If you're in a hockey pool, who is your #1 overall draft pick? Crosby? Ovechkin? Stamkos? St Louis? One of the choker Sedins?
Stay away from Sid. This concussion thing has been way too long. I know they want to be safe, but they've shut him down 2 times already I believe.

Re: The official NHL thread
I'd say Ovy has the most to prove. Although based on the some of the articles I've seen his offseason training consists of getting drunk and banging multiple russian models at once. Maybe Stamkos is the safer pick. The Sedins are damaged goods. St. Louis has to start showing his age at some point. Too many gray areas with Crosby.WOLF wrote:Yeah, too early. Can a team be paying a buy out to a guy on an old contract, all the while paying him for a new contract?Kid-Wicked wrote:garth snow is trying to sign an old team mate.

It would be hilarious if they signed him to a 2-3 year deal, he tanked year 1, and they had two Alexi Yashin buyouts on the books.

Re: The official NHL thread
Some people think its a consipracy.
They think they don't want the new arena vote to pass And they know the fans hate him so much they will vote no just because they sign this guy. Even a homer like me can't spin this ino a positive.
And nobody said they 'were trying to sign him" they just said they have talked, which is bad enough.

Not crazy about those designs. Sort of bland. Almost as forgettable as the Blue Jacket's uniforms.Gibsonite wrote:Here's the Jets' new logo.I think it's awesome..Wonder what the full jersey will look like?

You mean the 'third' one with the cannon? I think it sucks. The other two are decent.chungasrevenge wrote:Not crazy about those designs. Sort of bland. Osgood, just retired. Hall of Fame or no? He has 401 wins, 3 cups, 50 shutouts.
Been debating this a while on another board. Thoughts?
BTW, I say yes, as a Ranger fan for whatever that's worth.

Does anyone think Toronto makes the playoffs this year? I was looking at their roster as of now and I still can't see them cracking the top 8 in the east. Could be another long year up there.

Where does it say they are 'trying' to sign him? It says thye have talked to him, not that they've offered him anything. I don't think he will be an Islander at all now. I think they want somebody ele to sign him.

the critics will say that he had a strong team in front of him and hence thats why he won so much. But he did step it up during playoffs a lot.
Oh and he might not have been the best goalie ever but he won a lot. A lot of 'better' goalies have better stats but not won fuck all.

Wang is possibly the worst owner in sports.

Not a chance he's the worst.
I guess if you were hemoraging millions of dollars out the door each year because of your arena, you would be spending millions, ey?
The guys loses millions and millions of dollars every year, just because he was the only guy who stepped up to keep the team on Long island. There are tons of guys with low payrolls in sports who are making bank, go hate on them.

Don't hand me that arena crap. The guy is rich as hell and yet the Isles have 3 million in buyouts to hit the floor. There is no excuse for not putting a good product on the ice. He's talking to Yashin again, are you kidding me? Then they go and help out the Devils, a division rival mind you, by getting Rolston off their hands.
BTW, asking the taxpayers in Nassau to buy a new arena for him isn't "stepping up".

He spends millions (he loses millions), and yes it is the arena. At least part of it is the arena. Your team owns his team's tv station and the newspaper. that's a big part of it too.Tommy wrote:NeverSurrender wrote:Not a chance he's the worst.

Donald Sterling of the LA Clippers profits every year , yet dumps his team almost every year too. That's a shitty owner. Wang has no profit.
Wang loses money every year, and they are bulding through the draft, you know the same way the Blackhawks and Penguins won the cup?
And it's funny you bring up Yashin and spending money in the same post, since HE WAY OVERPAID that dumbfuck 10 years ago. The dude used to spend all his money and look where it got him? The same place the sabres owner is about to be in a few years.. fucked. And I like the Sabres. He tried to pay Erhoff to be a top 4 d-man, the one major hole on the team, but he wouldn't sign. In a couple of years when these kids grow up a little more, free agent's will sign there. Especially if they get the new arena.
I'm not saying he's the best owner in sports, I'm just saying he's far from the worst.

Nah, I'm around.
He may not be THE worst, but numbers don't lie. And the amount of suckage from the Islander under his watch is only matched by maybe the Florida Panthers.
And again, this arena shit is a scam on his part.
