Caught it too last night. I found the editing really suspicious...they cut most of the fights up whereas I think they used to show all of the complete fights. Were the fights bad and they had to edit them to make them look good, or was it purely to fit into a 2 hour episode? It seems like Sonnen is taking this seriously. In all honesty, I think I'd rather be on his team than Jones team. He just seems like he'd be a better coach...

Sonnen out of his "pre fight heel" mode seems like a decent dude. Jones seems like a prick.

I agree & I agree with Eddievanheineken that Sonnen has more to offer.John Simon Ritchie wrote:yeahbuddy wrote:Watched most of the TUF premiere episode.

My take on Jones is he is a freak of nature to be fighting in mma. His height & reach are such a big advantage against other fighters. I think he will beat Sonnen but it should be interesting to see Sonnen attack him the way he attacked Silva. I really want to see Henderson & the "H" bomb fight Jones.
I have no interest in another Machida fight.
I thought Jones looked really silly when him & Sonnen were first in the gym. Sonnen was checking the place out, making small talk, & when they would cut to Jones he was making dumb faces & gestures at Sonnen. Came off like a freshman in high school.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I thought the main event was the best representation of a mma fight that has been shown on Fox. Some wrestling, some good technique, some taking downs, boxing, kicks, etc etc. A very entertaining fight. Johnson won the fight in the 4th & 5th rounds.
Texiera does nothing for me. Good luck fighting any of the top guys in that division.
Cerrone was a big disappointment. I thought he had more to offer than what showed.
When or if Henderson takes care of Melendez ( I think he will), a Pettis/Henderson fight has to happen.
Sonnen & Stann both look terrible in suits. They look like their moms dressed them.
Including the Fx fights, a good night of fights.
Oh yeah,
Ryan Bader is still a tomato can win or not.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Kind of a sad ending for Rampage. He looked a lot lighter than usual and his punches didn't have any wallop to them.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
A decent night of fights. Cowboy looked really tentative against Pettis. Can't wait to see Pettis take on Henderson or someone like Gray Maynard. Glover could have finished Rampage during the first round I thought. Rampage complains non-stop about people not willing to stand with him and that is why he has looked bad lately. Glover was right in front of him for most of the fight and he had nothing except some really wild punches. Glover has nothing for Jones in my opinion. He looked slow as well. Can't wait for next week to see if Edgar has anything for Aldo.

I'd like to see Pettis fight Maynard. And that winner fight the winner of the Henderson/Melendez fight.EddieVanHeineken wrote:A decent night of fights. Cowboy looked really tentative against Pettis. here we go...very good card tonight. Every fight has potential for fireworks. Hope Fitch has that fire again to go for it and try and finish. REal excited for the Aldo Edgar fight. Hope if it's close Frankie doesn't get screwed again.slash4pres wrote:Good card coming up this weekend.

Bigfoot suddenly woke up and in grand fashion. Wow. He pounded the fuck out of Reem.
How did one of the judges have the final fight 49-46? Are they even watching the fight? Man, I feel for Edgar. He always fights the top talent and just comes up short every time. He needs to start stronger.

That's exactly my point...how did the judge score it that way? The first two were obviously aldo, the last two were all edgar. I personally thought that edgar did more in the third. Will have to watch it again...
Love that Overeem came out super cocky, had his hands down the whole fight, and got murdered.
Evans didn't look himself tonight at all. His demeanor doesn't come across to me that he wants to be in the cage.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Silva knocking out Reem was a thing of beauty. Right up there when Marquardt ko in Strikeforce.
Silva was not intimidated at all by Overeem.
Silva's win sure throws a wrench into the heavyweight division doesnt it?
I say Silva fights JDS & winner fights Cain for a rematch. Other than that, what heavyweight is ready to take on Cain?
Aldo didn't win that fight. Yeah, you could say he won the first two rounds, but 3rd was a toss up & Frankie won the last two.
The Evans fight was a bigger turkey than I've ever had or seen on Thanksgiving.
Yeah, book a Evans/Anderson Silva fight. Cough Cough!!!

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Some damn good fights. Maia is looking good at 170, he pretty much Fitched fitch, but from back body triangle instead of in someone's guard. Silva Knocking the fuck out of Reem was a huge surprise, that was the only fight that I thought was a lock. Lil nog definitely got a huge win tonight, Rashad just looks like he's losing to himself out there, extremely timid and did little to sway the judges the other way. To those confused about the main event decision, I thought Aldo for sure did enough in the 1st three to secure the win, Edgar would've had to pull 10-8 rounds out of his ass to win. Shit, maybe he needs to be just as dirty as everyone else and cut to 135, because he still looked undersized next to Aldo.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
And I guess It's only Werdum and Cormier right now for the title shot, and it doesn't seem likely that Cormier and Cain will fight because they train together, and I heard they're going to go through with Mir vs. Cormier again, my guess is that Werdum gets the shot.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I think Edgar outpointed Aldo on the last 2 rounds but that's about it. The third was close but Aldo did more damage. Even his jabs were harder than Edgar's dance floor moves and twitches.slash4pres wrote:Some damn good fights. I hope Overeem still gets to fight Dos Santos, I really want to see that fight, but hey you talk shit, you don't respect your fellow colleague, you get knocked the fuck out.
I enjoyed the Maia fight too, I don't know why were those idiots booing, Maia kept trying to make his moves and all...good stuff.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
So, I watched the fight without without Rogan's commentary and I think I'll give the last round to Aldo. Maybe a tie, Frankie has heart but his game of tag doesn't impress me, my sister used to outpoint me like that when we were kids but one good smack in the face with the back of my hand usually made me the undisputed winner.

Honestly, didn't finish watching that fight, I think I got a good enough glimpse with the first round. Same with the lil ones, only watched the first round of the Benavidez fight. It's a trick I picked up watching GSP fights, one round and you get the picture.yeahbuddy wrote:

I had better expectations for this card, turned out to be kind of a stinker. Sometimes unknowns put on a better show.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Yeah, I was watching it but not really. The last minute of the fight was just like the first minute. Both Evans & Nog need to call it a day. The sport has moved on from fighters like Evans & Nog.mullet_head wrote:Honestly, didn't finish watching that fight, I think I got a good enough glimpse with the first round. Aldo vs. Anthony Pettis set in August.
Now that's going to be a fight.
Keeping fingers & toes crossed that the injury bug does not
hit.

Here is the big expert again. Holy shit.........yeahbuddy wrote:I hope you are right. Having the heavyweight div. kick ass is a good thing.I see it that Cormier was just biding his time. He had 2 hand surgeries last year and stated he was a little tentative to throw the right. I just don't think he wanted to hurt his hand against the mma scrub equivalent of the Brooklyn brawler, doink, or iron mike sharp before getting his shot in the UFC. If you're on the fence about him, watch the Bigfoot and Barnett fights
Although I do not think much of Barnett, & as Cain showed & Overeem will show in a couple of weeks Silva is nothing but a very big tin can.

Anyone watch tuf last night? Wow what a crazy knockout! Looked like hall was really shook up from the damage he did. I'm enjoying the new format of tuf, not having it focus on the in-house reality show bs. Also really think sonnen is an awesome coach.
