What the fuck are you talking anout?

Demichelis, Samuel, Burdisso and Heinze are all amazing players (unlike your country).

The Yanks are losing which would be a good result for England if they can beat Algeria.

US was robbed of the 3rd goal, that was NOT offside, and I wanted Slovenia to win.

Big upsets in this WC, and referees fucking things up.

Wrong, Demichelis is a fuck up as we all saw in the last match.
He's been fucking up all season at Bayern Munchen.
Heinze is on his return and we gotta see how good he still is against a good winger as Robben or Eliah
Maradona must be on the sauce again cause leaving Cambiasso home is a retard move.

The commentary I was reading said it was a foul and not offside. I wasn't watching though, so they could have got it wrong.

It was just some shirt pulling,it didn't effect the playing. Nothing worth ruling out the goal. England looks tired again. Heskey must suck Capello's dick to get a start every time.

Yeah, supposedly a foul, which is totally bogus. Every single Slovenian was mugging an American:

According to FIFA, the foul was called on Edu, but FIFA apparently doesn't consult with the referee when compiling the game report.

Terrible call in any case, which makes an amazing comeback feel a bit like a loss. Anyway, fuck it. The key to advancing now is to win big against Algeria and we're through no matter what.

That England result is great for the U.S. We win, we're through. If we draw, we can still go through if England draws against Slovenia and fails to score two more goals than we do. If we draw and England wins, we're out. If we draw and England loses, we're through.

Once again, England has been grossly overrated by its own press.

USA vs Slovenia - Worst called game I've ever seen, I want to say the US deserved to lose after the first half of total shit but not counting that US goal was a travesty.

England looked flat while Algeria came to play. England is massively overrated but is still a better team then they've shown so far.

I don't think US should take Argelia lightly, as far as Slovenia, I hope they crucify England.

Shit, I don't even know why I'm upset, this makes it easier for Argentina to win the cup; I just want to enjoy the games and these assholes are making it nearly impossible, added to the terrible calls of the referees.

England was terrible, I don't see em winning from Slovenia either playing like that.
Capello gets 8 million euros being a coach can't he do better ?
Maybe that's the problem with England, at club level they're surrounded by international stars and the cling on to that level of quality. These two matches England has put on the pitch makes it painfully clear that England is not as good as the players think they are. I don't understand why players like Rooney, Gerard, Terry and Lampart don't complain to Capello about the line up. They not playing on the position they play at their club. And what's that shit about telling the goalie he's gonna play two hours before kick off ?

Did u guys see Rooney's comments walking off the pitch, something about the english fans showing their support by booing them out. You're playing against Algeria mate what the fuck do you expect from the fans ?
Another reason could be the seasons in England are 2 long. Some players looked exhausted and not giving a fuck.

They deserved booing. Rooney has been shit for two games. Most of 'em have. he forgets that these people are paying tons of money to travel to watch their sorry arses. Other countries wear their shirt with pride-not the English. No invention up front, lazy give aways, poor tactics. Bloody hell, it's like watching Liverpool play.

Apparently a fan got into the dressing room and gave them a bollocking.

"England are one of seven national teams to have won the FIFA World Cup, which they did in 1966 when they hosted the finals. They defeated West Germany 4–2 in extra time in the final. Since then their best performance at a World Cup was a fourth place finish in 1990. They reached the semifinals of the UEFA European Championship in 1968 and 1996. They were the most successful of the Home Nations in the British Home Championship with 54 wins (including 20 shared wins) before the competition was suspended in 1984. They remain a prominent team on the global stage, rarely dropping outside of the top ten on both the FIFA and Elo rankings."

I think I was wrong. They are not weak compared to Venezuela, Japan, USA, Finland, etc.

But England national team was always a joke. Besides the '66 world cup (with a controversial third goal in the final match) and a 3rd place in the lamest Euro cup (where only four teams played), they are nothing.

