I have to admit there were quite a few good record shops in Liverpool. Spent far too much money in Penny Lane Records.

Too bad, I was hoping they'd bring in Schottenheimer.

Marty Chokenheimer is brilliant during the regular season and then folds like a lawn chair in the playoffs. Hence his 5-13 post season record.

Indy fans shouldn't think of this weekend as the Superbowl.

They should think of it as Peyton Manning's retirement party.

Did you see Irsay's quote today? It's looking like it's the end:
"When you try to consult doctors literally worldwide in terms of what are the expectations, what are the dangers, the risks, the aspects of coming back from it, no one can give you a definitive answer," Irsay said Wednesday. "It's one of those things where even some of the doctors said if this came up again that it's going to be something people are going to rely on as trying to have some sort of historic reference medically to look back on. It's very unusual. It's been going on for almost a year."

Irsay said he has watched Manning throw but declined to get into specifics or evaluate what he has seen.

"I've said from the beginning that it is a two-phase medical aspect," the owner said. "It is, can he return to play at a really high level, with what his expectations are? That is the only level that he wants to be. Can he drill it in Foxborough in January when it's 10 degrees outside for 50 yards? Is he going to be back to the Hall of Fame level that he expects to play at? I think the second issue has always been the health and the risk of going back onto the field. So I think there are two separate issues, and they are complicated issues."

Take this for what its worth, but I overheard someone on the radio who claimed to have inside knowledge of Peyton's contract.
This person said there is a clause in Peyton's contract that says he will only get paid in 2012, if he is able to pass a physical.
This person on the radio said the Colts agreed to insert this clause as a means to give the perception that Peyton would become the highest paid QB in the league, even though it was fully understood their would be no chance that Peyton could pass a physical.

Irsay should shut the fuck up. Why is he speculating like this in public? Why is blathering every day about this shit?

To fuck with Peyton obviously. He's still pissed and probably thinks "he started blabbing first, now I won't shut my pie hole." Every time Irsay opens his trap he's making things worse for Peyton. He's "prepping" the press to accept Peyton is being cut, and SHOULD be cut - just look at the mainstream press for God's sake, everybody is simply assuming it's a done deal at this point. AND he's hurting Peyton's future value as a free agent with this shit.

I really don't understand what motivation he could have for continuing this shit while the entire world's sporting press is in town unless he's doing it for the reasons I already stated, unless he's just a drunken moron. He's hanging Peyton out to dry; there's absolutely no reason he has to say ANYTHING beyond "we'll get back to you in March."

And Colts fans like Brainwashed-13 are falling for it. What would have seemed unimaginable even 6 months ago for Colts fans has now become accepted as possible or even probable.

Mr. Irsay isn't saying anything new. He's trying to avoid the issue and has said he wants the focus to be on the city of Indy and the game this week. But as the owner of the hosting team, he's obligated to do these press appearances, and there's only so many times you can say "no comment" to the same question that gets asked non-stop in every interview. Like it or not, Peyton Manning is the #1 subject of this week, and there's nothing anybody can do about that. Again, Irsay is not saying anything new and certainly is not saying anything that would harm Peyton in any way.

I see the sad reality of the situation, and that is that Peyton most likely won't be a Colt next year. It is painful for me to even think about that, but the only way to deal with it is to accept and face the facts. I hope beyond belief that I am wrong. But all signs are pointing to the reality that bringing Peyton back is probably not going to make a lot of sense for either party. Never in a million years would I have thought that playoff game against the Jets last year would be Peyton's last as a Colt. It's a damn tragedy that it would have to end that way. It isn't fair. But football usually isn't. Peyton's had a hell of a career here. If it should have to end now, I will always be grateful for those 12 years. Watching Peyton Manning play for the Colts every Sunday was truly an unimaginable pleasure.

As for Peyton's future, I hope his health allows him to keep playing, even if that's for another team. There's a part of me that selfishly would want him to retire, because seeing him in another jersey would be horrible. But at the same time, we should all be happy to be able to watch the greatest player of all time for a few more years. Even if I won't root for his team, I'll always follow and root for Peyton Manning. If you're a football fan, how can you not?

I don't know about rooting for him. I tend to root against him, but watching that guy do his thing has been awesome. He's one hell of a quarterback, and the game is better with him in it. I really hope he makes it back. I'd rather see him retire than stumble around as a shadow of his former self, but I wouldn't mind seeing Manning be Manning for a few more years.

I find it interesting that all the talk is about if Peyton can throw, if he can perform at a high level. I'm probably missing it somewhere, but has anyone just come out and said that the number one concern is that the guy will just recuperate and live the rest of his life with all of his limb functions?

But I don't know shit about the salary cap.

Peyton seems like a good enough dude, and I'm sure he's rooting for his brother. I mean, yeah, nobody wants their little brother showing 'em up but in the end its family.

However being absolutely BURIED in the history books by his greatest rival, pretty boy Brady, has got to be a thought that even easygoing Peyton simply cannot stomach.

Absolutely. Peyton is one of those uber competitive types. I'm sure he's rooting for Eli and all, but I'm pretty much sure it pisses him off that he's not playing there. I'll bet it chaps his little brother's ass more that he's playing in the Superbowl and all the press talks about is about his big brother though.

You said it wouldn't be financially feasible to keep manning and luck. It is feasible. If peyton is released, it wouldn't be for cap or financial reasons. It would be because no one knows if peyton can ever play again.

No, it's because Peyton doesn't want totutor anybody. And because nobody ever ever pays a number 1 overall pick to sit on the bench for 3 or 4 years. Never. This is still true. If you want to find me one instance of a qb who was picked number obe overall and was never given a shot to win the job for 3 or 4 years, i will kindly back off that statement.

Until you do that, you are wrong...... again.

If it was just because he couldn't play again, wouldn't he retire a Colt?

That's NOT what you said. Here's your original quote:
No NFL team can carry Both Manning's salary, and a number 1 overall pick's salary at the same position.
