Two backs whose careers got cut way too short: Bo Jackson and Billy Sims.
And another who cut his own short, Jim Brown, that dude was a Beast, Ricky Williams according to Brown had the best tools He ever saw in a RB, Brown said something to the effect that Williams was rare in that He was so big but could make the moves of a smaller back, He of course cut his own career short as well in the prime of his career.
Speaking of great All time RB's wheres everyone rank LT, fell pretty fast but for a stretch there He looked primed to possibly become the GOAT.
I think Barry Sanders is in talks as greatest of all time if he didn't retire early. Hell, he's in that talk anyway.
One of my other favorites that got cut short: Gale Sayers. I was too young to have seen anything live, but man, some of the videos I have seen. Amazingly graceful runner.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter
Roger Goodell said NFL is exploring the idea of expanding the playoffs from 12 to 14 or 16 teams. Good idea?
Doesn't this POS have enough things to "commish" so he can stop fucking with this game? Does he know it was great before he showed up. Jesus Christ, dude. Just stop already.

i was expecting this. since Concussions are making so much news, the idea to expand the regular season from 16 to 18 games has been put on hold.
obviously the league and owners have no interest in decreasing the number of pre-season games from 4 to 2, so here comes Plan C.
expand the playoffs + more games=more revenue!
What the ignorant and fat folks don't understand is that Roger works for the owners. His job is to push forward THEIR agenda. If the owners collectively want a longer playoff, Roger will become the face of that idea and try to push it forward. So while the ignorant nobodies will rant against him on places like Twitter and Sludge, what they don't realize is that it means nothing. They should be writing to the owners instead.

And tweeting the commissioner and complaining on sludge will?

Begging for Bret's cock on sludge isn't going to get it for you, but that hasn't stopped you yet.
That's funny, tubby. Don't change the subject just because you didn't know Gooddell doesn't really call the shots. Reminds me of that time you didn't know what a rookie salary cap was, or that Robert Irsay no longer owns the Colts.

Fuck You Roger!
Remember all the uproar when the 7-9 Seahawks won their division a few years back? Well, 7-9 will be rather normal with another expansion of the playoffs.

If the NFL wants more money they need to buy out the AFL. Let practice squad members and other exceptions play and have games March thru May with maybe two a week televised on the NFL network and the rest free streaming. charge maybe 20 to 40 dollars for tickets.
Like minor league baseball, It wouldn't solve everything but it could still make a profit.
Why is Brandon Marshall poking the bear? Literally.
:25PM EST December 12. 2012 - LAKE FOREST, Ill. – It has been nearly three months since the Green Bay Packers held Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall to two catches for 24 yards in Week 2.
Marshall has been counting the days to this week's NFC North rematch ever since. At his Wednesday news conference, Marshall called Sunday's game against Green Bay the "biggest game of my career."
It also is one Marshall said he is taking "personal" because he feels Green Bay players, particularly cornerback Tramon Williams and safety Charles Woodson, disrespected him and his teammates, including quarterback Jay Cutler, in September. Green Bay won that first meeting 23-10 at Lambeau Field.
"I don't like the Green Bay Packers. I'm not going to use the word 'hate,' but I really dislike the Packers and their players," Marshall said. "But you know what? The talk has to back it up. We'll go out there and do everything we have to do to get a win."

Good. The NFL is too nice these days with the prayers and hugs.
"When I see guys huddling up after the game, to pray, that's what scares me about the game. I'm a Baptist, but I'm also a quarterback killer, and I ain't praying with you. But I will give you 30 seconds to ask your Lord and master to keep me from killing you." -- Hall of Fame defensive end "Deacon" Jones on what aspect of the modern game most upsets him.

The Chicago bears are slowly killing their playoff chances.

He fell off, for sure, but the even though stats aren't everything, his are just too good to rank him 'just another good back'.
No matter how fast he dropped, he did as much work in 10 years as anyone. 5th all time in attempts and yardage (and that's not counting receptions), and he was a scoring machine almost without parallel (averaging over 20tds a season rushing/receiving over one five year stretch. In fact, when you consider how much he fell off from 2008 to 2011 shows how amazing he was from 2001 - 2007.
I'm not making a case for GOAT, or even top 5, but no way was he "Just another good back".
