Does the NFL as an entity make any money? I'm going with no. The individual owners do and they have their own tax lawyers finding loopholes for them, which Im sure are many, but they get taxed for their profits I'm sure.

Yeah, I'm with you. I don't see how the league is lumped in there with financial losses like creating a robotic squirrel...

Great special tonight on Steve McNair. Reminded me of what a great player he was. Sad that the story ends in such a tragedy. Hard to believe it's been almost four years.

Hope he gets into the HOF this year. He certainly deserves it.

I'm guessing the NFL does make money thru the commercials played during games, granting the rights to broadcast shows to television networks and playing Green Days new album constantly. Is the NFL network and website also considered nonprofit. Also since its considered nonprofit wouldn't owning a team be considered a tax right off? What about NFL licensed products, with the hologram logo on them ect.. It stands to reason they do make money.

I will be the first to admit I dont know how it works, it just seems alittle more complex than the league doesn't make anything.

I don't think the league itself makes any money. The owners split the take. I guess it could be looked at like any other corporation with only 32 share holders, but I do know that the owners pay taxes on their individual profits, albeit with some huge loopholes I'm sure. The big money isn't in operations though. That comes when they sell the team 20 years down the line.

Levi, I'm torn on Washington/Giants. I get screwed by NY no matter which way I choose in my confidence pool. Weekly. How do the skins match up with them?

I don't bet on football, or anything else too often for that matter. I do a family "pick em" for fun though.

And I picked the Skins. The Skins managed to sweep the Giants last season with RG3 and out at the helm, and obviously they are much better now. And the Giants are due for one of their patented upset losses at home.

Still, the Skins' safeties are terrible, and the pass rush has been hit or miss.

I'm picking the Skins just cause I think they'll win. The Giant's d-line is scary but I'm thinking that will open some running lanes for Alfred Morris and of course Griffin. It's the Skins' first division game this year and they'll be fired up. And the Skins' offense is positively potent right now - in 6 games they've only had one mediocre performance (against the Bengals).

I'm not worried about the Giants D line. Shanahan will run a bunch of stunts and draws expecting the d line to overpursue, which they've been prone to do. And with a QB like Griffin having the running in his arsenal, if the giants play conservatively I think he picks them apart.

I'm taking Skins for the upset, but only putting 1 point on it.

And I meant against the Falcons (Skins' poor offensive game).

When the falcons aren't hitting the home run they look really average don't they? Turner (tossup between him and MJD for biggest butt cheeks in the league) appears to be finished and their heir apparent Jacquiz Rodgers hasn't done shit with the opportunities they've given him. They're the most beatable 6-0 team I can remember in a while.

I cannot deal with these fucking NFL Network announcers.

If I hear the word "chippy" one more time this season I'm gonna...uh...yeah I'll keep watching cause it's still football but fuck I'm sick of these idiots. Makes the ESPN team seem like Cosell / Meredith

Gore fucking took control at the end of that game it was incredible. Though credit goes to the line on a couple of those...they opened HUGE holes.

Those Quarterbacks...not impressive. I'm not sure if any of these NFC West teams are good enough to "Raven" it to a Super Bowl win.

I agree, but they might be good enough to get there. San Fran would have been REALLY scary had they landed Manning. Kind of a weird year though. It's going to come down to who gets hot and who gets healthy at the right time.

I agree. The only stating QB with any potential in the NFC West is Bradford, and he has only shown glimpses once this year.

Pierre Garcon doubtful vs Giants. How's that signing working out for the Skins so far?

Well, not too well obviously.

Of course it's only 6 games into his Skins career. There's still a tiny chance that it'll work out for him and the Skins. He did play great in his one game before becoming a cripple.

You do know that it's pretty silly to judge a FA acquisition after only 6 games, right?

Still, FA is always hit or miss, like the draft. And the Skins' so far have the most successful pick of the entire draft in RG3.

It's early - too soon to judge after only 6 games - but he looks like a future MVP and hall of famer!

Back to Garcon...I'm surprised you are so down on him. You had nothing but good things to say about him when he was a Colt.

Nice spin. Yes, it's too early to call the signing a failure. But I'm sure missing at least 1/3 of his first year wasn't what the skins were hoping for when they gave him that massive contract.

Wrong. I've been down on Garcon ever since he played horrible in the Super Bowl and was one of the main reasons we lost. His careless drop toward the end of the first half is one that Colts fans aren't likely to forget.

I've always said he was a fast guy with bad hands and not much route running ability. That's all he's been so far. I'd rather have a guy like Reggie Wayne, who's not as fast, but can run routes and has the best hands of any WR in the league.

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh took a safety off the board at the end of the game. It meant the 49ers won 13-6, instead of 15-6.

But those placing bets on the game think differently. The 49ers were favored by 7.5 points, so by declining the safety, those who took the Seahawks and the points won their bets. And those who took the 49ers were left screaming at their televisions and making a dart board out of Harbaugh’s picture.

The seemingly inconspicuous move by Harbaugh sent several rippples around the internet and blew up Twitter. Those who gamble might never look at Harbaugh the same way again.

Well obviously. you are absolutely 100 percent right that his brief Redskins career has not been what they were hoping for.

How is it "spin" to point out there's still a chance it could work out?

Do you just disagree with me to disagree with me? We don't Have to argue about everything man. Ease up dude.

And for what it's worth, I see the Colts winning this weekend. When was the last time the Browns won a road game?

Fair enough. And I do see the Colts winning this weekend, but I don't think it will be easy. The Browns looked great last weekend. Trent Richardson is a beast and even Weeden seems to be making some plays. They are going to run right up the middle on us all game until we prove we can stop them, which won't be easy given all the injuries we have on the d-line.

If we can get a win we'll be 3-3 and still very much alive in the playoff hunt.

Yep, Houston and Baltimore. It's a year of mediocre teams and no real great teams in the AFC as of yet. The NFC has definitely become the better conference. Any team at .500 or better after this weekend has a legitimate shot at the playoffs in the AFC. Kind of makes it interesting to see which teams are gonna pull away from the pack and get hot at the right time.

Christian Ponder is dating Samantha Steele from ESPN. Pretty good for a QB with not much hype on a team that no one pays attention too. If the Lions don't win the division this year, then I hope the Vikes do.
