The keeper looks funny but this was one hell of a blast by Donovan
Sneijder just got a fortunate miss/deflection on a diving two fisted punch attempt by the keeper for a 1-0 Holland win.
I am curious as to what Korea and Japan will look like in Brazil in '14. They have both made great strides depth wise since co-hosting the World Cup. I remember a Japanese politician saying pre- Japorea 2002 that football isn't in the conscious of the Japanese youth but will be from this point forward. He then said that 8-12 years later is when the impact of co-hosting the World Cup will show on the national teams of both Korea and Japan as both nations have increased youth developement because of the massive amounts of youth league sign-ups. I remember him saying that because this was 8 years after the USA hosted the World Cup and our domestic league was only in it's 7th year. The USA went on to have a great run in 2002, bowing out in the quarterfinals against the Germans.
So when Japan and Korea both notched impressive wins to start this tournament, I wasn't surprised at all. The Koreans got owned by Argentina 4-1 but if it weren't for the Nigerian keeper's performance, Argentina would have beaten them a hell of a lot worse than the 1-0 scoreline as the Argentines looked better against Nigeria than they did against Korea. That Nigeria v Korea match is going to be one intense match, that's for sure.
Speaking of which, African nations have disappointed so far. Still time, but they have massively underwhelmed.
