I hear ya, he has a decent year and gets signed to a ridiculous contract, if it wasn't for that contract, he'd be gone, 2 years ago! I don't mind him as a 3rd line center, at 3rd line center salary...Tommy wrote:jizzyjizim wrote:Your favourite player atm? Jordan Eberle

Horcoff has been stealing from your team for years. Awful contract. BTW, it's a $5.5 cap hit through 2014-15. Sorry dude.
If it makes you feel any better we have Brad Richards @ $6.66 through 2019-20.

Agreed.
Looking at some deadline rumors and what not, there are some really bad contracts out there. 2nd pairing D, 3rd liners with no movement clauses and inflated salaries. Just awful.

One of the worst Sather contracts ever. Fixed it by pulling off one of the biggest ass rapings of all time.
Traded to Montreal by NY Rangers with Tom Pyatt and Michael Busto for Chris Higgins, Ryan McDonagh and Pavel Valentenko, June 30, 2009.
He then flipped an under-performing Higgins a half season later into Brandon Prust.

Re: The official NHL thread
My only solace with this crappy year by the Habs is watching the Leafs fade and likely miss the playoffs AGAIN. I called it before the season - no goaltending.
Even funnier is watching Burke desperately try to swing deals and being turned down time and time again, because Kadri, Schenn, Gardiner, et al are B-level prospects at best.
I'll take the Habs young nucleas of Price, Subban/Emelin, and Pacioretty/Desharnais, over the Leafs core, any day.

So the Panthers can make it. 2-0 down to Carolina

I wouldn't they are starting to suck. Just going through a rough patch. They will make the playoffs and be a match for most teams.Anne_Thrax wrote:

To answer by own questions:
Your favourite player atm? Kesler, although he's not having the best of seasons.
And your favourite player who doesn't play on your team? Malkin, so glad this guy is back from injury and lighting up the NHL.
And your least favourite player (i assume this player won't be on the team you support)? Lucic

There are only so many sides to Kostitsyn to Nashville or Aulie to Tampa!
Speaking of busts - anyone who's spent time in a dressing room can figure out that Andrei Kostitsyn was nicknamed "tits" or "titty". When Sergei Kostitsyn was also here they were "big tits" and little tits". All this to say that Nashville is now in possession of big tits AND little tits.

Not sure what they gave up yet and these seem like more depth moves but the Bruins have acquired
Brian Rolston and Mike Mottau from the Islanders and
Greg Zanon from the Wild.
Nothing has been officially announced yet.

Guy just went from coming into his own for a Cup contender to being dealt to a non-playoff team. I think he's better off long term though. Derek Roy likely won't be back in Buffalo, and Hogdson will likely wind up being a top 2 center there.alecjonsludge wrote:Cody Hodgson, being phone interviewed on TSN, sounds like he wants to commit suicide.
I guess the 'Nucks wanted to bring mini-Lucic on board. I get it though. They have skill; they needed more grit.
Re: The official NHL thread
HBO Real Sports aired a segment on the Russian Hockey team that was killed when a Russian plane crashed about a year or so ago.
I don't follow hockey, but I watch this program every month.
That Russian hockey league spent all the money on signing the players, but they left very little money to use on transportation.
The plane in the crash featured a pilot/co-pilot that were not trained properly.
The company who owned the plane had approximately 14 severe safety violations on file.
The hockey league was aware, and still chose to do nothing about the situation.

Kassian is 2 years away from being a beast.Great entry level pick up, but in 2 years he too will most likely be forced out, especially if the Canucks want to resign Burrows long term.

I'm done, bro. I tried to get back into them the last few years but it';s futile. i actually think Garth is a decent GM, but he is a a just a puppet. Also, I can handle losing, but being pushed around by the habs, Lightning and Aves is something I cannot handle.Tommy wrote:NeverSurrender wrote:Fuck you Wang and Snow.

The isles have nystrom and Gillies's number hanging from the raftes. They've always prided themselves on being tough, but this year's team is pathetically soft. Our coach and GM both fought as players, it can't be their fault.

I don't think it's quite Naslund/Stojonov; Kassian has more skill than that. It's an iffy deal, but hasn't Hogdson also been at odds with the 'Nucks organization over the years as well? Something with the diagnosis and treatement of his back injury a year or two ago?Kid-Wicked wrote: way too early to judge this trade but i think they overpayed for this guy. on the surface it looks like naslund for stojonav.
