Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
The TUF finale was really fucking good, Justin Lawrence's striking looked outstanding, taht headkick KO was beautiful. I think him and Mike Chiesa have the potential to go far. Charles Olivera looked great, too, if he worked even more on his striking I think he could threaten Aldo for the belt ( I don't see Zombie or Hioki taking it from him).
I was surprised that Kampmann won, i wanted him to win but wasn't expecting it. He should call out Condit for being a coward, seeing that he already has a win over him. The whole point of an interim belt is so that it can be defended while the champ is out. Either that or have Hitman face Hendricks for the interim interim belt lol.

I agree with you on Condit. He didnt exactly beat the crap out of Diaz to be able to fight GSP.slash4pres wrote:The TUF finale was really fucking good, Justin Lawrence's striking looked outstanding, taht headkick KO was beautiful. Josh Koschek made a comment on some mma show about Condit similiar to yours.
I didnt even see that short little right that Kampmann hit Jake with until they showed the replay. You know the one that got Jake to look koo koo. I thought he had just slipped & lost his balance.
Besides the Kampman fight & the TUF final the other fights seemed to me that were put together to do exactly what the winners did to the losers.

BJ's comin back to fight Rory Mac. Not sure who to pick, BJ is always dangerous for the first 7:30 minutes.
Also, Thiago Silva, Brian Stann and Bisping are injured, now shogun is fighting Brandon Vera and Boetch is fighting hector lombard.
Too many damn injuries.

Brandon Vera as the headliner?slash4pres wrote:BJ's comin back to fight Rory Mac. Not sure who to pick, BJ is always dangerous for the first 7:30 minutes.

How lame is that? He's been toast for a couple of
years now.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
and the injury bug strikes again, Aldo is injured and out of 149, Barao vs. Faber moved to Main Event of 149. GOD DAMN IT!!!!
also, the fights last friday were very good. I was surprised that Jorgenson and Neer got KOed, and Erick Silva showed he can hang with a good wrestler. I didn't watch it, but I heard the Pierce/Rocha fight brought a new definition of snoozer, I'd love to see him vs. Erick Silva, because lets face it, if you can't overcome a boring lay n' prayer, you need to move to a different division than Welterweight.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Tonight looks to be a good night of fights.
Everybody is picking Maynard to win.
Anybody buying 147?

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Guida basically fought the same fight against Maynard what Condit did against Diaz.
The only difference being that Carlos got away with it & Clay didnt.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
That was really disappointing, always loved Guida but I hated him by the end of that fight and was glad they gave the decision to Maynard. On the fence about tonight, not a lot of names on the card but in the past sometimes those have turned out better than cards stacked with names.....
I don't "tweet" but I heard Dana wasn't happy with Guida's performance....

I wonder if Guida ever thinks of (if he can) moving down a weight class. looks so much smaller than his opponent. He looked it against Henderson & he
definitely looked it against Maynard.
Honestly could care less about tonight's fights. Franklin has been done for a number
of years now, and now he is in the main event? I dont think so. I wonder what kind of numbers the ppv is going to do.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Guida was so hopped up on adrenaline that he became incredibly annoying to watch. I went into it completely indifferent as to who would win, but after awhile I just hoped Maynard would catch him w/ a hard left and knock him the fuck out.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Somebody please explain to me what the difference(other than winning) what Guida did
last night & what Carlos Condit did against Nick Diaz.
Both fighters were coached by Jackson. It was the same game plan.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Condit actually threw punches and kicks, Guida pretty much just danced for 25 minutes. I do like that Mirg warned him to stop with the inactivity. The only entertaining part of the fight was when Gray finally got a hold of him in round 4 and started blasting him with knees and then went full Stockton by dropping his hands.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
So, how did Gray's face get beat up? It wasnt like he left the ring the way he came in.slash4pres wrote:Condit actually threw punches and kicks, Guida pretty much just danced for 25 minutes. It was the same game plan as Condit. I think Guida's camp was banking on Gray fading
in the later rounds & he never did. I'm not saying Clay won..... I'm just saying.
One of the websites posted the tweets that were going on during the fight, & a number
of fighters/mma people were commenting on it. Someone said "is that what they are
teaching in Jackson's camps now"?

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
147 was a bore.
The best fight of the night was the main event.
All those other fights were a snooze fest.
Gotta give credit to Rich Franklin. He looked in shape
& fought a smart fight. Damn, that end of 2nd round
was close to being called, huh? Rich stayed busy enough
to survive. Will he ever win another championship? Probably
not, but he is a warrior. Same goes for the Axe Murderer.
Cannot CANNOT wait for 148. Wow!!!

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I really like Franklin, dude may be past his prime but he always does his best, always shoes up in shape. Gotta appreciate that.
Wanderlei kind of frustrates me now, for the same reasons that made me a fan. Doesn't try to outpoint you or go for a calculistic aproach, just waits for an opening to go apeshit on a guys face. Dude I know you had good times brawling with rampage and stomping Hendo for 15 minutes but even those guys won't fall for it anymore, it's time to start throwing a straight punch every now and then.

Holy Shit! This gets me really pumped for 148!

I’m going to break his face and every tooth in his mouth. I know he’s on the call listening to this and playtime is over. There’s no more talking from him. I’m going to beat him out of the UFC. I’m going to make him pay for everything he’s said about me, my family and my country. I’m going to beat him maybe like his parents should have to teach him some manners. I’ll teach him those manners myself.
No more sh** talking from him. Chael Sonnen's going to get his ass kicked like he's never gotten his ass kicked before. What I'm going to do inside the Octagon is something that's going to change the image of the sport, I’m sorry. I'm going to beat his ass like he's never been beaten before. This is going to be violent and I am sorry. I'm going to make sure that every one of his teeth are broken, that his arms are broken and his legs are broken. He's not going to be able to walk out of the Octagon by himself. I can guarantee that. He will need a plastic surgeon afterwards.

I'm already getting nervous when I think of it.
I love Silva because he is such a champ, but I want
Sonnen to win.

In an extremely odd, WTF kind of moment, I just ran into him at a liquor store here in Indy about 45 minutes ago. He lives in Illinois and is here for tonight's Phish concert. He was actually pretty cool and offered to take a couple pics.jellyheadrobertson wrote:My thoughts exactly.Indy_Rob wrote:Guida was so hopped up on adrenaline that he became incredibly annoying to watch. It would be funny if Silva actually killed Chael then bowed to his corpse.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I honestly dont know how this fight is going to go.
Sonnen completely dominated Silva in the first fight.
Silva did have a rib injury, but I dont think anybody
but Silva knows how bad it was.
The weigh in should be interesting as well.
I see my buddy the Korean Zombie has called out Jose Aldo.
Now that is going to be a fight!
