And while their quest for a wild card is really cute, the Redskins are in FIRST PLACE and two wins away from our first division title since 1999.
Great time to be a Skins fan. I guess I've learned you should never give up, even when you are 3-6.
Meanwhile our backup qb 4th round draft pick looks like he's worth a 2nd right now. Maybe a 1st by next year. Did I underestimate Shanahan?

Redskins are legit. Mike Shanahan is going to cement his legacy with a ring or two with RGIII.

richardson looked OK (though he was outplayed by 6th round rookie Alfred Morris but Weedon didn't look good at all. He overthrew his receivers all day and had a couple bad INTs. Honestly, I'm not sold on Weeden or Shurmur so this loss isn't that bad a thing for me. With a three game win streak coming into today the Cleveland press and the orange and brown kool-aid drinkers were making a case for Shurmur and Weeden to stick around with the new owner and new CEO. I think today will shut them up. Wait until the Broncos destroy them next week.Crazy Levi wrote:richardson looked OK (though he was outplayed by 6th round rookie Alfred Morris but Weedon didn't look good at all. Re: NFL 2012 Thread
Frustrating game today, because once again we should have won the game, but beat ourselves with stupid plays and baffling decisions. We gave em the freakin game and did not deserve to win. Two plays lost the game for us; fumbling on 2nd and goal from the 1, and the blocked punt TD. I blame the coaching staff for the fumble. Mewelde Moore shouldn't be playing in the NFL, much less given the ball on the 1 yard line. Totally baffling and inexcusable, especially when Ballard was running like a beast all day. I hope Moore is released tomorrow, he has not done diddly poo all year other than hurt us.
The blocked punt, what can you say, rookie mistake. We outplayed the Texans but could not overcome those two massively disastrous plays. Also, protection for Luck was once again horrendous and beyond pathetic. We won't win any games in the playoffs unless we somehow improve protection, but I'm not sure we have the personnel to do it. I'm more worried about Andrew Luck getting hurt behind that pathetic excuse of a line.
As for the Texans, good for them. They were in the gutter for ten years. Let them enjoy a division title before we send them back to the gutter for another ten years.
They're going nowhere in the playoffs, anyways.

RogerLeaf III goes down and misses game, Redskins IMPROVE.
Kirk Cousins throws for 329 yards and two TDs. When has Griffith ever thrown for that many yards? Oh yeah, NEVER... in his entire pro career.
The question has to be asked, is Griffith holding the Skins back, and is there a QB controversy in Wash? Something tells me the Skins coaches will decide again next week that RG3 is still "hurt" and can't play.

Adrian Peterson less than one year after acl/mcl injury he now only needs 294 yards to set the all time NFL rushing record.

So the Redskins have TWO rookie QBs better than Andrew Leaf, who leads the league in INTs.
I'm trying to figure out why that's supposed to insult a Skins fan

Is anybody really surprised the Colts lost today? Their cupcake schedule and some lucky breaks has helped them stay alive in the wild card hunt, but they aren't for real. If they do back into the playoffs, they'll lose - badly - on the road to whomever they face.
Redskins - in First Place in the NFC East - have bigger fish to fry.

Uhm, no. The fact that Cousins could come and throw for 329 yards shows that when a Mike Shannahan offense is firing on all cylinders, "it doesn't matter who's driving the Cadillac," to paraphrase Bubby Brister. Of course P13 will have to wiki Bubby Brister.poizond13 wrote:RogerLeaf III goes down and misses game, Redskins IMPROVE.Kirk Cousins throws for 329 yards and two TDs. cousins did not look sharp at all at the start of the game. But he started to get comfortable and pick it up. Couldn't be more impressed.
RG3 needs to start next week. Division title is at stake. Take him out early if you have to but he's gotta start, and play smart.
But we got TWO excellent rookie QBs under contract - CHEAP - for 3 years. Couldn't be happier with that situation. In year three, trade Cousins for a first-rounder.

Cousins plays like that every time he's called upon and he'll be sought after like Flynn, Cassell, Bono, Young, et. al. Even if he winds up being a bust as a starter somewhere else, he'll be reaping some serious $$$$$$$$.Crazy Levi wrote:cousins did not look sharp at all at the start of the game. So let me get this straight, cause I'm still a little drunk.
Is P13's big "angle" this week that Kirk Cousins is better than RG3? That the Redskins - who he - and *I* - predicted would be in the gutter - are in first place and have two rookie of the year candidates behind center?
Err, ok. Touche, I guess. I really have no comeback for those "insults."

Rg3 had a better week than Luck and he didn't even play.

Re: NFL 2012 Thread
Congrats to the Texans for their second consecutive AFC South title. That was the first Colts game I've watched this year. Their running back was impressive and their defense was much better than expected. Their QB Looked very pedestrian. Minus the one blown coverage 70 yard TD, he didnt do much of anything all game. JJ Watt was a monster. I'll bet Luck has nightmares about him.
