just telling some guys at a Karate McDojo / MMA place that they shouldn't bother spending so much time training tspiining heel kicks as it's such a low % move and it's never been pulled off before, then this happens...what I do know, I should just stick to my BJJ.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Interesting night of fights.
Damn, that knee was straight out of the "Silva front kick to Vitor's face" impact. I dont think Mendes ever knew what hit him. It happened so fast & clean.
Belfort was the perfect example of experience vs. power. He schooled Johnson, and Dana should cut that guy because of the weight issue.
Damn, these guys were fighting at 1am until 3 am. No wonder UFC kept the action moving along with no bullshit.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Like I said before, watching Aldo fight is a treat, dude is like Bruce Lee, lightening fast. Who cares if he's a featherweight, he's a featherweight that can kick your ass. Great power for a guy his size too.
Vítor was great, I believe he has the hand speed and the power to knockout anyone up to heavyweight.
Palhares, what can I say, even if you don't care for ground fighting, I can't imagine how you wouldn't enjoy watching this guy, sick moves.
You see it often in K1 and stuff but in mma is quite rare. Fear of takedown perhaps? Same with axe kicks, I only saw it a few times and always striker vs striker (crocop vs hunt, Barry etc).

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Yeah, I noticed the time slots too when Dana posted his second Video log on the Johnson not making weight. I wondered why the fights were being moved along so quickly, I've never seen any card like that before, I actually had to double take twice to check I wasn't watching an edited version or highlights as it was already stupid O'clock in the UK. Johnson needs to be fighting at LHW or get cut from the UFC. He was considerably bigger than Vitor, and Vitor said that he has himself cut 25lbs in 4 days, so he probably came in at his full weight since he has more than 36hrs to rehydrate, so he would have been 210lbs. Johnson had to weight 205 by midday, but had another 12-15 hours to rehydrate after that, so could have been any weight.yeahbuddy wrote:Interesting night of fights.

The main card wasn't very competitive, I agree with one of the previous posters, that it looked like the Brazilian fighters were given easy fights. I got a sense that the Brazillian audience were getting a bit annoyed that the fights were ending so quickly too.

I guess it makes it a little more interesting than fighters chopping each other down with leg kicks. My only fear is that this sort of thing is going to validate your average Karate and Taek Won Do Dojo in the minds of naive people as a way to learn how to defend yourself.mullet_head wrote:Like I said before, watching Aldo fight is a treat, dude is like Bruce Lee, lightening fast. Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Rogan has always been opinionated, gets annoying sometimes, and he's been getting worse and worse. I find what he did to Mario completely shitty, especially considering the man is Brazilian. They take referees mistakes very seriously over around those parts. Violently serious.yeahbuddy wrote:What bothered me was Rogan questioning the ref right there on the spot. I mean, everyone makes mistakes, and there was one shot to the back of the head, not enough to warrant a disqualification or a nc in my opinion but come on...why call the man out like that?

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
How about how the refs were quick to stand fighters up when they were on the ground? Come on! These guys rely on their wrestling, but werent able to get into any kind of a groove when stood up so fast.
