Well in fairness Teixeira gets off to a slow start every year before heating up around May - then again he's also several years younger.

I wouldn't doubt Ortiz being older than he's actually listed. Allegedly he's what, 35? I dunno.

Either way he's got a bad body (ie. he's fat) and few guys can be porkers and keep up bat speed. Matt Stairs has stuck around at 42 as a pinch hitter but there's not many other guys in their mid 30s or older that are big dudes and still playing.

The decline was inevitable although I do agree it's a bit ridiculous to be killing the guy after 3 games. Give him a month of sucking before you railroad him.

Great game last night.
What a duel between Pettitte and lackey.
How about the bean-balls. Only in a Yankees vs red sox series can a player be hit on the head, another in the elbow and both those players are laughing it up, standing next to each other at 1st base.

I really don't think either HBP was intentional. I also believe that youk never thought Pettitte was throwing at him and same goes for Jeter.

Granderson hit a BOMB to RF of pappy.

Chan Ho goes 3 scoreless innings.
Who could have predicted that?

The Fish managed to pull a win outta their ass, thanks to timely hitting by Uncle Wes and Paulino, and the one good bullpen guy out of that hot mess last night, Tim Wood. Yay Woody! Hope Robertson pitches a CG tonight, that fucking pen scares me right now.

Home opener tomorrow vs. the Dodgers! YAAAYYYYYYYY

Gallardo and the Brewers agree to 5/30.1 deal.

That's another pitcher off the market. That leaves basically Lee, Sheets and Webb ( if they're not on the DL coming up ).

I don't think Machado knows much Yankee history prior to 1999 or so. He's probably referring to like Ramiro Mendoza or something.

Small sample size, but after four games the Angels have sucked in every aspect (although the bullpen was good in three of the games, only imploded tonight). Man oh man.

Go put your tampa bay rays jersey on already Jake.

Ramiro Mendoza helped the Yankees win. That's all I have to say about him.

I'm going to St. Pete to see the Yankees play on Sunday. Burnett and James Shields. We're sitting on the moon but maybe I'll take some pics.

What have you heard about the rays pitcher who was stuck in the shoulder last night?
I didn't see the play, but heard a blurb on the radio this morning.

If you take some pics, try to get a sweet shot

I was actually watching when that happened last night.

They said he could have continued but in all likelihood it would have tightened up and since he's had a couple of surgeries on that shoulder they didn't want to risk it. He probably won't miss a start.

I've gotta say. I've really been digging watching the A's play this year so far. Maybe it's the perennial under-dog story, or my love of Moneyball ( awesome book ). They're just a really easy team to root for. Like the AL's version of the Marlins.

If they ain't playing Boston or Seattle. I root for em'.

I didn't really dig listening to them play tonight!

Seriously, though, I have to admit...if they were in another division I would root for them.

The Red Sox:
1W-3L with the last 2 losses being 3-1 and 4-3. So far, exactly as predicted. Not enough run support and the team can't win unless the pitching staff is absolutely perfect. It's going to be a long season.

Step away from the ledge. I think the team just isn't clicking yet. Also remember the misplays? The defense is incredible this year, but even then you can make a bad throw ( Scutaro ).

Also it's not neccesarily a lack of offense that's killing them. It's the bullpen. There's talk that Paps is tipping his pitches. He looked fucking good in game 1, and good in the ninth for game 2. Bard needs to become closer in waiting, 8th inning ace they need him to be. He has a wicked slider, but isn't consistent with it. Eckersley was killing him for it in the MFY series. Okijima needs to find his groove too. The BP is where the issue is.

Don't get me fucking started on Overateby Ellsbury. YOU FUCKING SUCK! There is no reason the worst offensive player on the team should be batting lead-off. Bat him ninth or not at all. Screw this "potential" shit. Move that motherfucker for someone now, before his value plummets anymore. We've seen his ceiling already, in his limited playing time in 2007. You go from Manny to Jacoby in LF. That makes my brain want to eat itself. Oh wait.....he steals a lot of bases. Who gives a fuck?

There were some great fucking games today! Seattle coming back in the ninth ( Guitterez GW single ) against Texas. CC taking a no-hitter into the 8th, for looking fatter every year that guy is a badass. Matsui's walkoff GW single in the ninth against Oakland.

Varitek hitting two fucking HRs, one of which was back to back with Hermidia. Beating Greinke. 5 HRs....for a lack of power. Ellsbury not sucking as bad today, he went 3/5 ( I still say trade that motherfucker ). Beckett doing pretty well until his 30 pitch 8th. Okajima and Ramirez with two perfect relief innings.

Cheers.

It's looking like Varitek is going to be Beckett's catcher from here on. Beckett was unable to get comfortable with Martinez. This could actually turn out to be a good thing. Beckett pitches like a top of the rotation guy with Varitek catching so it will improve the pitching overall. It will help with the wear & tear on Martinez and give Tek some regular work in case he is needed. The last couple of seasons Tek started out ok and faded quickly as he tired. Catching once a week will keep him well rested and I wouldn't be surprised to see him bat .280 or so with 10-12 HR's in 33 or so starts.

Ortiz looks older with each and every game. He has struck out 8 times in his last 9 at-bats. He is 2 for 18 with a single, a double, 1 RBI, and 9 strikeouts, most of which have been looking. Hermida and Lowell should be DH'ing, Ortiz should be sitting.

Nancy Drew hurt his neck on the plane ride and couldn't play. What a fucking pussy.

Pedroia is the man! He is fun to watch play, isn't he?

kill,
how is your #1 sox ellsbury feeling today? he took a knee to the ribs
from beltre.
i guess you got your wish-he may not bat leadoff anytime soon.

can you tell "tito" to play hall at ss a lot more please-he looks great out there,

C.C. pitched great on Saturday. if the rays hitter did not get that single, the debate would have been the talk of the town-whether Girardi would have taken C.C. out of the game with the 110 pitches thrown to that point.

jake-what's up w/burrell and his nasty slide coming back to 1st base? was he trying to ends Tex's season because his own season is in the garbage?

I went to the game yesterday but didn't bother taking pictures since we were sitting so high up.

I saw Burrell's slide, he's so lousy. There are rumblings here that they don't have much patience and he could get cut in a month or so.

He's so bad.

I thought you were going to take a pic of the final score and a pic of yourself wearing your tampa rays jersey,

even before this season began, who in the rays front office believed that burrell would be productive.
hank blalock better shine his shoes because its only a matter of time
before he is called up to replace burrell.
not only has he looked overmatched at the plate, but you can tell he's beyond frustrated. the look on his face when he slid was just twisted. he knew he was out and he wanted to hurt someone.

His X rays were negative. I think he'll only be out one or two games with bruised ribs. Even though it's like the top of the 2nd right now in Minnesota, with the weather reports I don't think they'll finish the game. Much less play tommorrow. Oh and Ortiz has struck out ( five in a row ) :x

I didn't watch all the Tampa game. I missed Burrell's slide, but saw it on MLB Tonite. I think that kind of shit is crap. You don't try to take out a fucking player...especially at the start of the season.....especially when your team has a pretty good shot at the Division....especially not in the Playoffs. It's like a AAAA player trying to make an impression in ST.

Someone call Nolan Ryan, or Pedro, or Joba The Fat. It's head hunting season.
