It was a ridiculous suspension. Apparently even the NHLPA are scratching their heads. Letang cut across open ice with his head way down. He needs to expect to get hit hard doing that. If you take that hit out of hockey, then might as well take contact out of the game altogether. Hell, Scott Stevens made a career out of that.

So to answer your question - no calls to the police were made - except maybe by sarcastic Bruins fans.

Rags get: Chris Higgins, Ryan McDonough, Pavel Valentenko, and Doug Janik

This might be the second worst trade in Habs history - after the Patrick Roy deal.

Busto never player for the Habs, Pyatt played a couple of seasons on the 4th line and signed as a UFA with Tampa, Gomez is the biggest waste of cap space in NHL history!

Meanwhile, Valentenko is a decent insurance policy if the Rangers need one, Higgins became Ales Kotalik and then Brandon Prust - a character kid, and McDonough looks like a future all-star and will anchor the Rangers D for the next decade. Not to mention, the Habs' conference rival signed Gaborik with the money they saved with Gomez.

Ugh!

Sather is the absolute worst GM when it comes to free agents and the draft. He passed over Parise to get Jessiman and among other bad contracts, he's the one who inked that Gomez deal. I could go on, but you get it.

However, he is the best when it comes to swinging a trade. He got Jagr for Anson Carter straight-up. I know Jagr wore out his welcome in DC. But he got the Caps to pay for half of Jagr's salary.

He's a damn wizard when it comes to trades, the only thing is that it's usually him covering his own ass for some shitty signing.

All these young, fast players, and he insists on playing dump and chase when the Habs smallish forwards have no chance of outmuscling bigger D-men in the corner. There will be all kinds of shit stirred up when the 5th place team in one division has more points than the 3rd and 4th in another, but that's how it worked in the old days, and I can live with it now for the sake of amping up the rivalries.

Also, look for Phoenix to wind up in Quebec City or Ontario in a year or two, balancing out the conferences.
