how does one go about getting rid of a belly?

will a ton of sit-ups do the trick? how many a day/week?

relevant data:
I dont drink beer and dont eat a lot of junk food, but I do fall for fast food once or twice a week

Try to limit it to once per week, if you have to have it.

If you have to have pop, get diet pop and don't get mayonnaise.

If you can avoid fries/rings/chicken nuggets, even better.

A couple of cheeseburgers minus mayo is ok. It's when you add a fried side, mayo, and pop (or whatever other sugar beverage they have) that it starts to really get bad.

Situps will help, but cardio is the key.

gyvren...do a google search for HIIT (high intensity interval training).

i had been hovering around 11% bodyfat for years...started doing that and now im at 8.5% bf.

just started doing core work again and the 6 pack is already starting to show nicely for the summer.

the only other advice i would add is to make sure you are getting at least 1-2gm of protein per lb of body weight. whey protein shakes are your friend (i love the optimum nutrition brand).

these 2 sites are MUST have bookmarks (IMO).

https://www.tfsupplements.com/ <<< cheapest prices i have found for supps.

and

http://www.thedailyplate.com/ <<< EXCELLENT site for tracking your diet.

He's trying to lose pounds.

So what is it about the others you don't like, the foamy bloat, or do you find the clumps to be icky ?

LOL

Strawberry with cranraspberry juice, a banana and some crushed ice makes a dandy treat. Or, instead of crushed ice, toss in some frozen raspberries.

I just was timed this past summer and the times are now 4.53, 10.91.

Sucks to be aging, but then, I also weigh 55 pounds more than I did in my early-mid 20s so that's how I rationalize it.

P.S. I pretend to myself that it is not age, in spite of the fact my times improved as my weight increased, before they started to drop off. :)

What are you, like forty or something? That's still pretty good, especially considering that too much muscle mass can hamper your speed and explosiveness past a certain point.

Whey is great first thing in the morning or post workout, but other options are better in-between meals. Micellar casein, for example. But I don't think he should start buying every supplement in the market right now anyway.

LOL

Almost 36.

Luckily I didn't bulk up in a shitty way.

Not to mention, when I was younger, I didn't really work out. I played football, hockey, baseball, track n field.

One of my jobs through jr high and sr high was pulling a rickshaw because it was cash, and lots of it - during the summer months (tourist season) I worked 10pm-10am.

Great hours.

From about 10 pm-midnight, you had the crowd just coming from theatres/plays wanting a ride wherever, or a night time tour in the open air.

From midnight until around 4 am you had the bar crowd, and few people pay better than a bunch of drunk guys wanting to go for rides with chicks, all the while trying to impress them by throwing money around to their servants of the moment - it was not uncommon to get a $50 bill thrown at me for taking them 2 blocks, from the bar to the chinese food restaurant. You also had the people who wanted you to wait. waiting meant giving up fares, so they'd throw another wad of cash at you to be back in x amount of minutes, so I'd run off, do another couple of fares, then come back. And best of all - they gave you a wad of cash just to come back then they'd give you another fare when you did come back. Getting $150 to haul some guy and his night whore 2 blocks, come back around 45 minutes later and haul them 2 more blocks was very common. We're talking 10 minutes work, total.

And, of course, you had the drunks who kept wads of cash in their pockets and didn't realize some fell out while they were digging.

From around 4 am - 5 am there was a bit of a lull, at which point I'd run to the store and grab a gatorade.

From 5 am until around 8 am you had the seniors getting up and going for breakfast. And not just any seniors - tourist seniors, most of whom were Americans, with loads of retirement money to spend and they were always amazingly generous. Plus, the exchange rate was huge in those days.

Then, from around 8-930 I'd do a guided city tour for tourists. At 930, I'd make my way home, sometimes giving people a lift if it was on the way.

Of course, I am sure you realize, pulling a rickshaw is TREMENDOUS exercise. Even when I expanded it, I still kept my routes because the exercise was amazing and, well, I'd rather do some hauling on one cart and make a shitload of cash instead of giving it up to another of my friends for a percentage.

However, I was a scrawny, wiry waif. Ripped to shreds, but still scrawny and wiry.

When I graduated high school and did the oil gig for years, I packed on a bit of muscle, but not too much, because I couldn't really commit to a workout routine thus no proper diet. Plus, the goal was live humble, live lean, live inconvenienced, in the interest of long term gains ie usually around 10 people rent a giant house and split the cost - horribly inconvenient in the moment, but $150-200 per month, as opposed to $1,500 per month, for several years, adds up to a lot of $$ saved. A small price to pay for never getting much rest.

My 3 years in the military was a lot more of the same.

I didn't really pack on size until I packed up, moved back close to home, bought my company and was able plant roots and stock up on the proper foods, supplements etc etc.

Luckily, even as a shit-thin 150 pound high school waif, I learned that proper form when running can shave up to a half second off your time.

Add in some good muscle mass to the equation and then you have someone who is faster at age 31 than he was at 21.

Now, I don't know how old you are, or if you live in an area that is touristy, but if you are and do, rickshawing is a pretty sweet gig for a young person - you get paid an obscene amount of money to get in freakishly good shape.

Shit, that's gotta be a better workout than, say, tire dragging, and you get paid to boot.

I do live in a touristic place, and there would be virtually no competition, but I'm 31, and lazier than ever. Even though I workout I can't stand physical jobs. I never even picked up clams back when it was easy money around here, so I don't think I'll be rickshawing anytime soon.

Besides, my conditioning is not that good right now, I would probably die the first day. I gotta start doing more cardio and cut on the smoking.

Start cardio now.

Get a FEW rickshaws.

Until you get up to speed, you can stick to walking tours.

Rent out your other ones to kids for a percentage, perhaps give them %30 of what they make.

I will assume you have a real job now, so I am not suggesting you quit that, because rickshawing is a direct transaction gig and can't be counted on to be full income.

I was doing it as a primary source of income because from ages 12-17, there's no worry about "having a bad week".

What I am about to say is just a guess because I obviously haven't been involved in the game for a while, but I would think now, more than ever, rickshaws would be popular. The reason I think that ? More than ever, more and more people are buying into the global warming scam and people are becoming obsessed with their "carbon footprint"; I would think the Warmers would much prefer taking a rickshaw to a cab, when possible.

It's funny you would mention that.
A few weeks ago I was driving and I passed by this gypsie's typical mule car. But instead of a bunch of gypsies, the car was packed with blond people, other than the gypsy chauffeur.

Now they weren't those dark skinned with blond hair gypsies you see, they weren't even blond portuguese people, they were clearly foreign people with really pale skin, like finnish or norwegian.

That was a bit confusing at the moment, but your post is making me think those guys already figured that out and are making some money off those hippies.
