I can't believe how much of this I've been watching since my son began travel soccer 2 years ago. I actually know what's happening on the field instead of rooting for scoring. Not saying I'm a fan but at least I know what's doing now.

Saw the penalty awarded to Brazil which was ridiculous.
Man I can't stand Brazil. I would prefer any team but them to win it.

Me too, except for Italy. Mexico's making a good effort so far, but Brazil seems a lot more confident than in the first game.
I feel bad for Algeria. Belgium were shit for most of the game, the Arabs would have deserved one point.

The Mexican goalkeeper is a free agent next month, but not for long.

This cup is delightfully unpredictable so far. Holland almost fucked up against the Aussies, and Chile kicks out Spain!

I'm gonna be watching England v Uruguay on Canadian TV as I'm on holiday in Niagara Falls this week. I think even the American coverage is better than Canada's. I've never heard of this English guy they have in the studio.
After the match, I will be journeying behind the Falls! Hopefully, I won't want to throw myself in.

Steven 'most over-rated footballer of the last decade' Gerrard sets up the winner! I'm happy we won't win it, because I couldn't bare to see him lift the trophy and then hear a bunch of pleb scousers start saying he's the greatest English midfielder of all time, or something on those lines.

Doubt it. But then international football is generally dull. Normally why I don't bother with it too much these days. Although to be fair, this world cup has been better than usual.

Greece is historically terrible to watch. I'm generally rooting for the underdog, but seeing them win the European Championship ten years ago was downright depressing.
Costa Rica screwed out of a clear penalty. Now I'm sure Italy will win the game, because there is no justice and there is no god.

If they play like today they might. And if they do, Germany actually have a solid chance to win the title.
France taking no Swiss prisoners right now. That's quite an offense in Ribéry's absence.

Heh, heh, I'm back home now, still alive.
Fine margins for England in the end. Had most of the game against Uruguay but couldn't create enough and 2 awful goals conceded fucked us over. Oh well, never expected much anyway, that's how it goes now for England fans.
I saw some of Greece and thought they defended well after the sending off. It's easy to be critical of a game like that, but you have to take the circumstances into account. Greece were always going to park the bus once they went a man down.
I'd just like to see a European team win it. None has ever won it in South America I think. I haven't been impressed by Brazil, and Argentina were sluggish in their first game.

Great game the Swiss were just out played.

I listened to all the games yesterday on the radio in the car on the way home. Sounded like France could have had a few more, missing a few chances and a penalty. Sounded like they backed off towards the end.
France, Germany, Holland or even Italy I wouldn't mind winning it. I guess I'll side a little for Holland seeing as United next manager is Van Gaal and Van Persie is playing for them. But any would be fine by me.

France had one goal that could have been given to them at the last second. I didn't see France back off on scoring.

Re: Official Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Football Thread
Shit! Iran actually were the better team against fucking Argentina, were denied a penalty, and then last minute Messi . . . no fair.
Re: Official Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Football Thread
I mean coz they let the Swiss get 2 goals near the end. Unless they were pushing forward and got hit on the counter.Mongo wrote:MickeyG wrote:I listened to all the games yesterday on the radio in the car on the way home. Aye, quality finish by the BPITW. Iran had done a great job until then, with some great counters. Argentina's keeper made some good saves.SebastianLeeDanzig wrote:Shit! Iran actually were the better team against fucking Argentina, were denied a penalty, and then last minute Messi . . . no fair.

Re: Official Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Football Thread
That was pretty much the case. At least Benzema was obviously not satisfied with a five-nil lead. One Swiss goal was a total freak free kick, the other a perfect counter volley shot that probably even surprised Granit Xhaka himself.MickeyG wrote:I mean coz they let the Swiss get 2 goals near the end. Re: Official Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Football Thread
Goddamn, that sucked from Germany. I hope that will at least show Löw that he's not Guardiola, Lahm is no midfielder and we need a fucking striker. Klose in for Müller, Schürrle or Podolski instead of Götze, just run them over and fuck playing Spanish. Only positive was Klose matching Ronaldo's record for most World Cup goals. He'd probably even pass him unless USA sends us home, playing like tonight.
Re: Official Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Football Thread
Yeah, I'm not down with all this false 9 bullshit and playing with no strikers. Somebody needs to lead the line for fuck sake, and most strikers have this built in need to score or they think they haven't contributed which makes them more decisive around the goal.
Re: Official Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup Football Thread
Belgium needs to quit this hesitant behavior around the goal.
They are looking for someone to pass to , instead of taking the shots.
Should be a great day of soccer.
