here's what's gonna happen....

cory will get an offer sheet of 3.5. unless toronto goes for 5.

the canucks will match the salary and keep both guys until 20 or 30 games in.

the canucks can also sign him beforehand for 3.5 and i think he might take it with the promise he's going to split starts until luongo can be traded.

Anything's possible,but I don't see that happening for a variety of reasons.

1) Regardless of what takes place with a new CBA, some GM somewheres would gladly overspend to grab Schneider-be it out of desperation or be it out of spite.I think 3.5 million will be a low ball offer for him.

2) Gillies doesn't want nor need the headache(media) that having both guys will undoubtably bring if he re-signs Schneider for big bucks. It would also be a distraction in the room, even if it was for 20-30 games.

3)The bloom is off the rose,so to speak, concerning Luongo. He's older than Schneider and is starting to have diminishing returns.Schneider's upside is much more than Luongo's plus a team can sign him to THEIR own long term deal.

Have any gone over 5 minutes? I could be wrong but I thought all their overtime games were over quickly.

Non-existent. They only riot when they lose in the finals of the Stanley Cup.

Early round eliminations - no big deal. The fair weather fans hadn't got on the bandwagon yet. You know when a team is doing well more fans starting appearing.

The Coyotes WILL be in Quebec City next year.

Not only are they getting a new arena, the Government has loaned the potential ownership group funds to MAKE UPGRADES TO THE COLISEE THIS SUMMER.Why put millions into a rink when you're getting a new one? Much like the ownership group in Winnipeg last year, the Quebec group has been told to not say anything or else the deal is off the table.

Outside of Wolf,I'm sure none of you have been to the Colisee. There's literally 3 washrooms in the entire place, major upgrades would be needed to host NHL hockey in the 21st century, even if only for a couple of seasons.

Nice to see New Brunswicker Couturier perform well this post season. With Jake Allen getting tv face time as a back up in St.Louis and John Stevens behind the bench in L.A. my little province is quite well represented this playoffs.
I hope Seattle gets it.

I've been saying that forever. I've been to concerts there, as well as to the Finals of the World Hockey Championships the year it was hosted jointly by Halifax and Quebec City. Like you say, there are 3-4 washrooms in the whole place, 2 concession stands, no luxury boxes, and not much parking. It's good enough for junior hockey, but nowhere near an NHL arena in this day and age. It makes the Nassau County Coliseum look like the Taj Mahal! I can only imagine the facilities, or lack thereof, for the players.

They had one in Antti Niemi but decided not to pay him and he left to San Jose. Not that he's been outstanding there but he could have given the Hawks a solid goalie for years if they'd let him stay.

Actually,he was just "good" the year the Blackhawks won the Cup.He was reliable, but not outstanding. He had great D in front of him. They offered him fair money for his pedigree in contract negotiations($1.5 Million) but he wanted $4 million. An arbitrator ruled he was worth $2.5.Up against the cap and already having to shred players(Versteeg,Byfuglien) the Blackhawks had no choice but to walk away...or get rid of Toews or Kane or Sharp, etc.,which obviously wasn't going to happen.Crawford hasn't played all that bad but has the penchant for the soft goal now and then(not reliable). The Hawks recently signed Emery to a new contract so I suspect Crawford's days to be numbered.Again, with their list of high profile salaries they are pretty much handicapped with bringing in a big ticket guy.

Which brings me to Schneider..Toronto wants to make the playoffs next year.Burke is starting to feel the heat, look at them to make a serious play,as will Tampa Bay.If these two teams are both interested, look for that number to reach 5 million easily.

“I really felt the game in Boston for some reason was such an emotional and challenging game, it was almost like playing a Stanley Cup final game in the middle of the season and from that point on I don’t think our team ever really collectively got their emotions together,” Gillis said.

That's pathetic. Really? Why would he say that even if true? And the fact that they won makes it even more embarrassing.

burke won't pay 5 mill for an unproven commodity.

say what you will about him, but burke's always been financially responsible.

carey price made 2.75 this year. i doubt schnieder is going to break the bank.

hell, the canucks would pay 2.75 in a heartbeat and keep both him and luongo.

/\ Perhaps, but it all might be a moot point anyways as Luongo has said he's willing to waive his no trade clause.Gillies can open cap space and avoid a distraction at the same time. There's 10 years left on the contract, but only 6 of those years are big money. It won't be easy, but there will be a desperate GM out there somewheres.Should be an interesting off-season out west.

Not to nit pick, but I don't call signing Jeff Finger to a 4 year $14 million dollar contract "fiscally responsible". -Letting him ride it out in the AHL rather than buying him out and not having the contract count against the cap is however.

Tough lose for the Panthers last night.

Burke didn't sign Finger - I believe it was either Cliff Fletcher or John Furgusson.

But you can make a case for Armstrong and Komaserick

Yeah, it was tough. Still even if we lose this series we're still exceeded pretty much everyones expectations. And I believe the future is looking good for the Panthers.

Really need more firepower!

Luongo coming out and saying he's willing to waive his no-trade clause so soon after the Canucks being eliminated is a thinly-veiled way of saying "Get me the fuck out of here" IMO.Toronto does seem like the likeliest place he'll end up but I'm not sure I like the idea.It sure would be an improvement over last year though.

Toronto is an even harsher environment than Vancouver!

He would be mad to go there.

Can't blame him for wanting to leave though. The 'fans' have really turned their back. And as KW has stated he really hasn't done much wrong.

The loss to Boston last year was more a lack of scoring than Luongo.

He had a solid season this season, and the two losses to the Kings when he was in net were again not down to him.

It's gonna be weird watching Shane Doan in round two when I'm used to seeing him at the World Championships in May.

Yep, and he earned it. He didn't however earn anything this year coasting around Long island for 60 games when he was handed an A and his answer to that was to hog the puck and fire a slapper 2 feet wide of the net the second he skated over the blue line.

Not only that, he made me cheer for Dale Hunter. It can get no worse. Fuck that slacker. And don't give me the shit about how nobody wants to play there. If he didn't want to be there, he should'nt have waived his no trade clause to go play there. He stole every isles fan money this season. he didn't deserve the reward of being sent to a contender. You notice I'm not dogging Mike Motauu? He might suck, but he gave effort. Rolston is a first class POS. Fuck that clown.
