Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Damn was hoping Vitor would just go on the attack. That would have been awesome if that submission in the first ended it. Jones did not look that good in this fight. Not sure if it was just his arm getting shredded. Even in the fight with Rashad, I didn't feel he looked that good. Vitor definitely did a lot better than I thought he would. I figured the fight would be over before round 3. i guarantee that Jones will be out for a while due to that arm so no telling what the LHW division will look like next year when he comes back. I would love to see henderson get a shot.

Vitor almost had him. I agree that Jones didnt look that good.EddieVanHeineken wrote:Damn was hoping Vitor would just go on the attack. The one thing he has going for him is that all the top guys in that division
are on the downside of their careers. What young and upcoming fighter would give him a run for his money? Did you see the way he was holding his arm after the fight? Vitor said he heard cracking & shit when he was going for it.
The rest of fights-
The Mighty Mouse fight didnt get going until the 4th round. Until then, it was a track meet with an occasional flurry. The majority predicted Benevidez to win. Oops spoiled that.
Brian Stann is nothing but a middle of the road fighter. He will always knock out the lower tier guys, but when it comes to fighting top of division fighters, he's over his head.
Matt Hamil fight was a bore.
Overall, a good night of fights. The FX cards were better than just okay.
Besides the Hamil stinker the ppv was a 8 out of 10.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I thought Jones looked really good, actually. Vitor is a legitimate threat to anyone on the ground or standing, and jones completely dominated him everywhere. Yeah, vitor lasted a lot longer than expected, but there was never a moment where he was in the fight at all. He's usually on constant attack mode, and he was timid for the whole fight. Jones has a legitimate chance of getting to an Anderson Silva level of dominance. His only legitimate threats in the UFC at this time are Gustafson and Henderson, and maybe Glover Texeira if he does well in his next couple of fights. Maybe ( and A HUGE maybe) Feijao or Mousasi might pose a threat, but I still don't see either winning against Jones. The only area Jones is untested in is on his back, and I don't see anyone in the division putting him on his back unless daniel cormier decides to move down.

Was watching the post fight presser.... Apparently vitor let up on the armbar after he felt it pop. Not sure how to take that. He could have won but didnt want to break bones arm? Does bones even know he lost the fight in that moment? If it was rousey bones arm woulda been bent completely backwards

Me too, it was frustrating to watch, but I read in a Brazilian site that Vitor injured his hand in training, if that's true it explains why he was so unusually shy.EddieVanHeineken wrote:Damn was hoping Vitor would just go on the attack.
When Bones came crawling like he always does and Vitor threw that kick Bones natural instinct was to lift his hands off the ground to defend, therefore making it a legal strike if it had landed.
Someone with the accuracy of Anderson Silva (or Silva himself) could just throw a flying knee and end the fight right there. I hope someone does it, I can't wait to see Bones knocked the fuck out.

He addressed it on twitter, he said it's a translation problem, he really said that Jones forced his way out after Vitor made a positioning mistake after he heard his arm pop.EddieVanHeineken wrote:Was watching the post fight presser.... Ask Tim Silvia about arm bars and what Frank Mir thinks about 'em. Jones was DAMN lucky.slash4pres wrote:He addressed it on twitter, he said it's a translation problem, he really said that Jones forced his way out after Vitor made a positioning mistake after he heard his arm pop.EddieVanHeineken wrote:Was watching the post fight presser.... What was it that the ref said right after Vitor threw that kick? Something about you wanna play the game or something.BD888 wrote:Me too, that would be a jump around the room moment.mullet_head wrote:Me too, it was frustrating to watch, but I read in a Brazilian site that Vitor injured his hand in training, if that's true it explains why he was so unusually shy.EddieVanHeineken wrote:Damn was hoping Vitor would just go on the attack.

I think from now on every fighter that fights Jones should throw a kick when he comes crawling in like that.

Too bad the Melendez/Strikeforce fights got cancelled.
It would've been a day & night of mma!
When does my buddy the Korean Zombie get back to action?

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Not Sure. I think he should fight either Edgar if Aldo is out too long, but if they still wanna go with Edgar vs. Aldo, they should do Koch vs. Zombie.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I think he should fight Edgar. This way we see if both fighters are the real deal. For Edgar we will see if he is the real deal in a new weight class. And for the Zombie we can see what he is about against a fighter like Edgar who we all know is the real deal.slash4pres wrote:Not Sure. I think its a smart move that Guida dropped down in weight. Against Henderson & Maynard he looked too small, and would never win that division. He would always be a gatekeeper.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
The Skyscraper!!! Yeah baby!
He looked good. It looks like he is using his length & height advantage. Still not there, but coming along. I think Dana is bringing him along slowly after throwing him to the wolves earlier in his career.
Dan Hardy looked good. His ground & pound was top notch.
Those two white boys who got the submission & the one that got the knockout, jeez where did they come from?
Overall, a good night (day) of fights.

Hardy was impressive. I was a bit worried that he was gonna get armbared or triangled if he became wreckless but he worked well to avoid it. The Pickett KO was awesome. Once again a free card turns out really good.yeahbuddy wrote:The Skyscraper!!! Yeah baby!

Jani Lane and Bret Michaels should form a band called "Nelson II"
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I think Hardy has learned not to be so reckless when he fights. He looks like an entirely different fighter these days. I always love when he is introduced. Buffer really gets into it.jellyheadrobertson wrote:Hardy was impressive. I was a bit worried that he was gonna get armbared or triangled if he became wreckless but he worked well to avoid it. Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Picks for this friday
Brown KO
Ellenburger KO
Don't know too much about Jussier DU Silva, but I'll go with Dodson because he's damn good, probably by decision
Neer Sub
Also can't wait for the upcoming Spider fight, and the Fox card. I don't think I've ever been this torn between which fighter to root for more than the BJ/McDonald fight.

Bigfoot SMASH!!!
Browne definitely blew out his knee with those wild opening kicks. He'd be a lot better if he didn't focus so much on having crazy moves with a lot of movement. You ain't Dominick Cruz, nigga.

Browne came out cocky & stupid & paid the price.slash4pres wrote:Bigfoot SMASH!!!

I didnt realize Browne was so big. I always thought Silva was a monster until he faced off with Browne.
Silva clocked him good. Funny when fight was over & he tried to get up. Cuckoo cuckoo.
Who's next for Silva? A Struve vs Silva fight? That sounds like a good one to me.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I think they wanted the winners of the last two weeks to fight, possibly the losers too. Skyscraper vs. Bigfoot will be a good fight, and Miocic vs Browne will be entertaining as well. Also, The upcoming fight betwwen Dodson and Mighty Mouse will be insane. The UFC will need to invest in slow motion technology just so we can see the fight.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
That Johnson kid impressed me as well. He got his ass handed to himself in that 1st round. To comeback the way he did was impressive.slash4pres wrote:I think they wanted the winners of the last two weeks to fight, possibly the losers too. I thought it was funny how Browne came out all flashy with the kicks & moving around & Silva held his ground until the "big bang" came. Even if Browne hadn't hurt himself I think Silva was going to clean his clock.
Yeah, Dodson & MM should be a good one.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
It was actually a good event, a couple of stinkers here and there but all in all it was solid, both the prelims and the main card. These free events have actually been better than the last ppvs.
I agree with you, I think it was only a matter of time before bigfoot put him away, blown out knee or not.
Also, today's fights from the OneFC 6 are already on youtube. I only watched these three so far and they all delivered. Great submission, great ko and a nasty nut shot.

The Texiera/Maldonado fight should be excellent as well. I actually like this PPV a lot, although the Rampage/Texiera fight would've made it better
