Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Watched the Invicta fights last night.
The Kaufman fight is right up there for Fight of the Year. 15 minutes of brawling. She won, but should have been a draw.
Cyborg absolutely mauled her opponent. Why Rousey would want to fight her is beyond me. If that does happen, it will draw huge ppv #s.
Didnt even watch the two championship fights. Lakers game started & was done with Invicta for the night.

UFC Sweden was surprisingly good, those guys brought it. I'll be keeping an eye on the Irish dude, impressive. The michael johnson fight was exciting as hell, the other guy went from being flash koed to winning the fight! Wow!
Funniest fight this weekend was Melvin's just for this chase:

I didnt get to see it because I was apartment hunting. I tried watching the Irish dude on a site I go to but they pulled it. I'm going to watch the Johnson fight now. Did you get a chance to see the Cyborg fight & the Kaufmann fight? If you haven't, you should. Cyborg is a f'n beast.mullet_head wrote:UFC Sweden was surprisingly good, those guys brought it. Saw the McGregor fight.
Dang! Brimage never saw any of those punches coming.
Didn't he already take a second fight coming up?
Watched Johnson fight as well. He's a stiff.
When was the last time he won a fight?
He's going to get his walking papers.

I did, I think she could do damage in the men's division, she MANhandled that poor woman like they were married. Those knees to the face...yeahbuddy wrote:

For future reference, here's a site that always does a great job posting fights with several alternative videos etc.

That Hall guy slowly but viciously plucked away at the other guy & when it was time to take him out, he took him out like a bag of trash.
Impressive. The "oh I feel so bad I beat the other guy up" persona gets old really quick. The producers really played that up this season didnt they?
The only episodes I watched was first episode & last night.

I laughed my ass off when Samman tapped so quick. And if Hall develops a decent ground game and gets his head together, he could be huge. But I suspect he'll go the Golota route instead.

Not many guys are going to put their hand up to fight Uriah Hall.
His power and reflexes with his hands are like a top pro boxer.
Quite fucking scary,to be honest.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Whoever fights him will be a guy like Nate Marquardt (not same division?) but somebody like him. A guy that's been around awhile that is on the bubble, but is really a gate keeper for up and comers.Cyber Spirit wrote:Not many guys are going to put their hand up to fight Uriah Hall.

Hall is very poised as well.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Right now the money lines have Gastelum at around +285 and Hall at -340. I've seen Gastelum as high as +300 and Hall at -400. I think that's too skewed. Gastelum has knockout power of his own and Hall's takedown defense sucks. I think I may need a piece of this. Go Gastelum!

Gastelum has a big heart, thoroughly deserved his win.Hall didn't throw enough in the 3rd when he needed too.caroline wrote:Right now the money lines have Gastelum at around +285 and Hall at -340. Good night of fights all around. Believe the Tate/zingano fight was an early stoppage. Damn Kim Winslow. Hall was waiting he whole fight to do something. Gastelum is a scrappy fighter and kinda reminded me of sonnen in the never ending attacks and movement.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Disagree on the Tate fight being stopped early. She was getting clobbered.
She was complaining that her fingertips were on the mat when she got kneed. She is a sore loser. She may have been winning on the cards, but the fight turned towards end of 2nd round & she was getting her ass beaten.
Reminded me of the Silva/Overeem fight. Overeem was winning fight & at some point late in the 2nd, it turned in favor of Silva.
I'll tell you what- If Zingano can weather the opening storm of Rousey, she's got a chance. She's strong & can take a punch. I want to see a fighter take Rousey into the later rounds.
Is it me or what? Nowadays when Faber fights its like "so what". He's never going to be the champ.
If Hall has to get his head in check, he shouldn't be fighting. And I agree that the guy is like Sonnen. He just keeps coming.
How stupid was Jones during the interview inbetween fights. He just walks away at the end. What a dick!
Overall, a good night of fights. Lately it seems the free fights are better than the ppvs.

He should win the fight, but there is something about Sonnen that concerns him.
Hall should keep at it.He is a great talent who just fought a bad fight in general. He had his moments though.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Watched the weigh ins this evening.
The main thing I noticed was Henderson always looks bigger than his opponents. Not so with Melendez. They looked about the same. Henderson will probably win, but I hope Melendez wins. I think this will be Henderson's toughest test.

I was watching the fight and as soon as I saw Hall taunting Gastelum, I had a feeling he was gonna lose. I fucking hate that. Yes, there are occasional bouts where the other fighter constantly runs away and the taunting may seem justified but that wasn't the case this time. Hall was just being a bitch and it caught up with him.
I'm still amazed that with a 10-inch reach deficit Gastelum was able to do what he did, against a striker. Dude took risks and it paid off.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I love seeing a Diaz lose, especially after they keep taunting their opponents. That's all they have, getting into their opponents heads.

Good night of fights. Last fight was close but I think Henderson just took it. Loved the Diaz beat down and becoming more and more of a fan of Matt Brown.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Great main event tonight. Very close. Melendez gave Henderson one hell of a contest.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Nick didn't respect the head kick & got caught & that was that.
The Mir/Cormier fight was a major dud. If Cormier thinks he can
beat Jones, he needs to find another profession. Frank is past his
prime & a tin can, he should've been disposed like one but wasnt.
The main event was probably the closest fight that was a draw
I've ever seen. It could've gone either way. Henderson has just
cemented the fact he has no ppv value whatsoever. He doesn't
finish fights, & he rarely hurts another fighter. He out points them &
that's about it.
Matt Brown was a stud tonight. Now let's see what he does against
stiffer competition.
What about Chad Mendez? Wow! I'd like to see a rematch against
Aldo.

Indeed. I think Pettis might beat Aldo though.yeahbuddy wrote:Nick didn't respect the head kick & got caught & that was that.
Lack of respect for any of his opponents never mind the headkick. Two beatdowns in a row for little thug brother.

And yeah, Mir should retire.

The Mir fight made me feel like I was watching a fight in slow motion.
It draaaaaaaaaaaaaaaged.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
In the post fight press conference Dana stated that the winner of the Maynard/Grant fight will get the next crack at Henderson.

About Henderson: yeah, agree with that assessment. Was talking with my GF about the fight and how after three rounds of trading punches neither guy was bloodied at all. True, Henderson is more of a kicker but there should still be some visible damage. That lack of visual damage makes the fight seem a little more boring.
Loved the Matt Brown fight too. The other guy gave it to him the best he could and put up a good fight while he could. Brown just finished it.

Holy fuck, I missed a Diaz getting beat down?!
I gotta find a repeat of this fight so I can laugh my ass off.

Yes, and he did his usual arrogant, taunting, acting like he's a bad ass, and then got the fuck beat out of him. Something that hasn't been said yet, is at about the same time the ref stopped the fight, his corner through in the towel.
