Pro bowl level QBR is 65-70. Luck scores at 81.9!

Completion % - 53.3
TD - 5
INT - 4

NOT Pro Bowl level.

The major factor in QB rating is interceptions. It's a great stat.

Greggles, without looking it up, what are the qualifications for such a lofty rating?

The rating he is talking about isn't QB rating. It's ESPN's made up rating so they can talk about all their overhyped qbs.

The reason Total QBR is an important stat is because it takes into account real life situations, not just stats. For example, a QB who throws a five yard pass and then his receiver runs 90 yards for a TD won't receive as many points as a QB who actually throws a long TD bomb. Total QBR also takes into account strength of schedule and the quality of the defenses a QB has faced. It's definitely an advanced stat, and probably too hard for many of you simple minded folks to understand.

You'll also notice I never said this stat is the end all be all, or that being #1 means you're the best QB in the league. I simply posted the numbers and watched as the trolls lost their collective minds over it.

Okay now show of hands everyone..

How many are actually surprised Greg started trolling his Colts schtick so early in the season? Come on now, I know some of you "trolls" had to be..

Bragging of QB ratings when by his own "marked words" the rating means nothing..
Already proclaiming MVP, Hall of Fame status of Luck who has 5 TD's and 4 INTS with a team that's currently 1-2?

Interesting, in that I've always thought passing yards was a curious stat in some respects, as the QB gets credit for a lot of work he doesn't do. So, I understand trying to develop a more nuanced measure. However, is it nuanced enough to achieve what it is trying to? Does it capture the difference between a 5 yard check down where the WR does something amazing and a scenario where the QB sees a wide open WR 5 yards out and shifts from the called play to take advantage of a gap in the defence? Both lead to 5 yard passes the WR takes 80 yards down field, but one actually does have an awful lot to do with the QB's vision.

That's my problem with a lot of the fancier stats - they address some imperfections of existing stats, but open themselves up to other concerns.

I think the only one on here that's even hinted at him being a potential bust is Gregory.
His credibility was gone when he called Griffin a run first qb ala Russell. It showed he never saw Griffin take a single snap at the college level.

True, but I'd argue he lost his credibility a long time before that. Dude trolls for reaction, and he gets it.

Oh, like when Luck dumped off a pass to Donald Brown as his first pass in preseason and Brown ran it for, what, 60 yards or something to score? Everyone clamoring "Luck threw a TD pass on his first attempt!!!!" When it was actually Brown who did 99% of the job.

And if you want to talk about gifts, let's talk about the 4th down TD that the Vikes scored off a deflection. That was without a doubt on the luckiest touchdowns I've ever seen. So far he has demonstrated he's a run-first QB. By run-first I mean that he takes off running before looking at ALL his reads. Very similar to Michael Vick or Vince Young. You'll notice that contrary to popular belief, I never actually said Griffin was a similar player to Russell. Not once.

When Tony Dungy became head coach of the Bucs, most people said he'd never turn the team around. The Bucs had never been any good and were one of the worst teams in the league. But he did it, and within a short amount of time the Bucs became perennial contenders.
