Yeah,
lame fight.
It cracks me up fighters that are wrestling based even towards end of fight when its obvious they are losing they still try for a take down thinking that will win them the fight.
Those last two rounds were awful.
Although I will say (except for the Swede) Jones will beat a fighter at their game. Cormier is all about "embracing the grind". Jones did that & won.
Overall a lame night of fights except the Cowboy Cerrone fight.
Jury bit off way more than he could chew, and got his ass handed
to him.

I thought the fight was 2 to 2 going into the final round. Not sure where the 49 46 came from. I said earlier, Jones eats up the shorter guys. Once Jones is in their with guys his size, his length advantage is nullified. I don't see Anthony Johnson being able to get around that. As far as LHW's, i only give a chance to Gustaffson.

As an aside, Daniel didn't look healthy going into this fight IMO. he looked gaunt. I have a feeling he was sick which is why he probably gassed in the 4th. Overall, it was not a great night of fights. But, that's the way it goes....sometimes they are great sometimes not so much, oh well.

You know, it was when he got poked in the eye in the 3rd & there was that brief time out. Not because of the eye poke, but it seemed Cormier was doing his thing & because of that break, his energy took a dump. Because like you said from 4th on he was done.

And Jones has got to be one of the sorest winners ever.

First few round of the main event were good but the last two were meh. The rest of the fights were a snooze-fest. I was hoping for better.

Looking forward to seeing Silva get back to form and beating up Diaz. Also looking forward to the inevitable moments in a Diaz fight where Diaz is losing and taunts his opponent to try to get them to do something stupid, and it totally fails.

What got me was all the hype all the talk & when the fight ends,
they run out of time on ppv & had to cut the interviews & commentary
short with only Jones making a quick comment.

They fucked up by promoting the mcgregor fight and giving him a 10 minute interview... And all the fights went the distance

Cormier was too slow and he obviously gassed. That being said he showed in the 2nd round the template to beat Jones for shorter fighters.

Yeah,
when all go distance it makes for such a long night.
Boy, Danny Castillo sure got knocked out into yesterday didn't he?

Did you see the girl fight on Fight Pass?
Damn, that was rough to watch. When
Joe Rogan starts saying in 2nd rd this fight
should be stopped you know you got problems.

While I fucking love to see Cerrone fight, and I think he's even more badass for taking a fight on 2 weeks notice 2 days after he just fought, but Ben seemed to have his number in the WEC days; I think this might put the brakes on Cerrone's title run.

Maybe, but I think Cerrone is in a different & better place with his fighting.
He's added that front kick that works really well for him.
It's too bad Jury didn't want to fight the other night.
I've never seen a fighter so scared to engage.

The card for Boston has already taken two hits.
Uriah Hall has a new opponent & now Henderson.
What's next?

UFC champion Jon Jones announces he's entered a drug treatment facility.

Cocaine is a hell of a drug apparently.

I have UFC Fight Pass & love watching past events.
Boy, the UFC was sure making Kenny Florian their
golden boy. He got so much love & opportunity for
being such an average fighter.
Ken Flo or whatever his nickname was, whatever!!
However, like him a lot as a commentator for the fights
so it all works out in the end I suppose.

one thing I've always wondered about fight pass, can you watch the full pride events? I know they mute entrance music but that's ok but I would love to watch those spectacles again. not just the fights

now they're also adding the full.pancrase library...

I believe so.
There's a total of 63 event replays for Pride.

Yeah,
adding a boat load of other organizations in the coming months.

Yeah, Siver was a tomato can being a lamb given to slaughter, but
McGregor is the real deal. Should be an interesting fight with Aldo.

I laughed out loud when the Cerrone/Henderson decision was announced.
Henderson thought he had in the bag, I guess not. But then again, how
many fights has Henderson won that could have gone the other way,,,
plenty!!

Other than that, the other fights were worthless & of no importance
whatsoever.

If anyone is kicking themselves for not seeing Sundays fights, don't. Whatever you were doing, taking a shit, jacking it, sleeping, whatever it was, I can assure you, was way more exciting than last nights card.

Yeah, you saw Cerrone give an apologetic shrug when the decision was announced. I was surprised it wasn't a split decision.

I hope Aldo beats the fuck outta McGregor. What a dick move, jumping out of the octagon like that. I'm sure that gave Dana a massive hard-on, though, thinking about the PPV dollars rolling in.

Henderson really didn't do anything other than that one side kick he did through out the fight.
Cerrone/Henderson fight should have been tagged as a 5 rounder.
3 rounds was definitely not enough.
McGregor destroyed Siver much like Jon Jones destroyed Shogun Rua, Rampage, Machida, etc etc.
Does the Swede beat Johnson next weekend?

Anybody watch the Swede vs Rumble fight?
Wow! Gus was hurt from the first punch
that Johnson landed. And mean of the fight, not
the punch (although it did big time) after the
eye poke stoppage. I think he was already hurt.
Rumble vs Bones. That's going to be something!
How is Jones going to counter Rumble's power?

He is a beast. Jones should be worried. I saw the Henderson (non) fight. What was the rest of the card like?

Agghh, just okay.
The Davis/Bader fight was what you would expect. Both fighters cancelled each other out & was not entertaining at all.

My big problem with the Fox fights is ALL the commercials. I understand in between fights, but the in between round breaks kill any momentum. And you always get when they come back from commercial the announcer repeating what was said in each fighter's corner.

Being the UFC has so many events these days I have come to the conclusion that every card will have 2 maybe 3 entertaining fights, and
the rest just blaah. And that's what happened last night.

I prefer to see Johnson fight Jones. The fight between Gus & Jones was something special. No way would they be able to replicate or come close to matching what happened in the first fight. Much more intrigue with Jones/Johnson. Should be fun.

I think Jones will be shitting himself.Johnson is the Mike Tyson of MMA.
Power with great accuracy.

If he gets away the type of punches Cormier landed against Jones, I think Jones is in trouble.

Look for Jones to make this a wrestling match.

I agree.
Johnson's uppercuts are pin point on the money.
Jones can turn it in to wrestling match, but Johnson is strong
as an ox & he is no slouch. He rag dolled Phil Davis & Davis is
supposed to be an elite wrestler.

To me it boils down to can Johnson penetrate that 84 inch reach of Jones? I mean I think Jones is a total dick but man is he special as he essentially beats you at whatever you try and beat him at. I mean Rumble can beat him if he hits him clean or near clean, my concern is he'll get to anxious, say "fuck it",rush in and eat one of those wacky elbows and it's over. Who before the Cormier fight thought Jones would take Cormier down once let alone five times?!!

Earl

Oh he does but man Jones just seems to be able to beat you at what you are good at which amazes me. I mean I would have bet the house if someone said Jones would take Cormier down 5 times.