I'm in full agreement with jellyhead. Rooney, who carried United all season, has been shite since he got injured in Munich. I'll cut them some slack by saying you can't be brilliant all the time, although Messi does a good job of defying that rule. And I agree about the fans and the money they've spent.

In 86 I remember watching England lost against Portugal in their first game, when Ray Wilkins got sent off, and then draw against Morocco. Portugal at that time were not the force they are now. In the last group game Gary Lineker scored a hat trick as England crushed Poland to go through. They ended up going out unluckily to a Maradona inspired Argentina in the quarters. That same year, Belgium who were one of the third place group qualifiers ended up finishing 4th overall. Italy won in 82 after 3 draws in the group phase. Great things can come from shitty starts. England started poorly in 66 and ended up winning.

That's a good point. But I get the feeling the team would perform a lot better if the English press and fans didn't put so much pressure on them. They asked Donovan before the first game about that, and he said he was going to sleep well no matter what the result, but you couldn't say the same about the English. He was exactly right! The fallout from the USA game lamed them against Algeria.

The qualifiying results were promising, no doubt, but sometimes you get teams like Romania sailing through qualifiying with fantastic results, but no one declares them a title candidate. I think the English press needs to remember their best result in 44 years is one semifinal appearance in 1990, and ease off them a bit.

One thing to remember about the English

Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Michael Carrick, Jermaine DeFoe and David James. All good players but together they all helped West Ham get relegated. Put together, the English National team would most likely not finish in the top half of the premier league table if they played 38 league matches.

I was looking at the England starting lineup after the USA game, and they were showing the clubs they played for. A couple of Chelsea players, Rooney for Man Utd., Gerrard for Liverpool.... after that it was Villa, West Ham, etc. Definitely not bad clubs (and better than the clubs the USA players are under contract with), but when you think of the glorious English teams that have done so well in Europe over the past few years, they are overloaded with foreigners. So I think that kind of distorts the expectations a bit as well.

the same press who will be the first to bollock the team for not being good enough.

It's basically the same group of players who went nowhere four years ago. Not good enough then, not good enough now.

Argentina look decent. Higuain gets slated in spain because he's not a "star", but fuck me he knows where the goal is.

Halland - Japan today should be good too.

I can't really argue against everyone's assessment on here of the England team and players, and of the fans' and press expectations and treatment. England are a bit like Liverpool of recent years where it has become a bit of a joke how their fans say at the start of the season, "This is our year."

Thinking about it a bit more, England came to this World cup not knowing who their starting keeper is, question marks over center of defence, not sure whether Gerrard or Lampard can play together and wondering who should partner Rooney upfront. They're sadly lacking out wide too. Missing Beckhams delivery. There is no plan B. Apart from throw Peter Crouch on for the last 10 minutes.

The keeper looks funny but this was one hell of a blast by Donovan

Image

Sneijder just got a fortunate miss/deflection on a diving two fisted punch attempt by the keeper for a 1-0 Holland win.

I am curious as to what Korea and Japan will look like in Brazil in '14. They have both made great strides depth wise since co-hosting the World Cup. I remember a Japanese politician saying pre- Japorea 2002 that football isn't in the conscious of the Japanese youth but will be from this point forward. He then said that 8-12 years later is when the impact of co-hosting the World Cup will show on the national teams of both Korea and Japan as both nations have increased youth developement because of the massive amounts of youth league sign-ups. I remember him saying that because this was 8 years after the USA hosted the World Cup and our domestic league was only in it's 7th year. The USA went on to have a great run in 2002, bowing out in the quarterfinals against the Germans.

So when Japan and Korea both notched impressive wins to start this tournament, I wasn't surprised at all. The Koreans got owned by Argentina 4-1 but if it weren't for the Nigerian keeper's performance, Argentina would have beaten them a hell of a lot worse than the 1-0 scoreline as the Argentines looked better against Nigeria than they did against Korea. That Nigeria v Korea match is going to be one intense match, that's for sure.

Speaking of which, African nations have disappointed so far. Still time, but they have massively underwhelmed.
