Kane is definitely the real deal. Toews will be one of the most important players for Team Canada in 2014 provided the NHL is still involved.

I'm trying my best to convince myself that losing a game might be the best thing for Canada. The U.S. can go all the way if Miller keeps this up

Awesome game. That flurry, after Canada had made it 4-3, and before Kesler scored the empty netter (play the puck Perry, you fuckwad), might have been the best minute or so of hockey I've ever seen played. Miller was incredible all night and the difference maker in the game.

I won't jump all over our team. They played a great game, generated a lot of chances, made some mistakes which the US capitalized on, and basically got beat by a hot goalie. We knew this tournament would come down to goaltending. We were going to have to go through Russia and Sweden anyways, now it will just be a bit earlier than anticipated. Playing the extra game might be what they need to work the kinks out.

For what it's worth:

- Luongo gets the net and stays in as long as he plays well
- Babcock has to keep his lines together, have a long talk with his veterans, and make sure he doesn't get outcoached
- Canada needs to work on faceoffs and getting in front of the opposing teams net. Brodeur had an American ass in his face all night - I don't know if we made Miller's existance as misreable

Bold prediction. The US will win one more game, and then lose a game they shouldn't in the semis and fuck this whole thing up. Not wishing it on them - I'd love a rematch - but I have a feeling they'll lose to the Czechs or Finns in the semis.

Canada has had more stength and skill(goaltending aside) in every game so far, however they have been out "x'd and o'd",so to speak.(No time out at the 1:06 mark ?)The Swiss game is another prime example. They had a definite gameplan and it worked through regulation and ot,albeit they needed great goaltending as well. That's the other thing, in past international tournaments,Canada was almost always assured to have the better goaltending, but in this tournament every team has legitimate, outstanding goaltending.Long gone are the days of Hardy Astrom.

Not too panicked just yet though.Like McKenzie said last night, switch the goalies and this game is a rout for Team Canada. It was pretty concerning to see the score 2-1 for the U.S and the shots on net 17-5 for Canada. But Brodeur is not alone in blame...Pronger and Niedermayer both looked old and slow, and Thorton looked uninspired.Too many penalties and a bad PP( Mike Green and Steve Stamkos....where are you?) also lent a hand in this defeat.

Luongo gets the start,Brodeur is done.He had two chances to stake his claim and played below expectations and capabilities both times.Rewarding past success' is not an option at this point.

Oh well, maybe you can start a baseball team and try beating the USA at that sport.

I'd love to watch Canada lose both the men's and woman's hockey to the US just because they're so fucking obsessed and act like they deserve it.

Canada has a tough road.

- They should (read: better) beat the Germans tonight
- They would need to go through the Russians, with no time to rest, on Wednesday
- They would then likely match-up with the Swedes, in the semis, on Friday
- If, big IF, they make it that far, they'd likely get one of Finland, the US, or Czech Republic in the final

Three games if four days, against quality opponents, is a tall order for anyone - especially when you play a physical style.

The US upset of Canada was HUGE for the US, as it put all the "powers" of the tournament - Canada, Russia, and Sweden - one one side of the bracket, with the US being on the other side with the Finns and Czechs (and Switzerland et al).

The US earned the road Canada had hoped to have. Or should I say Ryan Miller earned it.

If Canada gets by Germany, look for Pronger,Niedermayer and Boyle to place reduced minutes against Russia. The turnovers they commited against the U.S were horrible, but against the likes of Ovechkin,Malkin,et al.,they would be fatal. Their lack of speed and mobility(Pronger,Niedermayer) would also be a major hinderance against the speed and skill of the Russians.

Not liking Babcock changing the lines yet again. Staal,Iginla,Crosby and Perry,Getzlaf,Nash are his two new combinations.Christ,if Canada wanted a coach that switched line combos every day they should've hired Michel Therrien,at least he's got expierence with Crosby.I understand the need to get Nash "going", but if he can't go with Crosby, how the hell do you expect him to perform with Getzlaf and Perry, both of whom have underperformed?

The sure have a sense of entitlement when it comes to trying to get the Coyotes back on Canadian soil or an NHL team in the Hamilton/Windsor areas.

waaaaaay different. The dollar aint what it used to be so it aint a a question of who can support a team. And when Nashville, florida and the coyotes are limping around its hard to see the other side in Canada.

I agree. Completely different ball of wax. Canadians don't act like they deserve it as much as they realize how successful it would actually be for those franchises to be located. Lets be real, those above mentioned franchises barely have any support. If it wasn't for the other teams helping them financially, they'd be completely fucked. Hell, I was pissed off that Minnesota lost their team. The fact that Phoenix had a team when Minnesota, arguably the hockey hotbed of the U.S. did not, was just deplorable.

There isn't a sense of entitlement, it's a sense of reality. Some Canadian cities that do not have franchises would be more successful than some of the ones that do. And they would be more successful than relocating within the U.S. save for perhaps Portland and Seattle. And even those two would not be sure things whatsoever

Support? It would fucking help if the NHL had a decent TV contract and promoted the stupid sport, coverage is total shit and it shows in over all interest. The most hockey one can watch is on sportscenter. I like hockey but after not being able to catch the first round with the Rangers last year I gave up trying...Again.

NBC is headed up by a bunch of mentally retarded fuck ups. Their treatment of hockey is disgusting. Seriously, in what world does hockey come behind sports like bowling and Nascar in terms of popularity in the States? The Canada/U.S. game from a few nights ago was more entertaining than any basketball, football, or baseball game all year. As far as I'm concerned, that's not me being bias, that's just fucking logical.

To all you Americans in this thread, is there any serious mention at all at the success of the U.S. team on any major stations? That sniveling Jew Gary Bettman can go lick a dog's shitty asshole. I'm still convinced he's conspiring with David Stern

Sure, it's been all over the place and I think it's been good for hockey. The most popular sport from the Olympics in the US on television is the figure skating and ice dancing, and that is usually the prime time showing. All of the hockey games have been on CNBC or MSNBC, although they did cut away from the figure skating to show USA/Canada towards the end of the game. The medal rounds will be shown on NBC.

Speaking of coverage, last night Mike Milbury said that Germany looked like a punch of fire hydrants and Canada was pissing on them. The broadcasting crew looked shocked and they went to a commercial.

How about Weber's shot? Holy rocket.
