I loved the year at U of I. Now I can go to the bathroom at halftime and make it back to my seat before the second half kickoff.
Home field matters to the Vikes.
The Vikings own players are worried.

Vikings' Kluwe: TCF Stadium field 'unplayable'

By Brad Biggs

The Minnesota Vikings got the first look at TCF Bank Stadium on Sunday when they held a walk-through at the stadium on the University of Minnesota campus.

Vikings punter Chris Kluwe, who was critical of the decision to play there during the week, called the field "unplayable" on his personal Twitter account. At this point, however, it's unknown what, if anything can be done about the situation. Kluwe added that he has been muzzled, asked not to talk about the field on his Twitter account that has the handle chriswarcraft.

"Serious time -- All respect to the people that cleared the field and got it ready, you did an amazing job. That being said, it's unplayable," Kluwe wrote on his Twitter account.

"The field is as hard as concrete an hour and a half after they took the tarp off, and anyone that hits their head is getting a concussion," he continued. "I find it interesting that the NFL can claim an emphasis on player safety, and then tell us the field is fine. It's beyond hypocritical.

"I can only hope, however unlikely, that no one gets catastrophically injured at the trainwreck that's about to take place tomorrow night.

"To everyone -- that was a totally serious post on the field conditions. It is like walking on concrete. They took the tarp off at the same time they'll take it off before the game. The problem isn't heating it, it's retaining that heat.

"Like a lot of you are saying, hopefully the snow will at least provide a cushion tomorrow night :)

"The difference between TCF and fields you mentioned is they were built for cold weather. They have heating coils so no freezing.

"I've been asked not to tweet anymore about the field so as not to distract teammates (who were there) and I will honor that."

Snow is in the forecast for Monday. The field has been tarped and is being heated while covered, but as Kluwe noted there are not heating coils underneath the field and he believes the surface will become too hard during the game. It's not going to be as cold Monday as had originally been forecasted.

The NFL has committed to playing the game there. Barring something unforeseen, the Bears will depart for Minneapolis soon.

What a finish to that Eagles game. That has to be a backbreaker for the Giants.

Updated playoff scenarios:

AFC playoff picture

New England 1. New England Patriots (12-2) – Would clinch the AFC East, first-round bye and home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs with a win at the Bills or a Jets loss at the Bears.

Pittsburgh 2. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-4) – Clinched a playoff berth despite losing to the Jets due to strength-of-victory tiebreaker. Would clinch the AFC North and a first-round playoff bye with a win vs. the Panthers and Ravens loss at the Browns.

Kansas City 3. Kansas City Chiefs (9-5) – Would clinch the AFC West with a win vs. the Titans and a Chargers loss at the Bengals. Would lose the tiebreaker for the AFC West with the Chargers. Would clinch a first-round bye with two wins, two Steelers losses and two Ravens losses.

Indianapolis 4. Indianapolis Colts (8-6) – Would clinch the AFC South with two wins, or a win and Jaguars loss at the Texans in Week 17. Leading the tiebreaker with the Jaguars based on record against common opponents (5-4 to 4-5) but cannot clinch the division next week (the Jaguars still can finish with a better division record).

Baltimore 5. Baltimore Ravens (10-4) – Would clinch a playoff berth with a win/tie at the Browns, or the following: a Chiefs loss and Chargers win/tie and either a Colts loss/tie or Jaguars loss/tie. Would lose the tiebreaker with the Steelers for the AFC North title. Would clinch home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs with two wins and a Steelers loss and two Patriots losses and two Jets wins. Have won head-to-head tiebreaker with the Jets.

NY Jets 6. New York Jets (10-4) – Would clinch a playoff berth with a win/tie at the Bears or Colts loss/tie or Jaguars loss/tie or both Chiefs loss and Chargers win/tie. Would clinch the AFC East, first-round bye and home-field advantage in the AFC playoffs with two wins and two Patriots losses and either a Ravens loss or two Steelers wins.

Next in line
7. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-6) – Would clinch the AFC South with a Week 17 win at the Texans and a Colts loss to the Titans.
8. San Diego Chargers (8-6) – Would clinch the AFC West with two wins and a Chiefs loss, or a win and two Chiefs losses.
10. Oakland Raiders (7-7) – Would clinch the AFC West with two wins and a Chiefs loss to the Titans and a Chargers loss.
11. Tennessee Titans (6-8) – Would clinch the AFC South with two wins and a Colts loss at the Raiders and two Jaguars losses.

NFC playoff picture

Atlanta 1. Atlanta Falcons (12-2) – Clinched a playoff berth with the Giants’ loss. Would clinch the NFC South, first-round bye and home-field advantage through NFC playoffs with a win or tie vs. the Saints.

Philadelphia 2. Philadelphia Eagles (10-4) – Would clinch the NFC East with a win or Giants loss. Would clinch a first-round bye with a win and two Bears losses. Would win head-to-head tiebreaker with the Falcons but lose head-to-head tiebreaker to the Bears.

