Last night was a reminder of why I enjoy the UFC, there were some good submissions and good fights in general.

I dunno, if you ask Yeahbuddy they were a bunch of onesided beatdowns and garbage fights.

In all seriousness, great night of fights- good KOs good subs, and the main and co-main were great too. So I guess Gus and Cormier are LHW's only hope, maybe Rumble, too.

I guess they originally wanted Nurmagomedov vs Cerrone, but Khabib turned it down because it falls during Ramadam. (Every nine months, Muslims refrain from consuming any food or liquids from dawn until sunset each day for a month) Because Khabib is a practicing Muslim, the rigors of training camp, not to mention weight-cutting or an actual fight, would be nearly impossible.

Too bad. That would have been a hell of a war also.

Now THAT was a good fucking card. I'm pretty sure Erick Silva is still on a stretcher in the middle of the octagon.

Shitty cards usually deliver, no exception this time.
The UFC needs to be more patient building up these guys though. If they want Silva to be a star they can't just throw him against top guys immediately after he beats a can. Didn't they learn their lesson with Oliveira?

I was thinking the same thing after the fight. Silva has a lot of talent and if he was brought up like a young boxer, he'd be a huge star. But, that's big issue when the promoter is essentially the league. They aren't looking out for the fighters best interest in the way say Golden Boy promotions might for one of their young fighters. As GB isn't a league unto itself, it is in their best interest to cultivate talent for the long run. UFC can't run itself that way when it is trying to be the fighting version of MLB or NFL. That
s too bad because so many young fighters are getting put into fights they aren't ready for or they are put into fights with other undefeated novices.

^^^^^Hahaha isn't Vítor next in line after Machida for a title shot? if Sonnen manages to survive the first round I could see him grinding out a decision and getting another shot.

He's gonna have his work cut out for him. Vitor >>> Wanderlei.

Good night of fights, except Pearson getting robbed. That takes the place of the most BS decision I've ever seen, now replacing Shogun/Machida 1. It was his home town and half the people booed the decision.

Sanchez seems to get a lot of questionable decisions.

Yeah he does but this one was even worse. He clearly lost all rounds and one judge had 30-27 for Sanchez. What the fuck.

Chael Sonnen tested positive for 2 banned substances and gets removed from 175 fight.

I don't really see too many people that high level enough to face Vitor, maybe Jacare or a Rockhold rematch. Mousasi was barely touched by Munoz at all, and I think he'd actually match up pretty good with Vitor.

Daaamn! Ronda's scary!
Wideman's gonna need to work on his late round stamina.
At least two of the judges were watching the ring girls, not the fights.

As she was walking out I saw the look on her face and said "No armbar tonight! She's gonna knock that bitch out." I was laughed at for saying it, but I got the last laugh. That was sweet.

That hip toss was unfucking real. Talk about a vice grip of a hold and to know the other bitch out with it on top of it. It was like taking a regular person off the street and putting them in the ring with RR.

BJ has that old fighter 'itis'. Like Liddell, like Wanderlei, he's stayed too long.

176 has been scrapped.

Was at fights this past weekend-

BJ Penn- ufc fans love & I mean LOVE this man. No wonder it was
hard for him to call it a day. The guy is treated like a rock star.
He's a bit of a drama queen, but a class act & although he got
his ass handed to him, he went out on top.

Ronda's hip toss- easy to do when your opponent is already out
before the hip toss. There is nobody in the ufc for her to fight.
Cat Zigano is the obvious choice, but she hasn't fought in over
a year so that's a mute point.

It may still be a ways away, but we just got a whole lot closer to a Ronda Rousey vs. Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino super fight in the UFC with announcements this week. Invicta FC announced this week that it had signed a multi-year broadcast deal with the UFC's digital network, "Fight Pass."

So how would Dana promote this,
' The most dangerous woman on the planet Vs the Transgender world champ'?

Night of the finishes!!
Cerrone is coming into his own, still not convinced
he is top 5 though.
And does anyone else agree with me that Brian Stann
is a great commentator?
