Easy to see why Clieesen has never saved a pen in his whole career. Van Persie was horrible today. He apparently had some problem before the match, and hopefully Van Gaal will rest him for the 3rd place game.
Finally, I hope Germany smashes the Argies in the final.
Same.
8-1 please!

Well, that shows how poor the rest of his team were in this world cup. He did save them a couple of times. It seemed if Messi didn't do it, then the Argies would struggle.
You could say similar about Robben. Robben has less to work with though than Messi. Not a whole lot of quality in that Holland squad.

It should have been Rodríguez or Muller. Messi is a great player but he has had far from a great tournament.
Good call on Rodriguez. And Muller too, but he was in a better side so unless you really dominate as a player like Zidane or Fat Ronaldo used to do you aren't going to stand out quite as much.
On a side note I thought Hummels got outpaced a few times in the first half which worries me a little as he's a United target according to the papers.

Nice one Germany.

Phillip Lahm retired from German national team too, which is a bit weirder. I'm almost sure there'll be some Sludgy aftermath. After all the scheming over Ballack's captain bullshit, he wins it all and calls it quits at 30, while playing the only position that's unquestionably his with nobody there to remotely replace him?

Yeah I thought he was a tad young, and surprised when I saw the news.
I mean he would be 32 when the Euros come. And 34 isn't that old.

Cutting off a fair amount of games over the next four years may have added a couple more years to his professional career which means a shit ton more money in the long run.
Plus, maybe he can "un-retire" just in time for the Euros, the Olympics or Russia 2018.

True, but this team has a lot of potential. So it's partially offset by the fact that four more years as a national hero means more endorsements and post-playing career options.