Chicago 3. Chicago Bears (9-4) – Would clinch the NFC North with a win at the Vikings. Would clinch a first-round bye with three wins, or two wins and an Eagles loss.

St. Louis 4. St. Louis Rams (6-8) – Would clinch the NFC West with two wins, or two Seahawks losses and a 49ers loss to the Cardinals. Currently lead the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Seahawks.

New Orleans 5. New Orleans Saints (10-4) – Would clinch a playoff berth with a win at the Falcons, or both a Packers loss and a Buccaneers loss. Would win the NFC South with two wins and a Falcons loss to the Panthers.

New York Giants 6. New York Giants (9-5) – Would clinch a playoff berth with a win at the Packers due to better strength of victory than the Buccaneers.

Next in line
7. Green Bay Packers (8-6) – Would clinch the NFC North with two wins and a Bears loss at the Vikings.
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6) – Would probably need two wins to make the playoffs. Would win a tie with the Saints due to better record vs. common opponents, and possibly with the Bears due to conference record, but lose strength-of-victory tiebreakers.
9. Seattle Seahawks (6-8) – Would clinch the NFC West with two wins, or a win and a Rams loss and a 49ers loss.
13. San Francisco 49ers (5-9) – Would clinch the NFC West with two wins and a Seahawks loss.

That attention whore Favre has been upgraded from Out to Questionable this afternoon.

If you're allowed to do that, why wouldn't every team simply list their best players as Out every week and change their mind on game day? Vegas has to be PISSED today.

You don't have to remind me how much the Dallas secondary is pathetic. That group has been overrated for several years.
I don't care if Terrence Newman is voted to the pro-bowl again, the guy is not deserving of that award. He is the most overrated of the bunch.
The only DB that should be kept is Jenkins. The rest can be and should be replaced.

Man, after such a crazy season, if the AFC play-offs started today KC would be the only surprising team to make it, and they're not locked yet. NFC is a little more intriguing though.

Devin Hester refusing to accept any of the glory for breaking the record last night and deferring to the ten guys blocking was a refreshing change of pace from a skills position player in this day and age.

One last thought. If Favre was really concussed, he was sure lucid at the podium in postgame. He's such a turd. I feel sorry the Vikings fans had to deal with his bullshit again this year.

I did not watch the game last night, but as soon as I turned on ESPN for the highlights, I laughed out loud when I saw Bret take that hit and remain motionless on the snowy field
I wish the hit he took was even harder. The man deserves all the pain he has received on the field this year.
His ego is out of control. For whatever reason he is under the impression that he is LARGER than the game. No so Bret.

Now take your injured self off the damn field once and for all.

what does that have to do with the bear crying for no reason and being hypocritical because their field sucks? Yes the vikes are having a rough year, doesn't mean the Bears should be lobbying for an extra home game.

no doubt i do respect his toughness. what i don't care for is his behavior the past couple years
retiring, to retire, a return to the league, etc...

since he returned again for one more year(which was a huge mistake and ruined the Vikings) i think laying on the turf, all concussed is exactly what he deserved.

unless you work at ESPN, the majority of NFL fans are sick and tired of reading about Favre

Watching the Pats on Sunday night, it's clear they won't make it far in the playoffs. My guess is one and done. They have glaring weaknesses that are just waiting to get exposed. Their defense is horrible overall. Brady doesn't have any dangerous weapons on offense. Heck, the other night he got outplayed by Matt Flynn. A team with a really stout defense will come into Foxboro and shut them down. Better luck next year, Bellicheat.

You really are clueless, aren't you?

Brady only had the ball for 20 minutes and yet he put up 24 points. The problem was the defense couldn't get off the field and then got tired due to injuries that hurt their defensive line rotations, some bonehead plays (Brandon Merriweather, officially the lowest football IQ on the team and needs to be benched every 3 or 4 games to smarten him up) and some bad penalties that negated good Patriot plays.

This is a young team so they will play streaky. They played 5 really good games since the loss to Cleveland and then managed to get a win in a game where they played poorly. Belichick gets to say "I told you so" all week long in practice and will have them fired up heading into the playoffs. They are very close to clinching the #1 Seed which will give them a bye week so they can heal up, get prepared, and then get 2 chances at home to get to the playoffs against a bunch of teams that hey have already beaten this year.

They are far from invincible but would still be considered the favorite in the AFC playing in Foxboro. The only team they need to really worry about in the AFC is Baltimore because that seems to be their toughest matchup. They have already pounded the Jets and Steelers. San Diego doesn't fare well here in the cold. I'm still not believing KC, especially since Belichick knows Cassel's tendencies. And Manning in the snow and cold is about as effective as you are with the ladies, and we all know you couldn't get laid with a fist full on hundreds in a whorehouse.

So if the standing end up as they are looking now and it's NY vs KC and Balt vs Indy in the wild card round, I'm actually going to root for KC and Indy to win so the Colts can come to Foxboro and play outdoors the way that football was meant to be played.
