A school that is only traveling to the mighty powerhouse school because of the payday.
Soooooo....exactly how do you explain Alabama vs Michigan, 2 top 10 ranked teams, playing out of conference in a neutral location? I guess that was just a freak happening?

Again, I will say it slowly for those who dont hear fast...ALL SPORTS ARE ABOUT MONEY...if they werent, there would be no real reason to play. Want proof...look no further than this little school in Texas..$750,000 high school scoreboard. Now, why do you think a high school and its town be willing to absorb that type of expenditure? Yes, its off-set by selling ads, but the town still agreed to a tax hike to help get it built. Maybe its the 3 year championship run the school has had...or maybe its because this school is a funnel school for the State of Texas` collegiate football programs..Texas, Texas A&M. Texas Tech and Baylor?
demolition23 wrote: True, but the NFL has a cap and is ultimately more balanced across 30 teams than the college game is IMO.
Seems to me, it would be quite easier to enact a salary cap that was fair if you were only dealing with 30 teams as the NFL is. Now, try to do that with just the NCAA Division 1 schools that sport a football team...all 127 or so of them. Theres no way you can make this argument sanely. There is absolutely no way for a University to be level across the board with all 126 or so other schools...fanbase, student admissions, location, facilities...all these things come into play, and as such can never be "equal." Look at my home state of Alabama...we have 2 "powerhouse" SEC schools, 3 BCS titles in 3 years between them. Do you think these 2 programs are equal in revenue from football? Hell no, Alabama brings in far more revenue from its football program and subsidiaries. Gene Chiznik is not paid the same as Nick Saban...why? Because Saban came in with a BCS championship already, and has since won 2 more while at Alabama..Chiznik only has the one, and Auburn's football program does not generate the same money as Alabama's.

The only way these teams will ever be equal, is on the football field...in a playoff system.

You stole that line from the game.
Should have given Danielson credit because it was fucking funny. Maybe it was because I was incredibly buzzed way earlier than normal but it made me laugh.

College football is a fucking joke and it's no surprise that a senile guy from the leather helmet days thinks it's the bees knees.

It's semi-pro silliness filled with disgusting mismatches, corruption, and other buffoonery. I can't fathom how anybody would prefer it to the pro game.

Meathead, are you going to do the NFL prediction thread? Or be a puss?

Archie, I'm not going to do the NFL prediction thread. It's not because I'm a puss, it's because the only division I follow closely is the NFC East, and unlike some people around here, I have no desire to talk a bunch of shit about a bunch of things I don't know that much about.

Except that I'm sure the Vikings will suck. Again.

Not saying it to be mean. I really believe it. From what I can tell, the Vikings and Cards will probably be the worst teams in football. As much as I'd like the Colts to be in the running for #1 draft pick again, I can see them winning 5 or 6 games.

But then again, I'm no expert. Just a dude really looking forward to NFL season and tonight's game.

The Vikes will have about 6 to 8 wins.

Their defense is much better than people give it credit for.

Well let's start small then.

Who do you like in tonight's game?

I'm going with the Cowboys. The Giants are always slow out of the gate and this game has New York Post declaring "Panic in the Meadowlands!" tomorrow morning written all over it. Eli will throw a couple INTs and everybody will be freaking out. Just a hunch. This will of course all be forgotten when the Giants are 5-2.

Is this what you mean by saying I always ruin threads? I call it improving threads. Clearly any college football thread that turns into an NFL thread is about 36 times better.

Real football starts tonight. I'm predicting eight sacks of Tony Romo by Tuck, Uminyiora and JPP.

Florida State - 55
Savannah State - 0

Savannah State has made 1.2 million dollars in 2 weeks. It's quite obvious they're more interested in the paydays than fielding a competitive squad.

The only thing SEC fans care about is how much the media talks about how great their conference is. Even if the top two teams in the SEC are like a an NFL team, and the rest of the teams are like a high school team.

fucking knuckle draggers.

What I care about is that MY team plays like an NFL team. I do cheer for the others in the conference as long as they're not playing us of course. And 4 out of the top 10 teams are SEC teams, so what's not to love? Oh yeah. SEC teams have won the last 6 national championships and likely will win another this year.
