This is rather surprising. No discussions about JJ's latest legal woes, being stripped of the LHW title, & placed on an indefinite suspension? Okay.

He's had plenty of chances to right his stupid wrongs.
After testing positive for cocaine he should have been dumped.
If he never comes back, I won't miss him.
However I was so looking forward to his fight against Johnson.
The one thing I give Jones serious credit for is his ability to beat another fighter at their game. It seems he does that in every fight.
Cormier was the right choice. He's a stand up guy & a hell of a fighter. Besides who else would they give it to? Ryan Bader? Yeah, right!

A very enjoyable night of fight's last night. A couple of surprises for me.

Anyone else get the vibe that Rumble Johnson is gay? I just get that vibe and then I saw that his mouthguard is pink!
I tought it was silly of DC to challenge Jones like that. Jones has already proved that he can take DC apart 7 days a week.

Then Phil Davis must be gay because he wears pink trunks.
Not dumb at all, DC has the belt & JJ will be serving time before he ever gets a whiff of the belt ever again.
And who wants to see a Ryan Bader for the belt fight? Not me!!
The prelims sucked big time but the ppv definitely made up for it.
Belfort had absolutely nothing once it got to the ground.
Did you see the move that Weidman made to get it to the ground?
That was top notch right there!
And how crazy was the Browne/Arlovski fight?
Loved that backhand punch Arlovski used.
Of all the predictions I read, not one predicted Arlovski was going to win.
Good for him!!

Nah. I'm just saying, I got that vibe during the pre-fight videos and his entrance...... and then I saw the pink mouthguard. I'm not convinced, I just got that vibe from him.yeahbuddy wrote:FullDJacket wrote:Anyone else get the vibe that Rumble Johnson is gay? Who is the tall guy who coached both Belfort and Rumble? Is that Andrew Spang from Bellator?

Anyone watch the fights last night?
Dang, I've never seen a card where so many fighters were gassed by the 2nd rd.
Cain looked terrible b/t the 1st & 2nd.
You think he would have done what Verdum did & move his camp to Mexico at least a month before to adjust to altitude.

The chick fight was boring but the rest were good. Funny seeing Cain looking so helpless. Great to see Alvarez get the win after a tough first round. That's what fight sports is about.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Why is it that everytime Cain Velasquez lose a fight, he has the perfect excuse that media swallows?
When he lost against JDS he was injured. Now it was the high altitude.
What is it going to be next time? When Roy Nelson(or hunt or arlovski) knocks him the fuck out? He forgot to use lotion after shaving? Some fucking brown pride there.

LMFAO @ altitude excuse. Was his opponent fighting at sea level? Fat drunk and stupid is no way to go through life.

If this is all Bellator has to offer, I'm not interested.
Although I will say that was one hell of a come back from that Pitbull guy.

Anybody watch the Fightpass fights?
That Jedrzejczyk girl is something else. I don't think there is anyone in that division that can beat her. Maybe the one girl that lost to her in a split decision, but that's about it.
She reminds me of a smaller version of Cyborg.

For a guy that was the supposed "pound for pound" greatest fighter, Barao looked rather ordinary.... again.
And who really wants to see Rousey/Tate III?
I would rather see Tate/Zingano II or as Tate has asked for Tate vs Cyborg.

Just caught the TJ/Barao fight...
Barao has no business at 135 anymore. That weight cut is gonna kill him. He was done after the first round. TJ was talking about fighting Mighty Mouse a while ago. TJ has good movement, but MM is on a different level. He just does not stop at all and he's fast as hell. TJ has more power but he has to catch up to MM which I don't think he'll do.
I doubt the Miesha/ Ronda fight will happen. I am leaning towards after this next fight, Ronda will finally fight Justino, and will call it a career. I don't think she wants to continue fighting and risking losing which will diminish her out of ring sellability.

What gets me is if Jessica Eye wins last she was next in line against Ronda. Last night she showed me absolutely nothing to be competitive against Rousey. It would have ended just like the last 10 Rousey fights.
Dana White said Tate is next in line, but I think he's going to hear all the chatter that nobody wants to see a third fight & the Cyborg/Rousey fight happens.
Damn, I wish Dominick Cruz could stay healthy.
A healthy Cruz vs Dillashaw, jeeeeez what a sick fight!

It's hype machine guys like Joe Rogan, Dave Meltzer, Helwani who used to claim that Barao was top 3 pound for pound.yeahbuddy wrote:For a guy that was the supposed "pound for pound" greatest fighter, Barao looked rather ordinary.... again.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Have you ever noticed with every event Joe Rogan finds one little thing early on, and keeps referring to it over and over again. He did again on Saturday. I forget what it was, but he mentioned something during the Fight Pass fights, and kept at it all night.
And is this Rousey fight a weak card or what? The prelims are decent, but that main card is weak. The only decent fight is that women's straw weight fight. Other than that, Shogun is done. Struve fights never last more than 2 minutes. Bigfoot has made it a regular habit of getting ko'd. And the Rousey fight speaks for itself. If they cut out all the fluff & stuff to make it a longer production this ppv could be over in an hour.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
UFC must know they have some ppv stinkers coming up.
I got an email from UFC Fight Pass today asking to take a short
survey & will receive 10% off an upcoming ppv.
I've already got two ppvs locked & loaded & do not plan on using
either this weekend or the Mighty Mouse fight.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I'm actually watching the live WSOF live event as opposed to the UFC PPV, cause we know Rousey will win anyway.
Bas Rutten is the worse commentator ever. He makes it almost unwatchable.
Every 5 seconds, he says "He should do this" "Now he should do that" There is basically dead silence from the crowd during the fights.
I've never seen WSOF before tonight. Don't know that there will be a next time.

if that was the best opponent for ronda i can see her retiring and going to wwe.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Ronda is a cash cow for Dana. As long as she stays like that, she's not going to lose.

Funny how with each fight they sell that particular fighter as her "toughest to date" & sell it really well. Unfortunately ALL of these other fighters are good not great at one thing while Rousey is very good/great at 3 or 4 things.
Its at a point of not will Ronda be challenged, but when she will finish the other fighter.
Same thing when Mike Tyson was in his prime.
I would rather see a Meisha Tate vs Cyborg fight (Meisha said she would do it). Or a Tate vs Zingano 2 & the winner fight Ronda. Of all the fighters I think has a chance against her is Zingano, but she went in with such a stupid game plan it was embarrassing.

How else are they supposed to "sell" the fight? " The odds are 12 to 1 and this chick hasn't fought a top 10 opponent...please give us your money!"
They did the same thing with George St. Pierre, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Mahammad Ali etc. It's all part of the fight game.
The fact of the matter is, is that this chick beat two of Ronda's friend's and said some implied shit about Ronda's father. Bam! That sells a fight. Remember when no one gave a fuck about the McMann fight because McMann did absolutely zero to sell the fight. We can all pretend that we want MMA to be a sport where title shots are earned and such but people don't spend money on the PPV's for those fights.
Ronda is right, why should she have to budge an inch for somebody that was busted cheating? Cyborg has been saying for the 2 years she has been with Invicta that she would drop to 35 there. It's been two years and she hasn't made a single attempt. It's on her to make the fight, not the biggest star in MMA.
