It would serve Cincy fans right. How can they not support their team when they are competing for a playoff spot? It's a "win and you're in". How can even fair weather fans not latch onto that?

Raiders win, Broncos lose
how does Denver get in?
Raiders and Denver both could get in at 9-7, how would that happen?

You're in Houston. The Texans can't improve their lot, you don't think they're going to rest their starters and lay down???bane wrote:True, but their chances are as good or better than anybody else under that scenario.Tymaster wrote:But that alone doesn't get Cincy in.bane wrote: I really don't see Tenn beating Houston. As for the Bengals, I think the Ravens come in and KILL them. A: to send a message to the AFC entering the playoffs, and B: the last team(s) you want to play in the playoffs are division teams. The Ravens know this.

Re: NFL 2011 Thread
No, because they played like shit the past two games and they desperately need to get their mojo back before the playoffs. They've got a couple starters back from injury that will need some reps too. If the game gets out of hand, then yeah, they'll pull starters, but I expect they'll play to win otherwise.Tymaster wrote:

That can't happen. Denver would be 8-8. Cinci already has 9 wins. They could both get in with wins, but pretty much everybody else would have to lose.LAglamrocker wrote:Raiders win, Broncos lose

Every POSSIBLE explanation is spelled out on nfl.com Some of them are whacky. Like in the event of a three way tie. In a three way tie a team you beat head to head can still get in over you due to strength of schedule.

Yep. They obviously have a really good thing going in New Orleans. Great team in a great city and the people there deserve it after 45 years of futility.bane wrote:Congrats to Drew Brees for being a straight up bad ass.
I just don't know if they can win a playoff game in Green Bay.
The Saints have never won shit in the playoffs on the road.
In fact they've never won a playoff game on the road.

They'll only need to win one this year. I'm not too sure they can do it either, but it ought to be one hell of a game.Crazy Levi wrote:

The 49ers aren't going to lose to the Rams with a 1st round bye on the line.
And they'd have to win two road playoff games to get to the Super Bowl, right?
No way.

Which they could. They give up a lot of yardage and there's a chance it will bite them on the ass.Tenacious_Dio wrote:Assuming Green Bay doesn't lay a KC-sized egg against Detroit, or say, the Giants.Crazy Levi wrote:And they'd have to win two road playoff games to get to the Super Bowl, right?
Are they favourites? Obviously... But nobody's a lock come the play-offs.

There's no team this year that you can look at and say they are definitely going to win the Superbowl. I don't think at this point you can even predict who is going to get to the SB. Every team has a serious flaw, especially in the AFC.
The Patriots defense sucks, Flacco is nothing more than a game manager and he makes too many mistakes, Houston is too banged up, Tebow gets exposed as a fraud against decent teams, and Rapistberger is hurt and his O-line is suspect. Try and pick a winner out of that mess. The top 3 teams in the NFC are better at this point but they are all still beatable. This year is wide open.

I could have sworn we were told that team was on the road to the Superbowl this year. As was the case last year too.
Oh well, at least they get to be the host city and have a nice view of the winner raising the trophy.

They're going to have to figure something out defensively. Khalil Bell looked like Walter Payton and Josh Mccown looked like an NFL QB Sunday night. Good thing the Pack has Rodgers. I don't think he's human.DOWN2WHISKEY wrote:HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!

I had never heard of Kahlil Bell til this weekend. I thought I was watching Gale Sayers. I think what amazed me the most was how patient he was waiting for his blockers and then...wham...he's 5 yards downfield.johnk5150 wrote: They're going to have to figure something out defensively. Dallas game was moved to NBC, Sunday night.
Not happy about that. Will have to wait all day long before the game
begins. Fucking T.V. and their ratings.
Not sure what to expect on Sunday.
The NFC East is so unpredictable.
If Dallas were to play the Eagles 10 times, the Eagles would win 9 games because of the match-ups are horrible for Dallas.
Good thing the Dallas match up a lot better vs Giants.
Last week Giants drilled the Jets, this week the Giants are capable of laying a huge egg and getting smoked by Dallas.

Of course they moved the game. It's one of the biggest games of the week and it's one of football's biggest rivalries. It will give fans a chance to watch a game that means something after they finish watching their team earlier in the day.Machado wrote:Dallas game was moved to NBC, Sunday night.

There are 16 games on Sunday and 12 of them have playoff implications. It's pretty cool when 3/4 of the games mean something.

As a selfish fan, I would have preferred to watch the game to start the day. Not at the end of the night.

Making the last two weeks of the season all divisional games was perhaps the smartest thing Goodell ever did.SkyDog112046 wrote:There are 16 games on Sunday and 12 of them have playoff implications. It's pretty cool when 3/4 of the games mean something.

Would you prefer the days just before the salary cap when you knew the 4 teams who would be playing in the conference championships before training camp opened?Tommy wrote:SkyDog112046 wrote:There are 16 games on Sunday and 12 of them have playoff implications. Yeah, it's better than when most of the divisional games were over by week 15 and the last couple of weeks were loaded with inter-conference games with little meaning.Tymaster wrote:Making the last two weeks of the season all divisional games was perhaps the smartest thing Goodell ever did.SkyDog112046 wrote:There are 16 games on Sunday and 12 of them have playoff implications. Yes. It was better football. Compare the best baseball teams and the best of every other league. Now it's a bunch of 10-6 crap. I mean Seattle won the division at 7-9 last year. It's mediocre crap. And the refs add to it. There's some myth that higher score = better games.
Contraction needs to happen too...in all 4 sports.
