NHL record, most goals scored in proportion to team - 29.5% of the Florida Panthers' goals in 2000–01
Of all the numbers, all of them impressive, this one stands out big time. I don't care how bad the rest of your team is. Scoring nearly a 3rd of your team's goals is ridiculous.
The thing I remember about Bure, if the puck was 20 feet in front of him, and a member of the opposing team, the other guy had no chance of getting there first.
Wisniewski signs for 6 years/$33 million in Columbus.
Let the madness begin. I like what the Wiz brought to the Habs last year, but did people learn nothing from contracts like the one to Sheldon Souray. Wiz has nice offensive upside, and some toughness, but his defensive game is so-so, and he's not an elite NHL defenseman by any means.
Teams spending to get to the floor are going to throw things out of whack big time this year. I think Brad Richards is totally going to break the bank.

You're being kind when you call his defense so-so.

I wouldn't take Kaberle back at any price. But Ryder for about $2M would work. Not sure if he would sign for that but I can't see anyone giving him $4M again.

Ryder at $2 million would be worth it, but I can't see him taking a 50% paycut, although no team has rushed to sign him yet. Caron or somebody like Spooner might be able to step in and won't take 30 games off per year. Another thing is they need to sign Marchand this year and Krecji and Rask next year, so it's probably best to let him walk.
Yzerman is meeting with reps for Richards. Stamkos might be up for grabs. ANy team that signs him will have to give up 1st rounders over the next 4 years and have the cap space, but damn. You'd have to think Toronto or the NY Rangers would be interested. Not sure about their cap situations.
Habs have signed Erik Cole for 4 years/18 million and backup goalie Peter Budaj for 2 years/2.3 million.
I like both deals. Cole brings some size and hands to the Habs' top 6 forwards, and Budaj has been a starter before, so he can be a stopgap if Price goes down or needs a bit more rest than last year.

Cole is nice pickup for the Habs.
Hell yeah. Great pickup. One of may favorites, he grew up 30 minutes from me

EDIT: Ryder to Dallas, 2yrs 7mill.
I think Ryder is somewhat of a system guy and he's inconsistent. No way he is worth $3.5M
The Bruins need to save cap space for next year. If they bring everyone back except Kaberle & Ryder (along with Recchi retiring) they won't have too many holes to fill as there are guys in Providence ready for the show. And I like the Hamilton draft pick, he can step right in and replace Kaberle. I think we'll see Rask as the starter in '12-'13 because I can't see a 39 year old goalie getting $8M with all the guys the UFAs they will have. If they play their cards right they will have a 4-5 year window where they can be highly competitive and possibly snag another cup.

yzerman was going after brad richards today. he did an interview with tsn and didn't seem too confident they could sign him.
Caps got Vokoun in nets for 1 year/$1.5 million. The steal of the UFA season if you ask me.
If their stars are back healthy, and with a tandem of Vokoun/Neuvirth in nets, plus the grit they added with Hamrlik, Brouwer, and Ward, I'd say the Caps are looking pretty good.

No kidding. Can't believe he's that cheap.
No wonder Florida are the bookies least favourite!

The B's are in great shape. Full roster returning with the additions of Pouliot, Caron, Corvo for Recchi, Ryder, Kaberle with money saved. A darkhorse contender might be Jared Knight, and then Brian Burke would need to pour another shot. A healthy and motivated Rask entering a contract year could be big early in the season. Chia's pimp hand is large.
