The Manning on Manning bowl twice a year? Yowza. I've been thinking about it a bit, and you have to take Manning's motivation into account. What's his priority? Money? Another ring? Loyalty? I'd guess another ring and getting as much dough in the bank as he can in the short time he's got left would both be the primary factors. With that in mind, I think Jacksonville might make a lot of sense. That team is a lot closer than people think. Great defense. Great running back. Both of their lines are pretty solid. They'll be picking high enough to get a really great reciever if they want and they have a new owner who may want to make a splash. A guy like Manning could really make a difference there. That and he'd get to stick it to Polian twice a year. Thoughts?
And the weather is decent in Jax plus the rest of the division. A QB that has been playing in a dome and in mostly warm weather sites is not going to want to go somewhere cold now that he's older and coming off significant injury. If Manning goes there at most he sees 1 or 2 games a year in winter conditions. I think he'd have to either stay in a dome or go south, so Florida makes sense.
Don't discount somewhere like Oakland either. I know Davis is gone, but that organization might want to make a splash and they have great pieces in place other than QB. I could see him pulling a Plunkett and finishing out his days in sunny CA.
It isnt all that sunny in Oakland, and they gave up a lot to get Palmer. The good weather thing isn't something I've thought of. With that in mind, Miami might be a good option. Him and Brady finishing their careers in the same division would be cool to watch.

Oakland has basically no picks this year, so they have to do everything via free agency. If they had a shot at Manning(assuming he passes the physical) for $12-15M they'd cut Palmer in a heartbeat and use Manning plus the rest of the roster to lure in the players to fill in the gaps.

If Manning wants another ring, the answer is the 49ers.

Looks like Alex has shitcanned the Van Hagar remasters.
All you stupid fucks know nothing. Our team owner has said it. Our president has said it. I have told it to you a million times. When Peyton suits up next year, it will be as an Indianapolis Colt. There is zero doubt about that, except from outsiders who know nothing and enjoy talking out of their ass. So you can stop this stupid fucking speculation about which shit team is going to land Peyton, because it aint gonna happen.

When you say something about football, the opposite ALWAYS happens.

Don't worry...the second Peyton is cut or traded this will get posted in the appropriate thread.
There are some fucking gems in there but this will be an all-time winner.

You've been wrong on almost every single prediction you've made the past 2 years dude. Maybe you ought to take your company man hat off and join the discussion. We're just spit balling here. You should be happy that anybody gives a fuck enough about your 0-12 team to discuss them.
When you have that first round lemon known as Alex Smith, you need all the help you can get. He will be the one to fuck it all up for them.
I dont think Smith is the answer, but the way they ball, all they need is a good solid game manager type guy. Game managers won't demand Peyton Manning money. That team would be better served spending that money on other àreas.

Incidentally, what your owner and GM have said don't matter. Peyton and Luck have to agree to it too, and the chàtter from the past couple days says they probably won't. I'd be preparing for life without Peyton if I were you.

Since I haven't weighed in the actual topic of Luck/Peyton and I know almost as much about the situation as Greg, it is time. There is no way the Colts won't take Luck. I honestly see Peyton being a Jet or Dolphin next year.

The Irsays would never lie. They would never say anything just to keep the media quiet like every other team does. They don't do that!!

Rumor has it his full name is Greg Peyton Polian.
almost correct:
Mrs. Greg Peyton Polian-Manning

The rumor mongerers are in full swing speculating where Peyton will play next year. Why? Because that's what they do. They thrive on drama, even when there isn't any. The funny thing is not a single indication has come from the Colts or Peyton that he would not be on the team next year. Not even an "unnamed source" has given ANY indication of that happening. Therefore, what you have is blind speculation and rumor mongering from outside people who have no CLUE as to what the organization is thinking. Heck, the Colts have never even said anything that would indicate they're interested in Luck. Not one word. I just want to make 100% clear that anything you hear about Peyton not playing for the Colts next year is100% made up. FACT.

Sanchez reached an agreement with the team on June 10, 2009, signing a five-year, $50 million contract, with $28 million guaranteed.[46] It is the largest contract the Jets signed a player to in franchise history.[
Do teams still take a cap hit for nixing contracts? I think the Jets are up against it next year cap-wise. Have to look.

I don't really see it any different than what happened to Montana. Got wrecked with an injury, eventually traded, little fanfare.
The difference between Manning and Montana is that Montana's successor was already waiting in the wings. Steve Young had been there for a couple years already, and everyone knew he was going to take over eventually. So, when Joe went down, Steve stepped up.
In Indy, the successor isn't there yet, so Indy doesn't have the luxury of waiting another year to see if they want to cut ties with Manning.

It's a different situation.
I agree 1,000%. The situations are not the same at all.
I firmly am against using the #1 overall pick on a QB because the chances are the pick will never live up to the high expectations.
So with that, the Colts might want to throw a curveball into the equation by keeping Manning, trading away the #1 pick to a team that is willing to part with many current players and pick in the future.
